- Sadly, last year national treasure and friend of the show Paul O’Grady passed away and today his widower Andre Portasio joins us for an exclusive interview just over a year since that fateful day. Andre will be telling us how overwhelmed he was by the words of condolences and support sent to him, the special ways he’s paid tribute to Paul and how he even recently ‘took Paul’ on the trip of a lifetime!

What a lovely person Andre is no wonder Paul fell in love with him. I lost my partner literally a year ago and what Andre said resonated so much with me. Its really hard after someone you love passes. Paul would be proud of Andre and how he's helping to keep Paul's legacy going.

Paul used to cheer me up at 5pm when I came home from work, and The Paul O'Grady Show would start on Channel 4. Always something to look forward to, after a day in the office and when that show ended I missed it a lot. Loved Paul, and will always miss him on TV and radio.

Paul often spoke of his mortality in a matter of fact way. He referred to his dicky ticker often saying he could go at any moment. He didn’t seem sentimental and I also agree, he didn’t realise how much he was loved. Massive loss to a lot of us.
