Tariffs are a very tricky topic. You have to have a flexible plan and a deep understanding of all of the economic AND political factors that are going to come into play. If you think you can just push a certain button and get a desired result, you are the last person who should be playing this game... This all said I have long opposed tariffs, but not at this time.. We desperately need to jump start domestic manufacturing.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer. I think that business has learned a few things and if manufacturing is completely done in this country it will probably include their own trucking.
@@clarekramer411 I don’t think so, from the owners of big trucking companies(300-500 trucks) I’ve heard that net profit is around 1-2% so I doubt there is a lot of willing to do that , I’m not talking about heavy weighters like swift and Schneider because they have huge contracts and still even looking at them I can make a conclusion if someone using such a big companies there is probably no need/no profit to have your own trucks plus it’s not so easy to build your own trucking companies, hire drivers, constant issues along the road etc
I disagree most manufacturing companies do not have their own trucking it is higher doubt simply because they do not want the headache of dealing with drivers truck repair so on and so forth

When a tariff is imposed, prices go up. When prices go up, demand for product goes down. If demand for product goes down, freight demand goes down. If there is a short term spike (up) in freight demand by retailers trying to stockpile product, there will be an equal short term spike (down) in freight demand since retailers will be overstocked for a while. If manufacturing does return to the US, it won't happen immediately, so freight volumes will be down for an extended period. When manufacturing does return, products will be manufactured at a higher wage, which increases cost, and reduces demand, which will also force down demand for freight for an extended period. Many companies that are currently just barely surviving will go out of business. That has the potential to reduce the number of carriers, which would be beneficial for the ones that survive.
It depends on what kind of freight you haul. Flatbed will benefit from tarrifs as we haul raw materials parts and equipment for manufacturing. Dry van out of the ports will suffer.
Yeah the container guys are probably gonna hurt the worse if I had to guess. But if we actually do get more manufacturing here in the US then I suppose they could pull locally for those places.
Even with higher tarrifs, it would still be cheaper to import rather than manufacturing and consuming domestically. So no, domestic manufacturing isn’t obtainable as of yet and tarrifs isn’t the answer.
Increased Tariffs don’t necessarily mean price increase. In lots of cases this is nothing but negotiating leverage. Look at from seller or manufacturer prospective. If the demand goes down because of high prices that means the manufacturer has to adjust the entire process to produce less, but at the same time someone else could step in with a better price ( let’s assume from a country where the tariffs are lower). The US is still the number one market where everyone is trying to sell their product. It’s complicated, because there are economic, political and social laws involved in this process
Just don’t pay attention to what these other countries are doing. They are linking up to not have to rely on the U.S. they are willing to take a loss just to get away from the b.s.
Tariffs will just hurt all sides. Auto parts from China and certain produces in Mexico. It will simply make it more expensive which will make consumers rethink their purchase decision
Your last sentence is the exact point. When a foreign product that's made and sold cheap bc the use of slave labor suddenly becomes expensive by the use of tariffs. That opens up an alternative market for it to be manufactured domestically, which almost always comes with a higher quality and liveable wages to those who are making said product. Not to mention the environmental impact of producing at home instead of shipping from the other side of the planet from countries that do not care about the environment.
Thank for you consistent, open and fair assessment and broadcast love your channel I would like to ask a question IF you have a factory that is is fully American as the CEO wouldn’t you buy your own trucks to move your product! So with that said would that not in return lower the need of small businesses owners (truckers) so please do a part 2 of this video because even if lOVES fuel ⛽️ uses and owner op to do a delivery they in return use their own trucks 90% of the time This information makes no sense Not on you behave but on the source that you got this information
Tariffs is just bad all around and has always been. It never has made a company want to add more production here due to tariffs that some myth they like to use. It will always be trick down to the buyer so what's the point of bring production here if they don't need to.
Bad for who, China, Mexico & Canada. Get your mind right Luke. Tighten up your belt. We need to produce r own products in our own Nation with American's,[( not Mexicans). 1st world ppl made this Nation, not 3rd world ppl].
All y'all saying we would have to import materials to build do realize we ship mats off to china to be processed and then shipped back as something else right?
3:45 Tariffs don't you remember 2017 too 2020 trucking small mom and pop business where doing great with Trump stop listening to big carriers they don't care about us.Bring back Manufacturing back to USA. Trucks are cheap to buy now
@hatchett999ify have you seen the used truck market?! You can buy a quality good working truck for less than 30k. That's less than 3 weeks gross if you got into the right commodity. In 20 weeks you could be paying cash for 80k dollar truck that everything has been redone in. Every kink has been worked out. New truck prices are for mega carriers and the already successful owner ops that are looking to avoid paying too much in taxes.
