  • How to install an X21 from NWT Cycletronic! This product guide cover the install of the new motorcycle electronics controller offered on the NWT website. This unit operates all of your necessary components for your vintage motorcycle like horn, kill switch, headlight, taillight, turn signals, dummy lights, gauge backlight and starter solenoid control in a modern compact package.
    This video focuses on the X21 Value "S" variant but the installation will be nearly identical for the "M" and the "P" versions. As mentioned in the video you can and should review the install guide provided by NWT Cycletronic as they took great care to make it clear and easy to follow. That install guide is here:
    nwtcycletronic...
    The X21 is designed and manufactured in house by NWT Cycletronic who has been continually evolving this product. It is not a 100% new item but rather the latest evolution of an already great product. The old systems were called Morty, Morty, and Tricky and have been developed over the last 6 years. For an old bike with a hacked up electrical system, or a rats nest of wires, this thing is a lot of reassurance. So that one could rip out all that old wiring completely, and put in all new wires, and not have to try and rescue the old wiring. The only difference I'd do is to use aircraft wiring. Superior insulation and inside the wire every strand is tinned. So it doesn't corrode under the insulation, which I have seen with bare copper wire when I stripped it back. Tefzel is the latest type. And is showing up as race spec wire. The older teflon wire is still out there and a lot cheaper.

    • @BrickHouseBuilds
      @BrickHouseBuilds  2 года назад

      Agreed. For wire I used my cheap stuff here as I usually use a high quality TXL that I love. I love all the nerdy wiring stuff!

    What does the sense wire for the rectifier do? Does it just need a switched power source or does the X21 use it as a reference for a running engine?

    • @BrickHouseBuilds
      @BrickHouseBuilds  2 года назад

      The sensing wire "senses" the current draw or power consumption on the system and tell the reg/rec how much power to throw at the battery or how much to shunt. Think of it like a speedometer in relation to your foot. A tach input would be needed to see if an engine was running for the X21.
