    Hess thought the Duke of Hamilton would provide him safe passage. Churchill wasn't going to have another Royal embarrassment. The Duke of Windsor abdicated before the trip to Germany.

      His entire motive for that was to keep Britain from fighting against Germany which would have allowed them to continuing to attempt to take over the entire planet, without Britain's interference.
      NOT exactly an honorable mission.

    There is some quest ion as to whether the man in Spandau was the real Hess. An American military doctor who examined the man at Spandau said there was no trace of the gunshot wound through the lung that Hess had suffered during WW1.

      Indeed, The man in Spandau prison was a fraud "Actor". The real Hess had a low voice, the fake Hess didn't. Dr. Hugh Thomas made a book out of this. The real Hess is killed in a Sunderland bomber crash in Scotland in 1942. Tomas Rosd (Dutch writer) also made articles about it.

    From the very beginning I am very suspicious in terms of the "research" conducted by these "experts". They state that the date of this incident is May 11, 1941, yet the true date was May 10. Secondly, (and I am only at the 3 minute mark of watching this) they state that some anti-aircraft unit was ordered not to shoot at his aircraft. Difficult to believe! He crossed the Scottish coast at a remote area at night. There were no big searchlight batteries, nor anti-aircraft batteries as per London in this area. This "Doc" smells bad from the "Get Go". They state that Hess lost his influence and status after 1933. Completely untrue. His status began to wane after the defeat of France in June, 1940. What forever puzzles me is that a TRUE war criminal like Speer was given a mere 20 years in prison, yet Hess was given LIFE in prison.

      No it is a known FACT that by 33 Hitler's constant playing of each follower against each other had left Hess sidelined by Goering, Himmler and Gobbles .Hess was a natural follower rather than leader, he got pushed aside by more ambitious people. Also at 13:47 they clearly say 10th of May so you're more than a little off on both statements.

    • @JakeSpeed1000
      @JakeSpeed1000 7 месяцев назад

      I agree that there are a lot of factual errors in this documentary and it is poorly done, but I am convinced there is more to the reason he was held so long and the mystery of his death, than we are being told. Don't let a poorly made documentary take away from the fact that he basically sat the war out in prison yet was punished far worse than thousand of Germans who were directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands. Many mass murders were sentenced to 10 years and then released after 4 years for health reasons yet they live 20 more years as free men.

    I think that the Americans, British and French were anxious to shut down spandau. It had become a black hole for the careers of enlisted men and lower ranking officers. Many times. The allies wanted to let him go so they could shut spandau down. More so to release themselves from having to guard him as for any sense of mercy. The Soviets refused to entertain the idea. I think an American Sergeant decided to put everyone out of Hesse's miser and strangled him, staging it poorly to loom Luke suicide.

      at the time of his death the British were in charge of guarding the prison, all four powers would take turns in doing so, the soviet contingent would have been next in line. if someone had a hand in his death it would have been the Brits. also, the soviets didnt need the prison as a stepping stone into west Berlin, all four powers had rights to move freely throught the city, west and east.
