The 1st chapter of Romans is very explicit in meaning, as just one example. I see no other way to interpret it. Stories from the Bible exist in other ancient literature because they really happened and were witnessed by others, such as the flood.
Its not true that devoutly religious people despise science; on the contrary, they actual complement each other. I saw this played out in minute detail when I took college Biology. It actually reinforced my belief in God.
What's sad is, while you're putting down Christianity, its you who seems not to have a grasp on reality. None of the suppositions you put forth are valid, and are only based on your own assumptions. The ones I will give you are the different religions, and changing views. That is due to the inherent, sinful nature of people wanting to go their own way. But you are responsible for your own soul in the end. Read the New Testament for yourself, and pray that Jesus reveals His truth to YOU. 🙏

To begin with, Those of us believers who understand the Grace of God, knows that Jesus was friends of sinners since that's the only way one can come to him. But the message here is not proclaiming or urging those to come to him. It's an ad about being (or not ) being Judged by Christians. Of course as Christians we should not judge but rather point to Jesus. And from there Jesus takes over, not us. But there's something that can't be overlooked by this ad which is key to understanding if it's genuine or not. It's a Super bowl ad! And yes, I've seen it on other venues, but this is the main stream media showing this. A media that is very anti Christian. So how do you reconcile the anti Christian aspect of the MSM and promote Jesus at the same time? Simple! They're not promoting Jesus, they're promoting tolerance and using the Love of Jesus as a weapon against Christians who are opposed to certain lifestyles. Of course Jesus Loves everyone and will receive anyone just as they are since that's the only way one can come to him. But he loves you too much for you and I to stay the way we are. Once you truly receive the Love of Jesus, over time you and I will change.

You Protestants don't get this attitude. The 'washing of the feet' was done on the Passover before the Crucifixion. It is an expression of AGAPE, an example of humility. Of love for all God's creations. Here's what Wikipedia says: "In Christianity, agape (/ɑːˈɡɑːpeɪ, ˈɑːɡəˌpeɪ, ˈæɡə-/;[1] from Ancient Greek ἀγάπη (agápē)) is "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and of man for God".[2] This is in contrast to philia, brotherly love, or philautia, self-love, as it embraces a profound sacrificial love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance." We Catholics wash the feet of strangers who gather in church on Holy Thursday (before Good Friday) and that is our custom. It really makes you feel small and that is humility, that is what Jesus taught! God does not work for us. We do not set the standards, God does. We do not control, we follow!

When Gatorade wanted to sell their product, they used Michael Jordan’s celebrity with their target audience to sell it. He drinks it on camera and there’s a call to action to “be like Mike”.
He Gets Us is not promoting Jesus any more than Gatorade was promoting MJ. Jesus is the celebrity they are using to sell humanism to Christians. They are portraying Jesus as having humbly bowed at the feet of the unrepentant with unconditional love and acceptance and therefore so should we.

When Jesus walked on this Earth, many believed Jesus was not quite right. He approached the untouchables. He sat with the sinners. He ignored the status of the Roman Centurian and commended him on his faith. Etc. Many today act like Simon the Pharisees and question why is Jesus engaging with this woman of sin. Engaging with sinful humanity is too humanistic. And yet Jesus did the same for us, for we were such as these. Jesus does get us all as sinners, struggling in our fallen nature, in need of a savior.

Yes love each other, but turn away from sin, not accept bad behavior or your hateful! Jesus said his message was a sword that would divide and cause us internally to see the contradiction in each one of us, so we would see our need for him.

Well, first of all, the feet that Jesus washed were the feet of his disciples. He wasn’t washing the feet of everybody in town. The idea that he “didn’t teach us to hate” is a straw man argument. What he told us to do was to reject sin in our lives, and to have the discernment to be able to exhort people to reject sin in their own lives. He “gets” that we are sinful, but he wants us to turn from the sin. He does not want us to accept it. He does not want us to tolerate it. He does not want us to celebrate it, and he doesn’t want us to ignore it. You can’t accept Jesus as savior if you are willing to wallow in sin, and not struggle against it. You cannot celebrate it as a “human right.” It is not a human right….it’s a human failing. A strong relationship with a sinless God the Son is the only cure.

The “He Gets Us” series gets half the story right; Jesus does love us all and wants all (1 Timothy 2:4) to be saved. This is good and we must remember Our Lord can even forgive the worst of sins.
However, sinners - and I count myself among them - need to understand repentance means we must change. Jesus died and was resurrected and we thank God for this fact but being in the state of grace requires self-denial.

Jesus came to seek and to save the lost from sin. John 3:17 says he came not to condemn the world, but to save it through him. Meaning he died for our sins so we could believe and be saved. That also requires us to recognize our sin and our need for him as our saviour. He Gets Us ignores the Gospel.
