As a retired correctional officer, mistakes i can see is guards where not rotated out to difuse personal relationships with the prisoners. Another big mistake was not keeping the accused separated from each other.

It was nauseating man the the f****** guards were asking for his autograph and most of the officials did not believe that the gorge could ever develop a relationship with animals such as that. Asking for an autograph man was the real kicker and many of them done that after his death they said they wanted an autograph of the devil but they wasn't saying that when he was alive. Have they checked himmler's mouth and borings mouth they both would have been hung which judging by how slow all the Nuremberg animals died that would be what they deserved. Because the hangman was not a professional hangman many of them took 15 even 20 minutes to die they were sitting there kicking and gasping and for 15-20 minutes and that's really all they deserve.

There is a profound observation in this excellent documentary: the egregious inhumanity of the German leadership were not acts by monsters or evil men and women. They were acts committed by what are considered normal, mundane men and women. That is what is horrifying; that normal people are capable of utmost inhumanity, under certain conditions. And because they are normal people, they are also capable of perpetuating the inhumanity, without even seeing it. And thus, we have our current tragic world condition...We...Never...Learn.

From a book I read, once the American doctors weaned him off drugs and he lost weight,he reverted to being a military figure who commanded respect instead of derision. This alarmed the US Army but they didn't know what to do. The guy had charisma.

Goering made strategic mistakes long before WWII started. Germany needed disruptive tech like perfecting turbojet engines, mass production of long range aircraft, radar tech development, nuclear weapons. He was stuck in the past even though Germany had the scientific capability. Goering knew Germany would loose the war even before it started.

Like most Americans I heard of these Trials and heard of the hangings. What I never learned till much later of the hundreds that were hung at the end of WWII. Till the movie Pierrepont, the last hangman revealed that hundreds were hanged after WWII. Most slowly strangled to death.... By Sgt. Woods....

According to the Commander of the Guards at Nuremberg, Lt. Art Staymates (his interview is on YT), only four people (excluding himself) could've given Goring the last capsule. A couple had already been found in Goring's possession.
If he knew who did it, he wouldn't tell. I think that it's likely that he knew or at least suspected, but you can watch the interview for yourself.

The height of hypocrisy of this film is failing to inform the audience until less than 2 mins remained in the film that after Göring committed suicide, THEY FOUND A SECOND CYANIDE TABLET AMONG GÖRING'S BELONGINGS.
THIS FACT should have been given to the audience IN THE OPENING 2 MINUTES OF THE FILM .
This failure to reveal the 2nd cyanide tablet turns the entire film into a mockery of TRUTH.
Without telling the audience AT THE VERY START of this film, the film has lost its credibility with the audience. Hiding such a monumental facts leads to the audience doubting all the other facts in this film.
Any film must not hide paramount facts from an audience. Never hide paramount facts from an audience. Always share from the outset paramount facts, .... NOT IN THE FINAL 2 MINUTES OF THE FILM

The banal ramblings of that candy Psychologist, is what costs this documentary points. I have seen her throwing about her 1st year psych student evaluations on other TV programs as well. She will sell her laughable ambiguities as psychological insight to anyone with a camera, and a check-book! This series could be better without her involvement, she adds nothing. And yes I know, she can only give the most general answers concerning the psychology of a person she has never examined, but that's my point. I think those who enjoy these types of shows, are relatively educated on such elementary matters! She's basically "talking down" to an audience that probably have forgotten more about the subject, than she will ever know! Lose her, and maybe I'll watch another!

I find most head doctors go into that field because they are searching for an answer to their own mental issues.
