I've recently run The Most Potent Brew module for my friends who were playing dnd for the first time and we had a blast! Thanks for the recommendation!

Well, not one-shots, but definitely short adventures. The first time I DMed, I made the mistake of running a large campaign with first time players. We are still playing, but I think it would have been better to have started with a short pre-made adventure, afterward I would have some DMing experience and would know better what I want to do and what style of game my players would want to play. And, I could write my own stories and encounters unencumbered by any premade campaign.

That's definitely the easiest way to do it! Precooked session zeros give everyone a chance to test the waters with less pressure imo

I actually decided to create my own, long term campaign as a first time DM that has never played before lol. I've realized how crazy that is after starting, but I truly love having an entire map I made myself ( 1 country). I did have the luxury of having completely new players, as I was essentially convincing my friends to start liking DnD lol. But we're going strong nearly a year later, so, I think I'm not that bad hahaha

The Wolves of Welton was really fun and it left a lot of room to tailor it to my party, and be creative with how things unraveled. Plus its really easy to work into an existing campagne incase you have a session that a few people cant make so you can still have a fun adventure, and with the loose ends at the end of the adventure you can ever have the events continue in your campagne if you’d like. It took my group a 4 hour session to complete. My one ranger ended up leaving with an owlbear that he made a friend with to help get its family’s home back, and my barbarian got a new cloak made of Flame’s fur. Everyone had a blast

honestly, one of the most helpful vid I've seen lately, I've been trying to prepare a one shot dnd session for a couple of friends, all of us are new to dnd and I've neither played nor been a dm before, so thank you for a quick rundown of these different oneshots

I would like to highlight that if you are new to D&D and try to make the Pre-generated characters from the starter set, it's actually a mission to figure our how to enter the character details. I wish WOTC could have tutorials to help you out here.

Thank you for this video. I have downloaded A Most Potent Brew and I am eager to give it a shot. It will be my first time DMing so I am pretty nervous. But from what I have seen so far is that it is a quite simple encounter, with plenty of room to add more if I want to.

Why would you be concerned about spoilers, because this video is aimed for DM's, who will want to get a very basic idea of what the setup is about, to know if they feel like looking into it further. It's a weird choice in my humble opinion to not say much more then the name of the thing and not get into the meat of what makes them appeal to you.

Actually I think it was a great approach to not give spoilers and I really appreciate it. In our group we have a long-time DM that already researched plenty of one shots. I also want to try the DM seat and it's been tough to find ones that he doesn't already know, while also not spoiling myself on future ones he could hold for us. In fact it is my understanding that not only he might hold the Wolves of Welton sometime, but also he doesn't know the Champions one, Which means I can safely play his game spoiler free and start researching my own as well.

Somehow I am missing that thing where there are links to the adventures in the description below. The first two are easily found on the Winghorn Press Website, but Challenge of Champions is a bit harder to track down. You can find it through adventurelookup.com though, which has a link to a bad scan of issue 58 of Dragon magazine where this adventure was published. As far as I could find out, it is not available anywhere else, which is a pity. According to rpggeek.com, Jonathan M Richards wrote 5 more Challenge of Champions adventures, which appeared in Dragon Magazine #69, #80, #91, #108, and #138. It might be worth it to check these out too, if you have those issues.
