When your ex remains single and goes quiet is when you should worry. I’ll guarantee they are processing the break up the right way and will move on in a healthy way. When they rebound you can assume they are hurting and filling the void. I’ve experienced both where most exes come back from rebound but the quiet and the ones that remain single tend to never return.

Weekend is tough. Got extremely depressed during the weekend imagining ex might be spending time with someone else doing things we used to do on weekends. Been watching this vid over and over yesterday and today. It really calm my soul. You guys are life saver.

Thats great for you, but if I were to find that myself, I'd feel really shitty again being sorry for her.. I already do. Because SHE is missing out and didn't have what it took to work things out. Something that may not always be easy for me either, but at least I can forgive, and try to help myself and others.

My wife ended it after 15 years, we have 1 daughter and she left me to be with another man 2 years ago and I just found out she’s pregnant by the guy she left me for. 2 years later and I’m still traumatized over this😔 I have moved up in life and doing so much better financially and as a man but I still think about the 15 years we had together and how she ended like i never even mattered .

@@aguy4401 I've been single about 9 months now. Been doing okay, maybe a bit much substance (ab)use, keeping somewhat in shape and spent this summer fixing the fasade of the house. The last breakup didn't hit me too hard, it was destined. My self confidence were already low and I couldn't, and still can't, find peace and quiet. My thoughts drift to my first love at times, it makes me feel down but I make use of every time it happens to remember myself that it is a closed chapter in my life and I need to keep on going.
Also when a door closes another one opens. This is totally true. Right before Christmas this cute girl I have met through work reached out to me and we've been chatting ever since. She has told me that she's got feelings for me, but I'm feeling a bit numb and having a hard time to relax and go with the flow. I'm feeling like a hopeless young, awkward and shy teenager again. I hope she shows me patience and can make me feel safe.

I never did the whole begging/pleading/gesture thing... straight after the break up.. I searched on youtube what to do after a break up, found you and several other coaches. And went straight into no contact... currently its been around 2 months, and he messages me about something every 2 weeks... something usually objective..
kinda direct indirect but not leading to much talk after apart from one time.. but.. no contact is working.. even though its small.. he comes around every two weeks with an objective but relevant excuse to message me.
My emotions have also calmed and I dont get the anxiety anymore, and I dont cry as much at all.. in fact its been a couple of days since I cried and thats a big deal cos it was at least once a day, sometimes three times a day. And I've started getting along with my life.

One of my exes did same, contacting me every month or two after break up asking how life s going and then leaving my answers with no reply. After 6 or so month I asked why he msg me and ignore that’s weird. He ignored again. After 1 year he msged me on my Bd and was asking for apologies and wanted to be friends. I wasn’t interested romantically so I said ok. Every time since that when he contacted me he was apologizing and saying how sorry he feels and that he wanted to contact me but every time he felt like he doesn’t deserve it. Guilt is horrible thing guys :(

I’ve been in the position you’re commenting about. I broke up with a girl, and 8 months later she began dating another man. I became jealous and felt separation anxiety, followed by acting out. Long story short her and I did actually hook up again for a while, but the relationship disintegrated.
Why would an ex still be resentful towards you if they were the ones that dumped you due to circumstances outside of your control and are actually engaged even?

