You REALLY need tp update this to say in the EIGHT SPEED models only. As mentioned in the comments, it DOES turn off on the 6 speed trucks like my own!
I have a 2014 red Ram single cab 4x4 muffler delete 20in stock cronies by switching to to tow and haul mode it turns off “eco” mode it definitely helps out with the exhaust note there’s not a bad drone but it’s sometimes it’s noticeable but I do it for better throttle response
IWrocker Hi. I’ve been hearing from others about different model years and 2500 - 3500 models doing the same. On the 2016 1500’s this seems to be the only way that works.
8 speed rams you need to put in drive and select a gear. In 6 speed rams tow/haul shuts it off. This is the case for the 1500. Not sure on the other models.
IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER RAM 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION IT DOES... ON MY 16 RAM YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN 8TH GEAR ON THE STEERING WHEEL IT WILL TURN THE MDS OFF... IT WILL STILL SHIFT UP AND DOWN LIKE NORMAL TO WHATEVER HEAR U PUT IT IN... ITS THE ONLY WAY MDS WILL CUT OFF ON A 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION...
I don’t need proof. I already know, but I seen this vid so I thought I’d tell you that after you have it in drive just pop the gear shifter button down then back into 8 and it won’t come back on as long as the gear numbers are still displayed. If you push it past 8 and back into drive it goes back to normal eco mode
Multi-Displacement System, basically it has an option to use less cylinders when not needed to save Gas. In this video, he is saying that when TOW is ON it should use MORE power but if the truck doesn't "detect" anything heavy, MDS ( Multi-Displacement System) should turn on. Kind of confusing video because he had TOW on but no weight is attached which is probably why MDS is not coming on. When one pressing TOW, it tells the truck "PREPARE FOR WEIGHT". I dunno man. I have a RAM SPORT that has MDS but I have never seen a light come on telling me I am using it. I was told it is an automatic thing that just happens.
duh...the MDS and the ECO are NOT related and are 2 totally separate systems... and the tow mode shuts off the MDS and bumps up the trans pressure and changes shift points for towing on all 4th gen rams.....what you are hearing are RPM changes that are from the change in shift points not the mds...if you put a scanner on your truck and drive it you can confirm this...I'm a certified master auto tech of almost 30 years and your wrong ..any actual dodge mechanic will confirm this...sorry

EVO is the variable valve timing

That's the difference between the 6 speed and the 8 speed, tow/haul will turn them off (mds, ecu) on the 6 speed
Hmmm. My 2015 2500 Power Wagon tow/haul definitely shuts "eco" /mds Off. I tested it out for a video as well, and the eco light didn't come on once

You are correct.
thx brother
How desactivate mds
How to make a video showing the truck

Thanks for busting this myth. What exhaust are you running
I have a Flowmaster super 44 on it.

and activates your Hill Assist
Dumb question but what is mds ?

Great video! Question: Was she being naughty while u were filming?
I'm joking..Have a great day
MDS Off is work with 6 speed transmission. 2011 to 2015 Not with 8 speed transmission ok !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2016. The MDS is still active while in tow/haul mode. WTF now. The only thing that disables the MDS is manual shift mode.