@ 😳😳 what country are you in? Your assumption Is based on the perfect scenario. While looking on the spot market I don’t see it. Which commodity are you speaking of? Tanker division? That’s contract work or you’re leased on to someone with the contract. Heavy Haul perhaps?? Or are you speaking on the 1 person who told you what they’re doing and you believed it? 30k In 3 weeks? Team loads perhaps??
It's delusional to think that manufacturing will return without lowering labor costs to levels whereby people in this country can maintain their current lifestyle
As a beginner, having a mentor is crucial for accountability and guidance. I suggest Miss Shirley Mae Crisler is extremely good on that. She is really good at what she does, Now I can pay so many bills because of her help.
Also, if you're looking at it from a not logical way, people can speculate. If this means more factory jobs and factories We're coming back to the country. That would mean nothing and prices won't go up. This is an incentive from basically being ripped off, and this bs of moving, or I should say, outsourcing companies into other countries. To make the same products supposedly cheaper supposedly. But if you spend more on the product that comes in, the prices will go down, but if that business is doing business in another country that does nothing for this country but raising prices, which Okay. They got to play by the rules just as we do. But I do not think the tariff is a bad thing. When they're in set, when there is incentives for companies to build in America like we should have for the past 40 years would have been a great start. But the geniuses of our government Or I should say, the lack thereof dumbed down society enough to make more issues more problems. We don't need more housing, but Hey, let's just do that and waste money on stupid things. We need businesses in order to make those houses that would be helping the economy. In that area, but also the corruption in the government also needs to be attended to send it as backward idiotic. Nonsense logic continues. Oh, and the factories in Mexico and other countries that was a dumb thing that this country could have done by allowing that to happen, just saying the dumbest people on earth, apparently at the helm, in the 90s that created this nonsensical. Yes, that we don't need. Just like the illegals Prices would have been probably lower. Better quality standards would be high, and they're threating over taxes. That was the reason why they jumped the border. I'm pretty sure there wasn't no political nonsensical thing going on there, but I will say the corrupt ones definitely need to be removed the term outsourcing when that came out in the 90s. Those people who did that and all those that pushed these companies out of this country should be arrested and removed with no pension. Because they cost this country a great deal of work. Great deal of making great products. And just pissing it away on stupid ideas that they have at me what they had See, if you have a business and people are spending money at your business, you're going to succeed, but get a bunch of people that don't know that business move them in the areas and pushing out the customers. What happens to that business? This has been going on for way too long. This stupid nonsense and excuses for things that continue is unjust?
what happened to the post from the guy asking you to do a reaction video on the CEO of Truckstop? all you do is reaction videos to information that is out there right? I read what he wrote and it was not disrespectful in anyway to anyone, he simply asked for you to do a reaction video, and I thought you were a voice for the small owner operator, well you just lost a subscriber, put his comment back up
We are F in the trucking industry once trumps tariffs kick in. It will take some time to kick in because the economy is doing okay now. Last time there was a trade war, we had supply chain issues. For all those who think manufacturing in America will make things better for the trucker, well, keep dreaming. Cooperation is run on American greed. Why do you think the jobs left the US in the first place. By the way, most American truckers haul some kind of finished product, not raw materials. Raw materials are mostly haul by local small mom/pap company. Tariffs will be a trucker purge.
Everyone seems to forget about all the trucks moving containers from the port... They will transition first making it almost an unrecognized shortage for trucks period. Then on top of the extra 65k approved work visas for foreigners added to the industry plus extra jobs created... Simply put, we as American workers who have families, homes and debt here in America will never be able to compete with cheap labor foreign or domestic. Then look further, after the tariffs are put in place those countries will start sending more of their foreigners here for labor jobs because they can't survive back home... Causing even more jobs to be filled by non Americans. It's a cause and effect situation. Does it help our economy?...guess that all depends on if your a laborer or a boss. Everyone buys the hype of "HOPE" and that's why People like Gregg at freightwaves sells his ridiculous product. This industry at scale is small company majority and nothing ever changes... Same talk different year...makes it so easy to predict. Just like the American jail system and until people stop regurgitating the same old BS the industry will continue to forever operate lost and confused. Anyone desperate is easy to manipulate....that's why loads are still being hauled for a loss profit and you still have people who say "it's to cover fuel to get in a better area"... If that's your business model, you have ZERO authority to say anything about how cheap freight rates are! "Let's all shut down for 3 days..that will show em".... If you won't deadhead for better rates and leave cheap loads at docks now...then stop worrying about the rates. 😂 again it's a revolving door that majority can not grasp why it keeps happening.
