Like many things 2016 and beyond, I would never have thought a beloved institution like Disney would become a Marxist stronghold for the next Maoist cultural revolution.
Ruined the already hurting Star Wars franchise, thinks that the Woke approach will bring in more profits, a multi-billion dollar mega-corporation, they have lost touch with the average moviegoer. Wants to appeal to audiences outside of US because it wants more profits, although this film has been banned in many countries because it portrays a gay superheroic character.
If the comparison was to Watchmen the film then it's a bad comparison as Watchmen is a terrible adaptation of Alan Moore's work in itself. And if it's about the comics then I'd take Jack Kirby over Alan Moore any day. But both are comic book greats.
@From Infinity No its not mate. As a fan of the comic, the movie was a god awful adaptation with horrible acting, pacing with a terrible ending. Zack Snyder's obsession to try and replicate the comic panel exactly backfired as he literally to capture rest of the aspect of what made Watchmen a masterpiece in comics. The only thing great about the film was Jackie Earle's performance of Rorshach.
While watching this film, I was struck by how sad and humorless it was. It wasn't enjoyable by any means. The only character that made me smile was Kingo's photographer buddy.
That’s because the director and the writers are sad and humorless and they want everyone else to be just as miserable as they are. These woke losers are as one dimensional as can be. Imagine knowing the only reason you got your job is because of your skin color or what’s in your pants and being PROUD of that?? 😂😂😂😂

Especially the way some of them move, and especially how the speedster moves and attacks. I know die hard fans will be disappointed with the changes, but it makes sense with the plot, especially with the whole thing about having different types of Eternals in order to connect with the humans.
Thor: The Dark World was never bad, it just wasn’t as good as the previous movies. Eternals isn’t the worst Marvel movie, it’s just boring and forgettable. Disney-Marvel would have to TRY to make a worse movie than Captain Marvel.
I found it HILARIOUS that the Eternals waited for that one deviant to kill that little boy’s father before stepping in to defeat him so they could pose.
It doesn't even make sense that the eternals would not interfere in world ending threats to begin with, their goal is to propagate intelligent life on earth (we'll just make it easy and say they're trying to ensure the growth of the human population so a celestial can give Earth the big suck), so not stepping in to stop Thanos, Ultron, and Loki in Avengers 1 is entirely antithetical to this goal, all 3 of those threats are more dangerous to the existence of humanity than the deviants are. This movie is... not as bad as Loki, but it's so damn close.
@@fluff6811 eh. Loki had some enjoyable moments at least. There was really nothing in this movie I liked beyond the immensely underutilized characters like Makkari, thena, and Gilgamesh.

I'd argue that most marvel movies are forgotten in a week. And they don't give a shit about diversity. They pretend to embrace it because they think it helps them make money. They'd promote slavery and child pornography for profit, I'm sure.
I have LOVED Marvel since 2005 and have a lot of respect for Kevin's work at Marvel. But seriously, I couldn't be laughing more at the failure that is Eternals. They sacrificed Black Widow and Shang-Chi for the last days of the pandemic and thought that at this time of year this bomb that is Eternals could exceed 500 MILLION dollars of box office. It's really funny how little attention was given to Shang-Chi and yet this movie has gone over 430 million dollars at the box office. Probably the biggest MCU movie making this year, but only until No Way Home is released. KARMA IS A BITCH
No way home and Shang may have done it at the box office but that's simple because people now accept a much lower standard of film quality. Both were very below average, if not for the cameos, Spiderman would have bombed

He was so dang good in Train to Busan. He was funny, likable, tough, but also vulnerable. You generally cared about his character after you saw his story. I can't imagine what nonsense they probaly had him doing in that Eternals movie.
It took them years to build up to the "Avengers" movie. Many stand alone movies introducing and cementing almost every hero or side hero were made before they tried the big ensemble cast. You knew who the heroes were, their personality, their motivations, their background. Marvel has truly lost its way and is on the rapid decline. The fools in charge think they will START with the ensemble movie with lesser known characters and it will some how be a huge success. No one cares who does what or looks like what, they care if the movie is good. They have to empathize and understand the heroes. No chance for that when you have 10 BRAND NEW CHARACTERS all at the same time. Too many egos in marvel now, each writer and director wants to blow their load right away, no build up, no restraint. Too much focusing on identity politics, too much ego stroking and too much getting high on their own supply.

