I specialise in golf course vlogs, golf challenges, golf tips, golf lessons, golf club reviews and the odd golf club unboxing. So pretty much everything golf!
I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

Thanks for the videos Matt.
Looking forward to the future content!
very very good explanation. I have been playing 57 years and never better than 5 handicap at my lowest, now I know why. I had forgotten the fundamentals with which I began in 1965!! In those days I saw Arnold Palmer and later, Jack Nicklaus, live, at Wentworth. BOTH of them did exactly what you so deftly recommended in your superb video. Thank you again. Mike Bayley.
I like this tipps a lot, Coach! They are simple (but are often forgotten and need to be brought back to the mindset) and therefore definately effective. I will try them all together on my next range session.
REAL COACH by MOTHER NATURE!!! THE BEST ONE 🏆🇷🇺
Great tips. Thanks v much - really helpful.
Lockey, great video… super simple and effective. Cheers!
Coach. The easiest way I have found to drive the ball closer to the green is to hit from the forward tees not the back tees. Great video
Haha that definitely helps 😂
I love it when guys play from the blacks and...they have no business doing so...
For golfers like me ,who are older than 80 years old , playing off the red tees makes for a more enjoyable, sensible
game with realistic opportunities of achieving a good score.
If you live long enough , you young golfers might be still playing when you are 80 years old.
Setting my grip " under the lead armpit" is a great visual I do now for every swing. Now at Impact, every thing is in a straight line. Much easier for solid contact and straighter shots. It's a game changer
Good video Coach L and tips are easy to get ⛳️
I like the idea of pushing up with your front foot as you strike the ball.
Great tips!
Great reminders that I can bring to the course. Driver and 3w tee shots are good at the moment, but these are things I'll keep in mind during rounds when things get swirly 😅
Thanks great tips
Great stuff!
Thanks for this tip ive just subscribed and i have found this is what im looking for , i will put this tip into practice tomorrow at my local club..
Brilliant thank you
Great break down. Easy to follow
Thanks for watching.
Great video Matt, would love to see you do a video showing the impact of having the ball position too far forward.
Slicetown city
Or hookersville if you have a close club faced at impact.
As always Coach… Great video! It took me a while to get that ball position to my armpit considering I had it up there by my left toe all the time and my club path was definitely affected. LOL. I also realized I needed a wider stance considering I didn’t feel my swing was repeatable for a while because of that.
Out of interest...if you take a wider stance your ball alignment with the left armpit will move further away.
It's a delicate balance. Launching a space shuttle would be easier.
@@Vnam72 it probably depends on all the other bends and twists you're willing to put your body through, but it doesn't affect it too bad for me. I found much more consistency myself...though my fade turned into a draw and my miss turned into a high hook...
This is great info man..
Let’s gooo 👍
... three point plan for practice 🎉Thanks, John @JWfit 🇬🇧
Thanks for those tips sir. Very helpful
My pleasure
Tip 3 is what I was missing. Can’t wait to try it. 👍🏾
Solid instruction got my vote!
Have to give it a go.
As you state it, the backswing is a mirror image of the follow-through at the end of the swing. Yet due to less acceleration on the backswing the front foot does not raise as much as the back foot at the end of the swing. Genius. Now I judst need to apply that understanding
Cheers coach!
You’re welcome 👍
Cracking vid coach 👌
Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Matt, great video so can you also do one regards how to find the face on the driver, I always look at my driver face after each shot and can see my contact is all over the face. would like to learn how to control the ball flight. cheers
👍great tip
I'm a 1 handicapper and alway struggled with driver. This is the best instructional video I have seen ever...despite 1000s watched before, thanks. .keep up the good work. .
Glad it helped
Saunton looking lovely
Really was 🔥
Carl The East is my favourite course, was a member back in the 80s
Hi Coach, after a severe shoulder injury a year ago, I’m having to adjust my set-up and swing. I’m doing everything you mentioned (pretty much) but a couple of things you didn’t mention, and appear obvious in this video, is that your right foot is set back to a slightly closed position and your clubhead is slightly closed too. When I do that, my drives are much straighter, so long as my swing path is slightly right of the target line too, of course. Would you agree? Cheers and thanks for any help. Best regards from the Giant’s Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland. 😎👍⛳️☘️
looking forward to trying these tips at the range today. but also can we talk about that course....🤤
Will be on a course vlog soon 👌 Saunton East
So when you move the ball forward in your driver setup should you stand a little closer to the ball ?
*Being a senior golfer, should I flair my lead foot out a bits?*
Last tip is speaking to me. Looked at some videos of myself and the extension is way too late.
Good video Coach….
The algorithm caught me we'll, I used to have 14HCP after 2months break I recorded 97 and even 102 🤣🤣🤣,
I struggled with my driver, so this time I thanks the algorithm and to coach _Lockey_ Matt...
Forgot the tips and forgot the feeling, I am gonna take it back in a week hopefully, after reminder from the great tips here..
Thanks again and again
You’re welcome 👍
Attack angle has to be achieved from physics and not intent. When it's attempted through intent the left arm will collapse and the shut the face. From the player's intention they're believing they're hitting down on the ball but the physical placement of the ball only allows and positive angle of attack.
I am definitely the number 3 example, which shortens my driver distance...QUESTION: any particular " feel " I can strive for to help me plant that lead heel at the correct time?....thank you
This might help 👍

@@CoachLockey yes , I will work on this ground pressure drill .....thank you very much !!!
Coach, I've got medical equipment on the left side of my abdomen from multiple surgeries. I think that my swing speed is about as good as it gets with an overall yardage of 240 and straight with my driver. Any other tips for a differently abled golfer?