IF it works, it will be painful, and it will take years. The system that owns the world has only one goal , and that's profit it's just digging the same hole just in a different spot. I'll remain skeptical until common human decency becomes profitable. So, it's not happening. Just my 2 cents
Trump’s tariffs threat to various countries is a a bargaining chip. For all those whack job economists who never have to answer for all the wrong predictions they make , all you got to do is look at Trump’s first term. How was the economy then ( outside of the pandemic)? It was much better than now. I realize this is good for clickbait but discussing economics with most truckers who don’t even know their costs per mile seems like teaching a class in trigonometry when they really need to learn basic math.
Orange elvis inherited a good economy and he fumbled during COVID. Watch him fumble again and run the country into the ground. Manufacturing won't fully come back because corporations are to greedy to pay the American workers what they're worth.
😂😂😂😂 you’re a clown right with him. Why are your taxes going up? Trump. He did it in his first term. Why. Did the debt ceiling get blown the fuck up. Trumps first term. You seem to be fooled by look here not there.
It's always fun chopping it up, finance and politics. Monday morning quarterbacking etc. But let's not give up our day jobs, Lol! Because we're horrible at it. Tariffs science is way above our heads, and even when fully understood isn't what really happens. Tariff fear and hysteria probably has more effect than the actual tariffs themselves. They're many types of tariffs, blanket, targeted, protectionism, retaliatory etc. A chess game, mostly behind the scenes, and a hotbed for corruption. Let's be honest with ourselves brethren. If we even had a clue on industry predictions, we would have known full well when the industry pulled out the stops for the pandemic glut, that once the surplus freight was mopped up, there would be thousands of empty trucks and trailers going belly up. Duh. Yet everyone stood around pointing fingers to lay blame. BIDENOMICS!!! Lol!!! RRRightt. Now were trying to figure out tariffs in trucking?!?!😮 Again. We take ourselves wayyyy to seriously. Way!!
Personally I'm not a fan of buying American made goods. They're overpriced, many are poorly designed and cheaply made and put together by a lazy Workforce that's not even good with quality control. And if it's an American company they're always trying to figure out how to produce it in a different country and convert the lower operating costs for shareholder gains. Which attract more shareholders.
It will make potentially imports more expensive less demand, but the purpose is to favor buying USA, made and business back. This will create substantially more need for trucking on materials, as finished products catch up and balance out. In the medium run, will be better for trucks. Especially!! Because he is gonna make other countries buy American! So someone is gonna have to carry those almonds and US Auto, parts all things to the ports etc. !!! Which is an obvious benefit, and a huge one! Will be better in 1 year and get better and better. Until y'all make Kamala Harris your Lord and Savior. Good luck.
People this country used to run on tariffs with no income tax which I think will be a great thing and yes it will make you think do I really need all this stuff. In reality you could live without half the crap you purchase anyway.
You Americans have to understand like Englishman 20th century was American century and 21st I Chinese century and you can do nothing about it. This is just temporary. Sooner you realize it will be better for you to transition to 2nd place
Yes he will. People have been paying more for the last 20years for crappy stuff. What makes you think they won’t pay more for better quality, local stuff?
It's bad news. People only like higher prices when they're selling something. These proposed tariffs are raising the prices of just about everything Americas like to buy so you tell me how that's a good thing. Some people insist that this means manufacturing will come back to the States. I'll be waiting for them factories to build themselves overnight, using a bunch of materials we have to bring in from overseas. You know, the ones with the increased tariffs? Call me in 4 years when they're finally up and running, if we're lucky, Also, while you're at it, let me know how we're going to replace the output of countries that have a combined workforce 5+ times larger than ours? Magical thinking won't pay the bills of regular people.
Please tell me how killing our oil production four years ago helped our economy. Just by drilling oil and producing it here we can offset all the costs of building and producing our goods here. Go screw yourself you commie scumbag. Keep sending your money overseas.
Interesting point however it’s gonna take 10 years to get facilities built to manufacture the supply lines not to mention the raw materials that are going to be needed for most of this and then getting Americans to work for far less than what they do now to compete with foreign markets. I don’t know too many billionaires are gonna take a 10 year hedge bed on a maybe. Prices will go up. Everything will cost more economy will have seen inflation. We will be in a worse position than we are today. If you can wait 10 years, it might work
@chrishoefer3325 yeah OK just like when Obama said the economy would never come back then Trump took office and overnight the economy came back. What was the quote o Something about a magic wand. It's just not being stupid and selling out to third world countries.
