Same here. Saw them several times when they were touring in Holland. I saw a lot of bands live those days, but The Wedding Present were the best band live.
My best band in my life.I bumped into Dave whilst they were doing a small gig. He motioned to me if I wanted a pint? I froze, but thanks anyway Dave.Your the best mate!
Peter Solowka took me a while to realise that the emotional intensity of the early records that resonated was not the the lyrics, it was the emotional churning core of the band, first listens it seemed incongruous but became the reason why weddoes ruled early 90s teenage hearts.. then we had Hit Parade Paul Dorrington a proper rock guitarist ... and then ... well karoke tributes..
This is the video that hooked me; I think it must've been on 120 Minutes on MTV. I haven't seen this in decades, but I went looking for them the very next day in fat chance Cedar Falls, Iowa. I was actually able to find two albums (Seamonsters and Bizzaro) the next day and I was hooked.
Think I still have the UK import CD single for this song somewhere, which I got in part due to the track 2 cover of the Velvet Underground's 'She's My Best Friend', but mostly due to the poignant anguish of heartbreak in the lyrics and vocals of this song. I didn't even know this video was uploaded on RUclips 10 years ago, as I was looking for it for ages before. It was one of the first music videos I'd converted from an old VHS copy and uploaded to my channel, decades ago, only to get hit with a DMCA despite the fact that as far as I knew, this video wasn't available anywhere online at the time. Either way, glad to see it's finally up officially. ;)
You've told him lies now for so long Yet still he's ready to forgive He's got you back and that's all he wants A lot more than I'm left with You don't care now that you're gone But do you know how much I miss you? It's not fair after all you've done That I'm so... I still want to kiss you And throwing presents straight away Because you could never take them home Always scared what he might say But always leaving me alone You don't care, now that you're gone But do you know how much I miss you? It's not fair after all you've done That I'm so... I still want to kiss you You told him what he wants to hear And so you got another chance But I was yours for seven years Is that what you call a dalliance? You don't care, now that you're gone But do you know how much I miss you? It's not fair after all you've done That I'm so... I still want to kiss you
Didn't realise original guitarist Peter played on this. Soooooo good. Pure white noise in the middle there, thanks to Steve Albini (if memory serves me)
play it loud: neighbors complains. louder: cops are coming. a bit more: windscreen crack, they’re leaving. I enjoy this, listening to the Wedding, alone: how to mix melancholy, harmonies in a such powerful way. Live they’re even better, guess I love the world, life and my deaf dog.
Remember Gedge saying (live) he loved Watusi (not the most successful WP’s album): this isn’t my favorite track (prefer Spangle; Shivers sounds the same way to me: slow, melancholic, keyboard…) but this video is fun: secret agents movies parody with double sense lyrics.
I wonder how much Albini influenced how this song wound up. It feels 100% like he said, let's forget about vocals and just go 100% jangly guitar. Trust me. Or I quit.
Dave Gedge and Steve Albini = magic
Discovered this after a thirty year marriage ended. Absolutely LOVE seamonsters.
My favorite Albini recording RIP
one of the best album in the 90's
The one chord hold. And then the drop into the chorus. Absolutely brilliant.
Yes!!!!!
That's why they call it dalliance
Best band I've ever seen live.100%.
Couldn't agree more... seeing them in the 90's in The Brixton Academy is one of my all time favourite gigs

Albini records. He doesn’t produce. That’s his thing. According to him.
The best track from the best album by the best band.
Kind.of a forgotten classic. Their best tune
Saw them Saturday: still going strong!
Best line up ever at this time
My best band in my life.I bumped into Dave whilst they were doing a small gig. He motioned to me if I wanted a pint? I froze, but thanks anyway Dave.Your the best mate!
What a great band
What a great song
What a flawless and great album
Ho ly shit . . . . Heard this a thousand times, and still…. it gets to me... every time.
Steve Albini brings out the best in bands great stuff
Maybe their best out of a deep catalogue of good tunes
This WAS my break up song...Fantastic e tears.
I just love how the song constantly ramps up in intensity until the end.
Fantastic track from their album Seamonsters. We saw them live recently in Norwich and met Dave Gedge, what a superb night!
Brings back so many memories of what I was doing when at that time in my life I was listening to The Wedding Present ❤️

Brilliance.

I just love his sad songs. Still make me cry (almost)
Then you might love 'St. Swithin's day' by Billy Bragg....which is a marvel of a black hole no matter what his leftist crap.
stunning!
great album- thanks albini
amazing-great album!!
funny , i do still miss her despite everything , thanks wedding present...
This came out at the same time as THE break up of my life. Ironic really, I still miss you, I still want to kiss you Mand.7X.
It's never too late
@dani cali It's never too late to realise you've got over someone :)
One word; awesome!
Still Amazing
Makes me want to buy an SG more than ever now. Thanks for that.
You should! I bought one second hand. One of the best guitars I ever played... and widely available second hand if you're strapped for cash like me.
listened to this constantly when I was at university
Good stuff ... how can not have seen this before
You've told him lies now for so long
Yet still he's ready to forgive
He's got you back and that's all he wants
A lot more than I'm left with
You don't care now that you're gone
But do you know how much I miss you?
It's not fair after all you've done
That I'm so...
I still want to kiss you
And throwing presents straight away
Because you could never take them home
Always scared what he might say
But always leaving me alone
You don't care, now that you're gone
But do you know how much I miss you?
It's not fair after all you've done
That I'm so...
I still want to kiss you
You told him what he wants to hear
And so you got another chance
But I was yours for seven years
Is that what you call a dalliance?
You don't care, now that you're gone
But do you know how much I miss you?
It's not fair after all you've done
That I'm so...
I still want to kiss you
Loved this line up.
Seamonsters..."what lies beneath"...
Absolutely incredible
Love this and Cinerama
Amazing! Thanks for posting.
Steve Albini turned TWP into a mighty beast while producing this album! R.I.P.
they were already mighty with George Best
Semi legindery
Pure genius..
We don’t do encores. Great band.
Didn't realise original guitarist Peter played on this. Soooooo good. Pure white noise in the middle there, thanks to Steve Albini (if memory serves me)
Yeah Albini produced this.
me neither - for some reason I thought for sure it was a different line up to Bizarro.
@@damnspynovels does it fucking matter?

Best line up is the original line up
2.23 ❤️
Dave went on to star in 'The League of gentlemen'.
As what character?
Bleak but beautiful.
The animals on the farm always reacted well to this one, made me a few bob on good milking time

Comment for yeah yeah video. Dalliance is such….powerful & subtle
reminds me of John Peel
Andy Atkinson Albini tried to capture the band’s reckless abandon / raw live sound, just like Peel in his sesions ~5 years earlier..
Ohh festive 50 so miss it
Fiery Jack

I assume the 5 thumbs down are u2 or rem fans.
Or pesky Morrissey fanatics
She left you David, cos you couldn't sing, mate
Yeah, forget her. She had no class.
Maybe because he refused to sing in a dull genetic mid Atlantic accent.
Seamonsters....Life Time Top Ten album 🔥🔥🔥
stunning!
