    I always love theese 80s-early 90s concert videos of Metallica. One of the reasons being Jason,the nicest and most genuine of the bunch. I think THE one guy that turns the most into this alter ego up on that stage,with intense eyes and facial expressions,one of the first i noticed do the windmill to such great extent as he did. He shaved the lower part of his head,to make the hair flip around easier too,wich always gave him such a badass look.
    I still miss him today,eventhough i Love Robert "The Beast" Trujillo alot too,Jason was just all out passion up on that stage,he was one of the Metallica fans that became a part of the band,and he never forgot it,he always connected the most and best with the fans from the stage or offstage. And his vocals were just gritty,powerful and intimidating. He brought soo much extra on bass to Metallica.
    I think my one favourite concert with Metallica is anything involving San Diego in 1992,but especially Wherever I May Roam from that same concert. My number 1 song with them,because of the strong Oriental vibes that Kirk Hammet brings in the very beginning,accompanied by Lars on the drums. I dont think i have heard any Heavy Metal band make me think of a specific culture,from just guitar and drum play. Makes me want to just close my eyes and take it all in,in that intro of the song. Absolutely beautiful!
    Rob has gotten better at his backing vocals,he seems to have the power in his voice,but i notice that he is very "on and off" the actual mic,and one of the things that many vocalists train alot on,is where to stand in front of the mic. So i think his "weakness" is that he is not technically great in front of the mic lol. He has improved abit since he first joined though!

    I believe this was on the 1989 tour for 'And justice for all'... The members of Metallica were in their 20's when this performance was filmed. This was the era when Metallica was truly untouchable in concert... In later years (1996 and onwards...), Metallica seemed to lose their ferocity in concert... That is why these live versions are the best for 'Creeping death'... it was written and released in 1984 for Metallica's 2nd album 'Ride the Lightning' when bassist Cliff Burton was alive... Jason Newsted (bass) joined in 1986 and quit in 2001.
    Robert Trujillo is a great bass player (listen to his records w/ Suicidal Tendencies... Ozzy Osbourne... Jerry Cantrell...) but he's not used by Metallica to his talent because of their sound... Newsted was much better for Metallica because his style and energy were perfect for their music, but his talent was not used to potential either...

But yeah definitely miss that from Jason!

    Theyre about 26 yo here in 1989. Lars annd James started Metallica when they were 18 yo, 1989 version was more sophisticated but the raw Metallica versions go back to 1985-86 with Cliff. Its a very primal James Hetfield

    If you’ve been to a recent show, maybe pick one of the live videos from the current tour and compare it to your experience.
    As for Rob, he’s never been a vocalist like Jason was. He’s a bit more like Kirk where he provides some backing texture at times, maybe taking on a bit more on the current tour, but Jason would outright sing lead from time to time.

  • @80HD8
    @80HD8 Год назад

    It was hard to hear both of them clearly. I think the Moscow one has more clear vocals. I haven't seen them live, so I don't know what they sound like personally. With a video, it could be the sound system, it could be the engineer, it could be a bad recording. Their albums sound fine, so it's not like they purposely mix the vocals at a lower volume, so I'm not really sure what the issues are with the live shows. Anyway, great reaction. It's always nice to meet someone who likes metal. And I'm jealous you've seen them live and I haven't.

Does anyone here even realize what the song Creeping Death is about?in the book of Exodus,God sent death to Egypt to kill all the first born after Pharoah refused to release the Israelites,but,if lambs blood was painted above the door of a person's house,death would pass,and everyone inside would be spared,but the Egyptians didnt believe in the God of Israel and failed to use lambs blood,instead relyed on thier pagan Gods which did no good,but anyway,Metallica got the inspiration for the song,while watching the Ten Commandments movie,after Cliff said,wow that looks like Creeping Death! So that's what its about.