@ he brought the economy back long before Trump 😂😂😂 Trump rode his coattails and then proceeded to ruin it … then print 8 trillion in fake money …. Started a trade war with China over farming in 2018 which cost tax payers 30 billion to bail out the farmer on his failed tarrrifs …U have a warped memory. I hate hurting your feelings with facts 😉 Have a blessed day you’re gonna need it !
@jonathanmcguire7799 shut the front door you're a fn moron if you really believe that. 🙄 Obama is responsible for the crash in 08-09 not Bush. Investors don't invest when we choose a shity president. Investors do invest when you choose good president's. The effects are seen immediately not 4 years later. Stop the foolishness Noone is buying the bs anymore.
@chrishoefer3325 yeah OK fruitcake just like killing the domestic oil production won't raise fuel prices. Gtfoh you moron the election of Obama killed the economy because money isn't invested in the US when socialist agendas are being brought forward. Keep drinking the kooliad. I'm ashamed I have to share the air with people as stupid as you.
Manufacturing looks like pollution! That part of manufacturing hasn't been fixed since the solution years ago was to manufacture overseas curbing domestic pollution.
I BELIEVE WE LIVE IN AMERICA WE SHOULD BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS!!! If product are made here trucks will deliver to the manufacturer and the consumer 💯💯💯💪
nonething matters-- except the stregnth of the dollar- all this other stuff is just chaff. teh dollar gets stronger it will buy more, price wont matter as much. in 1968 a $1 bought 20 candy bars for 5 cents each. in 2024 that same dollar cant even buy 1 bar unless on sale. however gold and silver will still buy the same amount if not more than it did in 1968. everyone focuses on wages and prices and tariffs but never on teh dollar. Few understand we are using federel reserve notes which is credit- just an IOU. fake money. by Law a U.S. dollar is 1 oz of fine silver. they took gold and silver away. stop worrying about tariffis and get our money back in our hands. also- before income tax- the country ran off tariffs and corporate taxes only. income tax came about in WWI which started as 1% tax on teh wealthy- of course the crooks extended the idea, the rich learned how to avoid it and they put all teh burden on teh poor and middle class- The income tax was supposed after the world war- but teh Corporate and foreign owed federal govt has been in a perpetual war since may 15 1861- so they never dropped the income tax. In addition - the income tax is diverted and goes through a puerto rican trust fund to the elites. Your income tax doesnt run the govt. for in depth information, with documented proof visit justice www.annavonreitz.com find out the real story- and see the actual documents and truth
They are bad news for trucking. If companies can’t afford the goods for a higher price and therefore the lack of freight means less loads and if less loads truckers will suffer . If people can’t afford the goods that means less money going into the economy and the economy will suffer. The Tarif can be a crippling foe
@@adventuresofaliftime4989 what world you living in. If yall understand Tarif and it being put on foreign countries; the companies that by the goods or manufacturing parts ect those companies are gonna pay more to get those products and if those companies have to pay more to the goods from foreign countries? Y’all think these companies are gonna charge less to sell their products to the American people after they paid way more for foreign goods ? answer no !!!!! Business 101 if yall understand run in a business you know you run your business to make money and selling your products for what you paid to get it doesn’t make sense. Yes we are gonna pay for those tariffs in the long run. It’s evident some don’t understand ECONOMICS. The American companies will be the one to feel the tariffs impact and they in turn will just get it back out of the American consumers by upping the price on merchandise in the stores and buying houses cars ect. We gone feel the effect of tariffs in our pockets
It’s absolutely zero benefit to build domestically. Too expensive and we don’t have all the raw materials to build products. So we back to importing supplies. Lastly. It will take years to build some of the manufacturing plants. By time trucking will continue to take hit.
@ many items can be made here. Farming everything out to foreign countries for cheap labor lowers the standard of living in this country. Yes your cheap tennis shoes may cost more but maybe they won’t come apart as soon as you step in your first mud puddle. In some circumstances it’s a National security issue. Energy, medicine, etc. Not everything has to be made here but many American businesses that chose to move their plants overseas and then import those goods to America to sell should be taxed. As is many countries have tariffs on our goods and illegally subsidize their own companies (in violation of trade agreements) and create an unfair trade disparity with the U. S. Also in some cases it’s not about reciprocal trade as much as it’s to get the other country to do what we want them to do like using the tariff threat to leverage them into helping with securing our border. All you have to do is look at Trump’s first term. He used the tariffs and or threat of tariffs to negotiate better deals for this country. Did he cause high inflation? No! Were interest rates lower? Yes! Was the economy better? Oh yes ! ( excluding the pandemic which hadn’t been seen before in my 63 years on this planet). Don’t have time to go into further details now, time to drive. Can debate it with you further later if you want.