Btw, the driver is a Callaway Rogue ST Max 😅
Does the same footwork and sequence apply for standard iron shots? Or only when we're trying to smash one?
Same same, ball position obviously different though.
@@CoachLockey cheers!
i do miss the vlogs and banter with mark, ray and others. i hope you have some planned. TBH i don't need video after video of tips. its why i started watching Marks content.
Plenty of vlog action coming up 👍
@@CoachLockey good stuff.
Issue I have with getting pressure early into lead leg is that I often rotate way too early and hit pulls.
Aim right a little 😏
How do you get the club speed
By pushing in the ground properly at the correct time 👍
😂 at the real time golf tracker hahahaha 😂😂😂 made me 💩
Immediately read that thumbnail as 'Stop being a short Hitler' and thought that the algorithm had gone berserk!
Correction not all people have the bottom of their swing on their left foot my right arm after shoulder surgery extends sooner so my ball position is in the center of my stance.
Cool 👌 do what works.
Thank you later Coach!!!😊
If I swing at 100 swing speed what shud my distance be if I'm hitting sweetvspot in driver head?
Out of about 30 hits I hit 1 over 260 but I don't know what I did differently lol
All carrying around 240
240-250 yards 👍
@@CoachLockey so I'm doin something right haha
Probably putting too much spin on the ball. A launch monitor will tell you where you can gain...the how is for a coach!
Definition of slower swing speed? LPGA are typically similar to top male club amateurs - time to switch off the ego lol!
That’s all well and good for the feminist movement, but in reality they’re generally 10-15mph slower than male golfers…
Ball position is very important, I stand too close to the ball…… after I hit it . ☹️
Learing how to play a little of a stronger grip can work too..
Okl
Changed shaft and picked up 15yrds.
Did you get fitted for new shaft? How is new shaft different from original one…(more flex…lower kick point..etc?)
@daveparsons7756 did my own research. Was fitted originally 3 yrs ago when off 23hc ( now off 11hc) xstiff 70gm
I tried 3 different 60gm shafts and monitored my ball flight. Ended up with rdx smoke stiff flex 60gm shaft. It is easier to square the club face and therefore my fade reduces from 15 yards to around 5yrds. Also being lighter allows me to generate more club head speed
I find it dastardly uncomfortable when my ball is up by my armpit or down by my heel!
My life will be complete if I hear a commentator say, "oh boy Rory gave that drive a good tonk" 😂
Chances are, a golfer needs to move the golf ball farther back in the stance rather than forward to hit the ball farther with a Driver. What matters is how long a golfer can maintain the angle created between their hands/wrists and the golf club. Most golfers cannot keep that angle past center of stance before the club is released through the impact zone. Move the ball forward in the stance would cause a weak hit because the clubhead is now moving slower. It is also much harder to square the club face at impact with the ball way forward in the stance.
Very true. I always hit my driver with my ball in the middle and it is better for me.
@@tejanochris I was carefully studying Justin Thomas' driver swing and discovered that he tees the ball lower than I was expecting and his bottoming out of his driver club head on the downswing was at the center of his stance through a point inside his left heel. At the moment of impact his club head is traveling flush to the ground. For him to make contact with the ball tee'd inside his left toe, he would have to tee the ball extremely high. Ridiculously high like you see the long drive champions doing in competition. Justin Thomas is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 150-160 pounds. He is one of the PGA tour longest drivers with drives well over 300 yards. Freezing his club head with the driver on the downswing, I discovered that his driver shaft is quite bowed at a point just right of center of stance. At a point flush with his left foot toe, the driver shaft has already straightened back out and all the energy of his swing has been spent by that point. The fastest point of his swing appears to be inside (right) of his left heel. Justin tees his ball for his driver past center of stance but right of his left heel. Very standard setup. Not anything extreme like you see these long drive competition drivers attempting to perfect with the ball tee'd off the left toe and tee;d very very high.
Need to add ball height as well. Cheers.
Tee height? Done videos on that bruh. Go check them out 👌👌
@@CoachLockey Didn’t mean to say that you should do a tee height video, just thought that tee height should be included in hitting longer tee shots. Cheers
There is an easier way to hit longer drives. Use a quality two piece golf ball. Tee it up higher and swing smoothly. This is the key. As soon as you hit the ball, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. By the time the ball lands you should have added 20+ yards. Works every time.
Hit off the ladies tee
Longest I’ve ever driven the ball was about 290 yards. I feel like I could easily break 300 with these tips!
Go get it 👌
You give a beginner these tips and I suspect they'd still be short. Everyone's all ball forward, tee it high etc. Doesn't do jack. Strength, mass and swing speed + sweet spot. That'll do it. Unfortunately I have none of them.
Food for thought: unless you can drive the green, every single par 4 and 5 tee shot is a lay-up. Why are you trying to murder a lay-up shot?
Because statistics continue to show that the closer to the green, the better the results (even on layups).
Where's your lesson bay?
Honiton GC, Devon 👍
heel... not.. heal
Drive for show, putt for doe. Why does the average golfer feel that they must hit this club a mile and then miss hit their second shot or worse, three putt? The putter is used on every hole, is your driver? Spend your money on golf lessons and practice your putting.
Because data shows that putting isn’t for doe bruh
@@CoachLockey tell that to dave barr who was #1 greens in regulation but 140th in money lol. sometime in the late 80's or early 90's 🤣
Ehhh, because it's good fun to hit the ball far?
And yet the next channel tells you the opposite
if amateurs had a swing like yours...they wouldn't be a short hitter. Power comes from a fast arm swing...not from body turn.
Come on man it's not a trick to have your ball position inside your left foot, it's standard for over 100 yrs. Enough with the click bait titles. WACK.
You put your ball position up by your left foot with all shots over 100 yards? Haha lovely 👌😂
