I am renovating/ updating my bathroom. I had a similar light fixture. I spray painted mine with Krylon matte black and added Edison bulbs...they look updated and very nice. With the cost of paint, shelving and new flooring, I really didn’t have it in my budget for a new light fixture. I’m very pleased with my solution.
Use LED bulbs...they barely warm up! I have plant leaves from my houseplants leaning right ON bulbs and the leaves don't even stress being 80 degrees or whatever.
This looks beautiful. It seems to block some of the light. I’m going to try other was to do this that won’t block out the light. I don’t have a window in my bathroom so I want all the light that I can get. Thank you for the inspiration
There's a new invention called an LED bulb. You may have heard of it? 🙄It's not meant to be permanent, it's a quick cheap fix for a renter or those on limited funds. It's not about the fabric, it's about the idea. I give her credit for coming up with one and making a video to help others. But keep putting down those who try to put out positive things in the world. You will keep getting all that negativity back and then some.

Nice ! In my home I use only LED lights ,for few reasons ,not only economic ,but safety too and looks - endless ,need something super i suggest to stop by at your local bulb and batteries store -they normally had so many new, improve , futuristic things...Tired to change regular bulbs - buy long term LED - in my kitchen its goes on 8 year -always cool to touch. Brightness -very personalized ,I prefer the brightest in the closets and kitchen island ,rather the bathroom . Like the Idea and lovely done ! A+.
Nice affordable idea. Not certain but the builder might've installed the light fixture a bit too high above the sink? I'd attach some wide ribbon, craft wood, metal or bead trim along the bottom edge to visually lower the fixture. And to help hide/camouflage the unfinished interior of the valance. Heat-proof materials, of course. These multi-bulb bath fixtures get pretty hot. (Unless you're using cooler LED bulbs, as others here suggest.)
Chaz cute project easy and satisfies that quick need for a fix. Looks cute. I hope you used led lights as they are cool to the touch except the area by where they screw in to the socket. You don't want a fire. Great looking. Love your projects. I, pretty sure you research before putting any thing near some thing that is hot and could start a fire. You have a huge and beautiful home. I also don't feel you want to burn it down. Lol any Thank you for sharing.
U still have room...or u cd use those spring rod curtain rod mounts. U could just lift off the shade as needed, like for cleaning. Clean with lint roller as u would a lampshade.
@@kkabsher4601 Oh, right! I'm thinking off those lightweight rods that wd form a sort of shallow 'C' shape if viewing in cross section...not sure they're still sold. Very common in the ''70's. The rod wd just lift off the brackets.
i was so excited I went out and bought the materials and spent an hour making this for my bathroom. then I had to use the rest room, well it was so dark in there that i tripped and fell. As I fell I hit my toothbrush which flung in the air knocking the valance just a bit because it is flimsy. I didnt realize it shifted and because I leave my lights on most of the time, the whole thing caught fire. in one day I am now homeless and writing this comment to save others from the house fire I had to endure.
Just be careful about your bulb wattage... That foam core board will melt and it doesn't have to get that hot to do it. Ask me how I know 😂. (It wasn't a light fixture.)

I love your idea with the light..I do love the Edison bulb look
Your idea is much better than the valance idea.
@@susanvino2845 thank you 😊
Looks nice.. But… I would be worried about using foam board near lightbulbs..
Use LED light bulbs, should cut down the heat produced

If you use the save energy new lightbulbs they don’t get very hot.
Led
Why not just go to a big box store and buy new fixture for 30 bucks. By the time you buy all that other crap it would end up the same price.

Very nice and a great idea.
Darkens bathroom too much but would be nice to have in a bedroom for ambiance
I think it looks beautiful
It seems pretty flimsy, blocks a lot of light, and I wonder about the fire hazard! I also thought the fabric was pretty boring.

LED BULB!.....LED BULB!....LED BULB!....LED BULB! y'all apparently light your Xmas tree with all real candles, too! Get with the times!

Looks beautiful. You always come up with the best designs.
Great job!!!
Love it! I really like your choice of fabric too!
Wow that's awesome love it, great idea 💡 thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Nice remedy but a sheer fabric would allow light to pass. Just replace the light fixture!

this a great idea! I might try this with translucent plastic.
Wow, I remember when those lights were trending and couldn’t wait to get them. I’m getting so old 😆😆😆

Uhhhh, neat idea. I love that blue color. I can see some tiny Seashells glued around it 🤩
It’s not safe! Go to Home Depot and buy a new fixture. Safety first!
It's perfectly safe. Led bulbs don't get hot.
Very 😎 cool!
Very beautiful, I wish I was creative
NICE Love it 💘

Very nice
Good idea
Great job!
I’m going to try something like it
Seems like it could be a fire hazard if the bulbs got hot
Did you have to use a LOW TEMP hot glue?
You can also paint the light fixture and add Led Edison bulbs.
That would block some of the light
If you r going to go to all that trouble, I suggest u use more substantial materials. Foamboard can melt if it gets hot…right?
If you ever worry about nail use stain pins hold like nails. They very sturdy an apt manger told me about this trick many yrs ago.
what are 'stain pins'. don't understand.
I'd put, loose woven linen or burlap across the bottom too
SAFER TO USE THIN PLYWOOD
How do u change the bulbs?
I think she used velcro to attach it to the wall

There isn’t anything for a tension rod to attach to.

Girl I love the glue gun .☺️
It’s a fire hazard. Spend $20 for a cheap overhaul, can of spray paint and new bulbs.
Not for me, I think it looks awful..But as long as they are happy, that's what counts..I prefer Rhonda Davis's idea in comment below
That looks really nice but it cuts down in the amount of light in the room.
Buy a new light!!!!

Nice fire hazard
A whole lot darker in there … naaa I need light 💡
Clever
Seen this video too many times before. Stop the repeats
Fire hazard
DUH! Never heard of LED bulbs? 80 degrees is NOT a fire hazard!
Foam melt proof or fire proof? And are you a certified electrician to recommend doing this??
How OLD are your light bulbs? Geesh! Get some LED bulbs...obviously!
I'm sorry...who are you...what is your name? You were talking so fast all I could make out was from Hometalk.

I can hear just fine . I'm even a bit hard of hearing!
Or you could just change it to a pretty light fixture. 🙄 This is starting to remind me of 5 minute crafts 😒