@@kylel7158 I know shw is resentful because last April she posted on hsr WhatsUp "I saw that" - Karma, after I talked with our mutual friend and have told them about my struggles with my parents (who have hurt my ex, she becamo disappointed in them, they were part of the breakup) And this February she posted on WhatsUp the picture with her new bf (whome everyone was hiding from me for months and months and months that they were together for some odd reason) and she wrote "Know your worth" while she didnt post anyrhing like that on any other social media. I think she feels guilty as someone has said
@@ModernWanderer I'm not sure what she meant by that but it was definitely a form of contact wasn't it. I know it's difficult but try not to look too far into what she's saying. I know they say that there's always hope as long as both people are not dead, but when there's an engagement, I feel as though that's a cut-off to at least begin moving on and looking for another partner. Craig - can you do something that talks more about why they look AWFUL!? I noticed my almost ex husband looks .. just bad. I truly, accidentally came across a photo of him from someone I hadn't yet unfollowed, but I thought he looked bad - heck even our dog looked super grey (anxiety). I feel like I"m doing great and honestly don't really want a relationship at this time. I finally feel free and feel how oppressed I was, constantly feeling like he was going to leave and had one foot out the door. I just am so baffled at why they look SOOOOO BAD as the avoidants?!? Why don't they just return? They thought life was so much better with out us, and it just turns out life is so much better without THEM! I still care about him, which is why I'd love to know why they are torturing themselves.
Love this video, My ex broke up with me and left me for another guy after I found out she was having a affair, we were supposed to get married in a week (cold feet maybe). My ex husband is remarried and of course on Facebook seems to be living his best life ever. It has been nearly 15 years since he divorced me and I live 1200 miles away. I miss him STILL and I am still single. Thank you for at least comforting me with your words that he may be missing me more than I realize. Me and my ex had a great relationship but after a year, she sniffed something in the air, which I had never raised with her and she said ' I can't see myself being married to you've.
I was like wtf? I haven't even raised it. I did give up a good job for her because I didn't want to move away. She freaked when I did that.

It depends. Long time ago I was in a 5yr relationship. I was not happy for a host of things that Craig mentioned. When I broke up with her after a 1.5yrs I missed her quickly and asked to get back together but when we broke up for the last time 3yrs later I did not miss her at all, we never got in touch apart a couple of times to sort some beurochratic things but actually I felt a huge relief and even when a few months later was told by a mutual friend that she was with someone else I felt absolutely nothing.
Global what is the reason you break up?
Ex finally reached out but wouldn’t meet up. After several reach outs with her not showing much interest through her subtext, I told her I needed her to stop reaching out unless she wants to work things out. This was four months later.
Cody Stepp Same thing happened to me same time frame... it’s now been two months since she last reached out, didn’t even ask her to get together again after her declining twice all ready, over six months total of the breakup. Like you said. The dumper will be drawn to your growth, but what if the dumper only feels correct in their decision to break up? ( i.e. They see you're doing much better after breaking up and take this as a sign that you're better off without them) does this ever happen?
Twables Selbawt Lol maybe then it is for the better that you're broken up! If you start getting successful and better after a breakup it's a sign it was a toxic relationship.

I missed my ex as soon as I broke up with him. I haven't seen him for almost 3 months and I have tried and tried to reach out but I think he did no contact on me, so I did no contact on him.
Because I may have been the one to initiate the break up but he was the one that didn't fight to keep the relationship going and walked away.

I’m in a middle of a divorce which I started, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. I’m told things will be ok, but I can’t see when that will happen. I cry and want to stop the divorce. I think it has gone to far now. I think I made a terrible mistake, but can’t stop it. Don’t think my wife wants to anyway. Wish there was a way to turn off these feelings.

If the relationship was good. And we were good to them in a decent amount of time, there’s no way they will forget.
I still remember my crush from 4 years ago time to time. Even if I don’t feel like I still in love with him. I’ll be happy to talk to him again. But that was a crush, who I spent 3 months with.
So how can my ex, who is my first love (and i am his first girlfriend) will forget me? After everything we have been through. Even if he got bored. But my love for him is real. And we had 90% of a good time in our relationship.

I think I’m going to invest in the workbook series. I’ve watched a ton of videos and this is by far the best channel I’ve come across about break ups. I probably wouldn’t have made some of the mistakes I made had I found this channel earlier 😅 but I’m in therapy, surrounding myself with loving energy with friends and family, and exploring hobbies I left dormant. I used to work on myself and study love languages and relationships for years before my relationship (my first ever). I fell of during the relationship but I’m excited to work on that again and be a better lover for whoever is next.

