    I stay with O.S.P. on anything that is crankbait related, I have so much confidence in them and they have caught me tons of quality fish. But like you said there are lots of really good baits on the market. Thank you for another interesting video Sean hopefully you have an amazing holidays. Tight lines as always !!

      @@richardkeller6940 the blitz series is a great starting point depending how deep or shallow you are fishing but honestly anything they make has been outstanding.

    Awesome crankbaits design by the cranking king,lot ot folks complain bout the bill being fragile, but its a tough bill,its fragile to those folks who's always slapping it on the water trying to remove trash off if it,when all y'all need to do is just pull trash off with you hand its so easy and simple.

    • @TheAverageAngler
      @TheAverageAngler  Месяц назад

      It is a really tough bill and I have not had any issues with it. I agree on removing the trash with your hand.

      The dime is good too in summertime (honestly, i'm stoll catching them on a dime in cover..)
      Modern berkley cranks are really f'n dialed in for their price range.

    Berkeley is really getting it done on the crankbait front. Frittside, Money Badger, and the Dime all seem popular. I still like a Bomber Flat A which is a little smaller than a Frittside 7 and a whole lot cheaper. (Clearly I've learned to embrace my inner retrogrouch.)

    • @TheAverageAngler
      @TheAverageAngler  Месяц назад

      They really do have some great hard baits. Nothing wrong with the retro stuff. I like using my oldies as well.

    Sean,
    i like the fritside a lot. I also like the Bandit 200/300. My reservoir has only rock for cover and spotted bass that is rare to get a 2lb spot. I toss the smaller size mid diving crankbaits often osp, river2sea, 6 sense.

      There are so many good crank baits. I have a lot of them. Love catching em on a crankbait.

    Thanx AA. Not alot of 10' water to crank where I fish but have used the Fritside 7 a handful of times. Has not wowed me yet but still open minded. The standard 5 has put a few in the boat. You are right if David Fritz designed it, I must be doing something wrong. I'm still stuck on a old lure by Lucky Craft they stopped making called a Classical Leader. I still buy them on E bay but they are getting pricey.

      Sometimes they like certain baits at different places. I like the 9 due to its size and my lakes tend to have good size fish. I also tend to fish a bit deeper than the avg.

    • @TheAverageAngler
      @TheAverageAngler  Месяц назад

      For the smaller baits I will either use a medium light about 6’10 with 8 to 10 lb line. Or a spinning rod works well.

      @@ronaldmcdonald3965 Softer rod.. i like a moderate type medium to medium light. A big player is a smaller spooled reel. I like size 70s and 80s. With less weight in the spool and line they spin up easier.. even the "bass bfs" (medium light to light, 50 sized reels) sized stuff would probably chuck them with some real authority.
