  • Whether it’s leaving early to collect the kids from school or taking time off in the school holidays, research by a new campaign called ‘Parenting Out Loud’ has found that 1 in 3 working dads don’t feel comfortable talking to their employer about family commitments. So, do dads need to be louder about their parenting at work? And how do our panel share parenting duties and commitments with their partner?

Some dads are extremely lazy when it comes to parenting, their wives are basically single mothers! These are also the dads who say they are “babysitting” when asked to look after their own child.

As a guy and a non-parent, I'd say hats off to the new-age Dads who really get stuck in and are committed in being more dutiful with the domestics that comes with raising children.

We were “lucky” with my oldest. We are in America and my husband was military. They worked it out so he had two weeks off with us after the birth. Two weeks really isn’t a lot but compared to what other men get I was pleased. On the flip side when our youngest was born my husband was no longer in the military. I don’t know if it was his job in general, or the fact that we adopted a newborn, either way he had no time off at all.