My god that plot summary made my eyes glaze over. And that’s not a diss at you. I’ve never heard a more convoluted and boring plot for a superhero movie in my life. Just the synopsis was difficult to follow! I can’t imagine how hard it was to make that synopsis man. Thanks for suffering so I didn’t have to!
I think a good explanation as to why this story fails as a film is because the eternals just aren't that interesting. Even in the comics they don't play that great of a role and they don't know how to write them into an interesting storyline. That and trying to shoehorn woke ideas just makes any film not work.
Don't always completely agree with you, Gary, but this film is bad. I've not watched "Black Widow" on Disney+ even though it would marginally cost me only the time, because it's bad. And if anything, "The Eternals" is worse. "Shang-Chi" was weak but was a masterpiece compared to "The Eternals". If Disney keeps mismatching directors to film projects and accepting such poorly written scripts, they are doomed. The cracks have been there for a long time, it was just good actors that we liked and scripts that were at least so-so to brilliant that held things together. Now those good actors and good scripts are gone and the directors are completely unsuited to their films, so things fall apart. Don't expect Bob Chapek to fix things, 'cause fixing things cost money and "Cheapek" don't spend money like that.
Eternals movie logic: -We have to stop Deviants because they will kill humans cutting down the population needed to birth a celestial. -We can't stop Thanos from cutting down the population because reasons.
I don’t protect them, but to be fair they never did anything to Thanos in comics too. I don't even understand why Marvel decided to make a movie about them. They always were boring meaningless characters
Plus I note that the movie says the universe does need the Celestials to, you know, continue to exist, I agree that this is a horribly unjust system, but do the Eternals have any plan of how to replace it in a way that doesn't still ultimately wipe out all life on Earth and EVERYWHERE ELSE?
Angelina Jolie was probably the worst cast character in the eternals. She just looks so out of place and phones in her performance. Absolutely terrible. I watched 15 minutes and shut that shit off
A movie being ‘diverse’ does not mean it gets a free pass if the movie turns out to be an absolute dumpster fire. One day, these professional shills-oops,sorry,- ‘critics’ - will learn this.
I don't think Diversity needs to be a thing anymore. We live in a world where its ok to be gay, black, asian and what not. It's part of our lives, It should not matter one bit when putting out a good story. Look at all the black actors everyone loves so much, Why? Because they came to our lives through good movies and good story telling. It should not matter if a character is gay or black or asian or a female or what not, What matters is that the character is compaling and interesting. Thats all.

While the concept of Eternals is intriguing, the film greatly suffers from having to tell too much with too many characters in too little time and the end result is while it is great in parts, its mostly messy, convoluted and a bit boring at times as the film takes almost 70% of its runtime to introduce all of the characters with a plethora of exposition in between to set up an end of the world finale that is supposed to feel serious, high stake and emotional but as an audience, you feel none of that as you don't feel attached to any of the characters or the story leaving you with a bemused experience in the end. The answer is it's somewhere in the middle, to me its ranks in the middle to lower middle echelon of the MCU.
Not only that, but the premise of the film and all of it's conflicts are fundamentally flawed, there would be no conflict, no film even, if the celestials simply made the eternals incapable of defecting from their plans or made them puppets devoid of free will, which considering the powers and abilities these characters have, is something the celestials would absolutely be capable of doing.

@From Infinity No its not mate. As a fan of the comic, the movie was a god awful adaptation with horrible acting, pacing with a terrible ending. Eternals is a perfect example of Disney interfering with Marvel movies to promote political correctness
- 2 interracial relationships
- an asian female leader
- a film directed by a Chinese woman
- a mute girl with superpowers
- an evil villain who is a white male
- a powerful Indian character who isn’t just the IT nerd
Things it can do better
- why he and she, genders assumed, use they please, dislike
- 2 people who died were people of colour, yet the white people survived
- no transsexuals, everyone is binary
- fetishisation of asian females by white men
- didn’t condemn Donald trump
- the God figure was a male
- strongest hero was a white guy
- black son of gay couple was made to participate in stereotypical toxic masculine activities such as playing football
Overall a very good start, I believe the strong campaigning for social justice overcame minor points such as
- the lack of chemistry between any of the forced romantic relationships
- the lack of chemistry between any of the heroes
- the lack of interesting powers possessed by the heroes
- no character development
- confusing names - can anyone name all the heroes without googling
- the illogical plot -> big red boy created the universe but lost control of a bunch of blue animals, ok then

Just spent a couple days mulling this film over (finally got around to see it) and yeah, this is as bad as Captain Marvel, and that is saying something! This was one of the most predictable films I have ever seen with the most knock-off characters ever. Felt like I was watching a knock-off Dune or something (sure didn't feel like a Marvel movie). Everything about this film felt like it was ripped from different movies; nothing felt authentic, like a JJ Abrahams film. I do think this is Marvel's worst movie; as it was boring, predictable, illogical, and very forgettable. At least the other bad ones tried to be somewhat original.
Do you remember when our super heroes stopped a bank robbery, or a mugging or saved someone in peril? They don't care about the little people in these films, nothing I have seen in the MCU or elsewhere in recent years would I descibe as "heroic deeds."
The only heroes left are in My Hero Academia.
I remember in Spiderman when Peter gives directions to a lost lady and she gives him a churro in thanks; its portrayed as insignificant, boring and funny, as if being an Avenger is saving the planet but is not "cool" helping people in small acts so yeah
@@RanMouri82 And One Punch Man to a lesser degree.
The only street level hero we have is Spiderman. Everyone else is on a global scale . so a petty crime like that is going to be ignored by a group like the avengers and handled by someone like Spiderman.
I'd agree with recently. But I loved in Avengers and Avengers Age of Ultron that they went out of their way to protect the civilians in harms way from the Chitauri and Ultron bots.
Basically they were heroic from Infinity War back.

