Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If you back up too far from your man that’s illegal Defense so you can’t really defend soft zones of the court. You are limited if you’re a shaq to just playing in the low post even if you can dribble as a taller player you wouldn’t be able to in the 90s. There is a reason there are no KDs, Lebrons, Steph, SGA, Luka, or Harden type players back then

Actually players shoot less free throws now
A player avg 30 in the 90s would shoot close to 15 free throws
The 3 point shot evolved by necessity as teams were allowed to pack the lane
As no illegal defense and zone could be played
In 2003 that rule affected changing the game over everything else
Michael Jordan complained as he was putting up 20 a game before this rule
Teams could only play man to man
If you doubled you had to aggressively double or could not even fake or sit between

That's what kills me with these youngsters thinking Lebron is better than Jordan. The NBA stopped hand checking in '04 i believe it was, so Lebron has basically played his entire career being able to pretty much just go wherever he wants on the court. Jordan played his entire career with hand checking allowed and yet still noone could contain him. In the '86-'87 season Jordan averaged 37.1ppg with hand checking, that's insane. Then 35.0ppg in '87-'88. People who have never played basketball just don't know how much harder it is to score when a defender can basically direct u to wherever he does or doesn't want u to go. Today's players have a clear path to wherever they wanna go. I'm totally with u on this.

Coming from one of my favorite true point guards, he’s definitely entitled to that opinion, which I slightly agree on. However, rules are one thing. Players are bound to advance and develop, so offense was going to increase one way or another. I miss old school basketball just as much as anyone else, but you can’t deny this league has way more talent now.

"Run free and show their talents" I think what's sad too is we equate "skill" to only dribbling and shooting.
You can't show your skill at shot blocking, setting screens, offensive rebounding, stealing the ball/on-ball defense, playing in the post.
Argument is players are more skilled. I see a bunch of players that can only do a few things. Every guy on the court can shoot and and handle the ball (even centers), but I don't see many guys that can do the other things I named.

Some where between the 80s and the horrid offense that existed on teams like the Knicks and now. The shooting nowadays is unbelievable but the passing is great on teams like GSW and the Nuggets and they are rewarded.

We love John. Miss him from the old days. We remember the day a commentator made the most ridicules remark "he's not an athlete" and our mouths dropped open. John was the most interesting person in the game and endurance like no other. He had unlimited power, so to that I say he was the most athletic person in the game.

I agree with John 100%. Todays league has no balance at all. All of them wanna be Steph curry, big men playing inisde the paint game is gone, too many ridiculous foul calls, least amount of mid range games and the keague is just too soft lacking that physicality that bring excitment and weight to this men sports. 😊

“No big men” Nic Claxton, Jalen Duren, Mitchell Robinson, Bam, Isaiah Hartenstein, Wemby, Chet, Kristaps, Robert Williams, Rudy, AD, Jarrett Allen, Steven Adams, Big Val, Sabonis, Gafford, and that’s just off the top of my head of good rim defending big men lol. I would argue rim protection is just as hard now as it’s ever been

None of them has post up moves, neither tough physical game. Watch the 90s games, they literally were wrestling and tackling each other.
Today’s big men wouldn’t even beat Rodman, who was only 6,7’ and a rebound master. And Rodman played mind games that today’s players can’t deal with.
Leave alone Shaq, Hakeem, Barkley, Robinson, Big Pat, Karl The Mailman.
Watch some games of the 90s Pistons, Even 00s Pistons would torch all todays teams

They want scoring like MLB does. Scoring is exciting for US fans. Football did the same but did under the guise of safety. They all changed their rules for higher scores. More “excitement”. Keep you engaged. Even in the NBA they changed walking, carrying, two step, pivot foot, etc. They don’t care about rules. They care about scoring, any league.

He may not realize this but if Stockton played in today's NBA he would've averaged 30 points per game because he was an amazing shooter.
The same goes for Steve Nash as well. Those guys came up in an era when you HAD to set everything up and not shoot as much.
This current era would've really showcased their skill sets even further.

I didn't watch one NBA game this year because the overall excitement is disappearing. I miss the big men contesting each other under the rim, hands on defense and the best wanting to compete and beat the best verses playing with the best to beat the rest. Sports are becoming so soft that it is taking away the competitive edge that make fans want to watch and players to play the game.
