You end up solving the problem, however the system drive is a mSata Card (old and slow. M2 SATA and NVME are Faster but that board doesn't seem to hold) and that is holding the Batocera system (Linux+Emulation Station), and the SATA mechanical disk is for ROMs storage. This way you could upgrade Batocera on the future and not mess with the ROMs. The new versions will pickup the ROMs and gamelists and move on. On your case you had to Skip the mSATA Card since BIOS was not picking up. Probably the Card it's damaged. Drop the Card and install Batocera on a flash drive and select the boot order on BIOS to start on first place from USB. And then inside Batocera Change the roms storage to external and it Will Pickup the SATA HDD and build the gamelist
This one definitely had me interested in buying... until you tried to turn it on. Damn! I feel like we're getting closer and closer to some really amazing emulation at a proper price, but not just yet. Great video as always, friend!
Did some digging and based on the model number under the ram chip that motherboard is from an old industrial embedded system. I thought for sure it was a workstation PC but I guess not. They go for $100-250 used so 80 euros isn't technically a ripoff, but you could still get a newer and more powerful workstation PC for about $60. Which is my main issue with mini PCs sold as 'retro consoles'.
Celeron processors are only good for the bin, they have limited cache and not to mention lower clock speeds, only usefull for very basic tasks, this is just my opinion 😊 good review thanks
U could take a celeron in the 90s clip 2 pins off the processor's and have them smoke the pentium at the time just when you did it you were lighting the fuse of the chips demise. The last one i did that way got a whole 7 months out of it lol.
Dear Wicked. I love your channel alot. I watch every video and they are all well done. I would love if you had a second channel that showed cheaper systems that worked WELL. Sometimes I find myself NOT watching a video of yours because I already know NOT to buy the item becuase its on you channel. Just a thought.
I don't know what the amp output is for the HDD connector on the mobo, but usually a (mechanical) HDD needs an external power supply (12v 3A - ish) when connected only to a SATA connector. You could try if the HDD works with a SATA to USB connector + external 12v power supply. This setup works only for a SATA SSD drive I think... (since they need less power)
Better get yourself an old office PC and convert into a console with Batocera for the same amount of money. I get the appeal that people don't want to spend time configuring and setting up roms but in this case it is better. I hope the people refurbishing these old PCs get the memo and improve. So you want to tell me that this system more or less performs similarly to an RG35XXH which is cheaper and a handheld.
I have a batocera setup on a micro dell optiplex and it handles PS2 pretty well. the only real problem i have is with MAME. the emulation either loads or it doesnt. not sure if its the roms i downloaded or the configuration. a lot of the roms i see you test out, dont work on my setup. its frustrating to see it play a gamecube, xbox or ps2 game, but struggle with a 8 or 16 bit MAME rom
Can you set up batocera on a hdd for me? Ps2 and stuff for sure Xbox and Xbox 360? Will buy the stuff and pay to have it done. Kinda want to have a duel boot pc for this but I’m going to get a mini pc with some power to run it
@@budgetking2591 hold up, bro. He MIGHT be onto something. I dont know where he's getting chromeboxes for $12 (perhaps stolen?), and there are near 50 different models from several brands. Nah KI has been on these almost the entire time. Mostly N64 depending on which box you buy. The majority of the arcade style boxes have had KI arcade version on them. He just doesn’t play the game enough for you to see it.
I think these boards have been recycled from old "media server" type PCs, I have a similar sized one from an old Asus SFF PC that I think has an old AMD A4 CPU directly soldered to the motherboard. I don't think that $80 is too bad a price to pay for someone that needs a box that is set up and ready to go with everything you need, bearing in mind that the cheapest Raspberry Pi 5 bare board will cost about the same anyway - and that's before cooling, case, power supply, hard disk, SSD and controllers. With that said, if you need a box that is already ready to go, then you're probably not the kind of PC tech who can diagnose initial boot up problems because components have moved in transit. With that said, I don't need all of that "ancillary stuff" due to building PCs constantly and I too would go pick up a more powerful 3rd or 4th generation Core i5 or i7 SFF PC that will come with at least 4GB RAM on "our favourite auction site" for $30-$40 anyway. So, yes, for us experienced PC builders, there's "nothing to see here".
@@WickedGamerCollector RMA for sure, when you reset the CMOS by pulling the battery you messed up the boot order. I know things led you to that, but the image is probably on the M.2, and in a normal boot it was going to finish populating to the SATA drive. All fubared now.