Thank you so much Craig and Margaret. I found this channel several weeks ago. I'm just now brave enough to comment, but have watched a lot of your videos.
My ex and I worked together, but in different departments. We began to talk to each other when her hours changed. She had to clock in at my computer because I was the first person to get to work and had a key to get in the building.
Over time, we talked more and more. Until one day, she mentioned her birthday was coming up. I asked if she was going to celebrate and she said no. I asked her out for her birthday and she said yes.
We were together 4 months.
The breakup was a shock to me.
She was coming over to watch a movie at my place and as soon as she walked in the door, she sat on the opposite couch of me and began breaking up with me. She began to cry saying it wasn't my fault and that she doesn't want to break my heart.
From that point on, work went from pleasant to dreadful.
Somehow, it looked like we were working things out and went on one more date about six weeks after the first breakup. But it quickly fell apart.
I'm anxious. She's avoidant.
We both began to act childish.
I did all the wrong things including a hand written letter.
I almost quit my job because I felt she was antagonizing me. Around the same time, little did I know, she put in for a transfer to another location within the company a couple miles down the road.
Her last day was my first day of no contact. And I contemplated seeing a therapist. I decided not too.
On day 38 of no contact, she shows up at work ten minutes before I leave. I see her, but she doesn't see me. She was there for work related reasons in another department, but she began hanging out too close to my work area for my comfort. I began to get anxious. I was stressing. My hands were shaking. I didn't say anything to her. When I left, I blew up her phone with calls and voicemails.
I also began venting on Facebook. She couldn't see my posts, but we each had a common friend and the friend took a screenshot of everything I posted. I pretty much deserved to have that happen for putting it all on Facebook.
I've lost my self respect and hate I let her affect me this way. Now I'm irritable, work stresses me out, little things set me off. I don't like being in my house because that's where the breakup happened.
I finally set up an appointment with a therapist. My appointment is Tuesday.
Similar problems I was anxious, she was avoidant. I did the letter like an idiot. I'm on 35 days NC and could careless at this point; I've moved on with my life. A lot of these women do not love themselves but we cant lose ourselves either. I'm very happy with my life just going to be single for awhile and live life like God intended. And yeah, dude I would get off social media for awhile. I've been off it way before we even broke up but its not going to help being on it.
What if the ex is always partying and drinking since the break up...what does that tell me? she said she doesn’t wanna deal with the bad emotions....ain’t that sad.

Dont contact him and go out and have fun. I broke up with a girl because I thought there would be someone better. I was at the clubs and saw her. Immediately I got jealous and went up to talk to her. I ended up taking her home and we rekindled things. Thing is she was out having fun and that was attractive.
In my 46 years I've never seen a rebound work. Years ago an ex reached out after 4 months. It was a traumaticaly nasty split. At the time I saw her as the one that got away. After those 4 months I said no. Best decision ever for her and I.

Errors and flaws are from both, not only one part. This is the tragic situation, that never dialogue about my nd her problems(she got angry, couldnt think logically and made silence as punishment) never reciprocate or compromise , and never taking charge in common over the couple responsibilities.

It's not a fault to be avoidant. Failure to recognize is. Most of my life has been as an avoidant then someone comes along and changes all of that. That's when you stand up and relish in your pride. Everyone can change for the better. Letting someone in to break your heart is one of the strongest things one can do.

It’s really tough for me today. It’s day 10 no contact. And I checked his Instagram today and he finally deleted the pic of him and I together. Smh it hurt me so bad. This really sucks and I’m pretty sure it’s over for good.
Don't lose hope, but that doesn't mean you should unhealthily obsess over reuniting with him! Work on yourself! Stop counting the days of no contact, it's torture! Live your best life, surround yourself with work, new activities, family, friends and put him away into the back of your mind! Amazing things will happen then!! just wait n see... It's difficult, it's not easy. The pain is real! But use that to motivate yourself to stop feeling that way, and to find the person you were before u even met him! Force a smile, force some joy for now if u have to, and I promise u the hurt will slowly flow out of u! Do YOU!

What if you broke up with them first, said we didn't have to talk everyday and wanted to remain friends, then they pull all kinds of strings to pull you back in then you all are on/off for a period of months, then they start seeing someone else without telling you for three months and you are upset because they weren't being honest....... I've been no contact for 2 months.
My ex reached out and asked me if im willing to do Something with her and Our son, the indirect direct approach! I agreed and we had a nice Family day where she was obviously trying to get close to me, Afterwards we went to her place where she then started to bombared me with qurstions like: are you still seeing this girl? I wanna know whats going on in your Life but i can't since you blocked me everywhere! Arent you interested in knowing whats going on in my Life? And that shes happy that we started to get along again! Told me that she wants another child she even thought of a name! I didnt respond to Any of those questions except the one where she asks If im not interested in her Life where i answered with NO! Why is she asking me all that?