7:15 this is one thing I genuinely questioned about the uh… “story.” These people were LITERALLY CREATED by gods and they are literally supposed to be the epitome of human standards. They were made to be the best of us… and some of them are deaf, out of shape, or just… don’t look like the “Gods” they’re supposed to be. There is nothing wrong with being deaf or overweight or anything like that but you can’t put that over these characters just to check a box to be able to say “Wow. Audiences will really be able to relate to these gods!” We aren’t supposed to be able to relate to them.
What are gods supposed to look like?
Eternals almost killed me of boredom. I thought being super woke would make me laugh. NOPE!
I laughed while watching 'The Guns of Navarone' the other night, which is 2.5 hours long, and has an INTERMISSION section built into the 4K UHD at the halfway point. This INTERMISSION was also in the theatrical version, becuase the studio figured that viewers might need a break halfway through a 2.5 hour EPIC WAR MOVIE!
Now, EVERY COMIC BOOK MOVIE seemt to be at LEAST 2.5 hours long. And James Bond / Avengers Endgame were both pushing THREE HOUR runtimes, with NO Intermission?
i've seen manny non-woke people in youtube that honestly liked eternals movie, it makes me wonder if there is no bias in these videos, a bit of intelectual honest please

Disney is going to censor the movie in other countries. It is already going to be a mess because there is going to be easy-seeing cutoffs, much like the removed "oh lala" scene from Back To the Future 2.

Oh OK, Netflix effed it up back in 2020, but they restored it. Still, wtf is going on in Hollywood?

Eternals can't be told in 2 hours. Because of how many characters you're introducing in this film and not introducing them piece by piece over previous ones like they've done in the past, I think They need more time for us to care and understand them, you can't introduce 10 new heroes all with such interesting and deep backgrounds and lore in 2 hours especially when the story is so unfocused, so bland, and just overall excuse my french, but very half-assed, not even honestly. I find it hard to believe that there was literally actual effort put towards making this film accurate and capturing the Kirbyness in the characters and world and story.
I wanted to see the celestials so badly, and when they finally show, it's in the worst Marvel movie, and probably one of the worst super hero movies ever. Jack Kirby's characters and legacy deserved more
I havent seen Eternals, but unless its worse than X-Men: The Last Stand, it can't be the worst marvel/superhero/marvel superhero movie

Using the outrage brigades own rules. I mean why not have the annoying Middle Eastern guy play Gilgamesh?
Yeah the actor who played Kingo could have played Gilgamesh. Regarding your thought on a Korean playing Gilgamesh well in the comics Gilgamesh went by different names throughout history like Beowulf who as you know is European.
@@kalpajyoti20 Well yes. Plus it's not like Feige's MCU doesn't have a history of "appropriating and race swapping to woke POC's" other peoples cultural legends, religious faiths and heros. (See; "Black Valkyrie". ) It still remains deeply disturbing and disgusting.

Absolute garbage and that's not including the diversity and LGBT business...The story was crap and very poorly scripted and directed. Angela Joile hardly got any lines but it didn't stop there...the main hero was the villain. Sack Feige quickly , he must be working for DC secretly.
Wait a minute Daredevil is the first disabled superhero in the Marvel and in the Mcu. He had a movie and a tv series.
Not the first time. They also pretend that black panther was the first black marvel superheroes film, even though blade out in early 2000.
That's a man. It doesn't fit the narrative. That's why they also excluded Professor X.
Eternals is not one of MCU's top tier films in my opinion, but it's also not it's 'worst' either as some critics say it is.
@@fluff6811 Yep. The reveal of them being this humanoid robots as opposed to the comics where the Eternals were a result of years of human experiment, mutation and testing by the Celestials.

Ah yes "let's engineer super powerful guardian's to help protect and nurture our young but we'll let them have defects that may affect how well they can fulfill our plan." Makes perfect sense.
I have no issue with someone who is deaf or out of shape or being normal average person being a superhero, that could indeed make a good story, see Daredevil. But when they are purposely built and designed it makes no sense to allow them to have defects.
The problem with this criticism is that the "celestials" are perfect and are capable of creating perfect beings, but they are not.
@@didhethough7304 That was my point.
The Eternals are biological constructs designed and built to protect and nurture the egg state of the Celestials. They can be made to what ever specifications the Celestials want and in what ever quantity they want. So why would beings as powerful as Celestials use defective Eternals? There's one that's deaf, a decided disadvantage by any measure. Then there's one that's perpetually a child, also a disadvantage. If they are meant to protect and nurture young Celestials by guiding a species to a set growth and size to allow a young Celestial to hatch, which takes a massive amount of time and effort. Then why potentially start that process at a disadvantage?