OK, first of all we’ve already been through this once before when Trump got elected. The last time manufacturing increased here locally by 30%. I was the owner operator at the time I went for making 135,000 a year to 285,000 a yearunder Trump then went from 283,000 under Biden down to $85,000 a year so make that math add up
Some of you are so damn dumb. Trumps Tariffs caused me to have to buy and gamble on a $33,000 backup truck because my main truck needed an $800 CPC4, a part that needs a semiconductor and took 9 months and 3 weeks to get to me. So instead of paying $800, I had to pay $33,000 just to stay in business. Thanks Trump.
Everything will be more expensive and less loads as mentioned if everything is built here, and it will take a while years to accomplish this,. It's also not a good idea because America is known for lawsuits and settlements, so it's not a good idea , only the super wealthy win in the long run and everyone else pays the price..

Freight Waves just wrote that spot rates have escalated from $2.38 to $2.52. Can you speak to this? All i see is load board posts of $1.88 + -
She already said it. Spot rates are higher because domestic corporations are placing more orders prior to the Trump tariffs.
What she said doesn't speak to the question specifically. $2.38 to $2.52 per mile as in Freight Waves article today.

IF you have a factory that is is fully American as the CEO wouldn’t you buy your own trucks to move your product! So with that said would that not in return lower the need of small businesses owners (truckers) so please do a part 2 of this video because even if lOVES fuel ⛽️ uses and owner op to do a delivery they in return use their own trucks 90% of the time
This information makes no sense
Not on you behave but on the source that you got this information
There is always two sides of the coin. Tariffs can work both ways, and that will affect the American consumers indefinitely .
3:45 Tariffs don't you remember 2017 too 2020 trucking small mom and pop business where doing great with Trump stop listening to big carriers they don't care about us.Bring back Manufacturing back to USA. Trucks are cheap to buy now
Did you say trucks are cheap to buy?? You’re made of gold huh??
@ better yet… point me towards those 30k trucks that’s been refurbished. I will take 3 jut to hold
It's delusional to think that manufacturing will return without lowering labor costs to levels whereby people in this country can maintain their current lifestyle
Pretty much, all we export is our debt. It's been that way for decades.

You guys need to gooogle tariffs and learn the side effects of its effects stop assuming and read what it means and how it can affect consumers.
Hi Dear, is there any possible way to contact you?
Also, if you're looking at it from a not logical way, people can speculate. If this means more factory jobs and factories
We're coming back to the country.
Just like the illegals
Prices would have been probably lower. And just pissing it away on stupid ideas that they have at me what they had
See, if you have a business and people are spending money at your business, you're going to succeed, but get a bunch of people that don't know that business move them in the areas and pushing out the customers. What happens to that business? This has been going on for way too long. This stupid nonsense and excuses for things that continue is unjust?
It doesn't matter where the products are coming from. Bottom line, it's all about the prices. I'll buy whatever is the cheapest.
what happened to the post from the guy asking you to do a reaction video on the CEO of Truckstop? all you do is reaction videos to information that is out there right? I read what he wrote and it was not disrespectful in anyway to anyone, he simply asked for you to do a reaction video, and I thought you were a voice for the small owner operator, well you just lost a subscriber, put his comment back up

Apocaliptic times in trucking for 2025
We are F in the trucking industry once trumps tariffs kick in.
You are an incredible wealth of knowledge and all the rest ! 😊 Thx

At least Chinese Goods are pretty much the same but at a lower price point so now there's a value boost added to it.
Trump has really done a number on most you folks. 😂😂😂😂😂 wow these comments just scream “Stick it in further Donnie”
Good luck.

If you can wait 10 years, it might work

nonething matters-- except the stregnth of the dollar- all this other stuff is just chaff. teh dollar gets stronger it will buy more, price wont matter as much. in 1968 a $1 bought 20 candy bars for 5 cents each. in 2024 that same dollar cant even buy 1 bar unless on sale. however gold and silver will still buy the same amount if not more than it did in 1968. everyone focuses on wages and prices and tariffs but never on teh dollar.