I'm simply writing this in hopes of some much needed advice, because I'm so confused right now. My girlfriend and I dated for 8 months and dumped me 2 weeks ago (I was completely blindsided by this). She initially told me she fell out of love, but then after going over everything in my head I realized it's because I took her for granted and didn't give enough of my time to her. I apologized for each individual mistake, and said I can fix it and asked for a second chance. I was told "no, I don't have those feeling for you anymore I'm sorry". She still wants to be friends but I cannot do that, I love her too much to be around as a buddy when she finds someone new. I accepted the break up and told her we can't be friends and went into NC. She reached out and I answered in a way where I didn't show emotion and I didn't ask for forgiveness or mention the relationship. Few days of talking on and off, and we met up about 3 times since the break up. Everytime we met up, she'd cry and said she missed me, and she'd kiss me (not in a friendly way, but in what seemed to be a very passionate kiss). I tried to avoid kissing but the chemistry is so strong it's imposible for me to reject a kiss. So basically I'm in a postition where when were together it seems like we're dating, but she says she isn't in love with me, so we're not. She also made a tinder immediately after our break up and I know she still has it as of today which is the last time I saw her. I haven't reached out once to her, she's done all the reaching, when we met up today it was her who asked me out, and like I said we kissed again today, except today seemed to be the most passionate kiss since. All of this said, she says she isn't in love with me, and she intermittently brought up little jabs about how I messed up the relationship while we met today. Basically all I want is some guidance to my situation. Because to me, deep down, she's in love with me and wants me back. However, she says the exact opposite. So her mouth says one thing and her body says something completely different. I just need some advice because I have no idea how to handle these mixed signals. Thanks, hope to be hearing from you.
Wish I could share some things with, unfortunately - the cost are just too much. I hope in time that someone wil sponsor your program, to help offset the cost to what is affordable., even if you can qualify for grant programs or take insurance - at least co-pays are $20.00 -that's affordable. . Lol

Yeah, I doubt she thinks about me after telling me how comfortable she was with this new guy and spending the whole weekend with him.
Moving onto someone else that soon after is like a drug to numb the pain of the loss. When I see that it is a much more clear sign that they are actually hurting. It is when they don't move to someone new nor are contacting you that is confusing. Someone who is not hurting is just content either way.

My girlfriend left me last month, after 12 years, for another, and i did all the mistakes, and last week i went NC, but we have a 11 yo boy, and i had to Pick him up today so i have to have some contact, but anyway, she told me that she had told her new boyfriend, not to be present at pickups and deliveries with the kid, and that he have to Call and ask if he Can drop by, and strangely she also said that she still cares about me, but i acted very cool and composed, and just nodded a little, and when the kid said goodbye to her, she afterwards gave me a hug, and wished me a good week. I Said thank you and wished her the same, but i cant Shake off the thought that she was testing me, to see if i would fall back to my neediness, but i didnt. I just needed to get this of my chest, sorry for my bad english.

Im losing all hope for my case, we had a long distance relationship, i am no contact, it has been 3 weeks, but i still feel that im not ready to reach out, but i have seen a few videos about long distance (but we used to see each other, every 2 months), and it doesn't give me much hope, so i think i will just move on. Abril Garcia I was in a long distance relationship and she broke up with me before Christmas last year. I’ve begged for a week and stuff before finding these videos. What I’ve learned from Craig is to keep no contact and don’t reach out. Only reach out when they do but for the time being, best to just work on yourself. In your case tho, best to go through the sadness first and allow yourself to go through the process. Once you have some strength later, spend time to improve on yourself. I recommend Craig’s books or communication videos. I am really really sorry you are going through this and I completely understand what you are going through. The first week was hell being not able to sleep, eat or be motivated to do anything but plead. Now I’ve been in no contact for 3 months+. I hope you do hear from your ex and your situation improves. Stay strong and hang in there :)

My ex broke up with me after 4 years. She reached out to a friend a couple weeks after about some clothes that didn’t exist at my house. I told my friend to tell her they aren’t here but he forgot to tell her. Was that her reaching out or really just asking? Curious.
