Ocram (at least to me) was already the 4th mechanical boss considering he also drops his own unique soul type and mechanical stuff. He is also already based on Brain of Cthulhu (or at least looks like he is). He was removed because he didn't feel like a final boss, obviously, and that's why we got Moon Lord in the next major update. A much better and a more fleshed out final boss to the game. In the lore, this is where it gets more speculative, but it could be assumed that Ocram was never finished and that's why he looks so different to the other mechanical bosses.
A funny thing is how the mechanical brain of Cthulhu (c.p.u./Cthulhu Processing Unit ) is supposed to be the final part to resurrect the moon lord But without the cultists knowledge moon lord kinda regenerated all his missing parts except his legs and lower spine so both the twins, skeleton prime, and half the destroyer are useless.

I think the most neat thing about terraria lore is the fact that the wall of flesh is the guardian preventing the world evils from getting super powerful. You killing the wall of flesh essentially makes you the antagonist.
You can just imagine an NPC. NPC "No you bellend, the Wall of Flesh was protecting us from Cthulu... Now he's coming back" PC "So you did me to kill Cthulu then?" NPC "Yes...No... Wait you can do that?"
I mean, our whole mission is to stop the cults from spawning moon lord, and killing hım when they does nevertheless. We need to get stronger for it, and to get stronger, well, you need to *awaken* and fight stronger enemies. So we really are the protagainist, not the Best one though.
Fun fact : Moonlord's injuries is actually that bad it makes his body parts seperated. Each becomes those pre hardmode bosses like Eye of Cthulhu, Skeleton, Brain of cthulhu , Eater of world. And cultists is trying to heal moonlord with new body parts like The twins, the destroyer and skeleton prime. But all of those got destroyed by you and turns out moonlord already fully healed.
Terraria lore: dryads attempt to defeat the Cthulhu, and fail, a group of people decided to bring him back by building him And then a random dude wakes up and chooses violence
If you think about it, the character you play as was originally the antagonist. They killed the wall of flesh releasing all of the evil into the world, but then killed Moonlord at the end of the game which got rid of all the evil, turning them from The Villain, into The Hero.
I hope one day they make a mech boss for the brain. They could make it so that it's incomplete and have bizarre erratic movements that makes it more dangerous.
Corruption is all the world’s evil manifested, Crimson is a living hive-mind, Hallow is the world’s way of defending itself against the spread of anything impure (but it’s a bit overzealous)

I would say the dryads more or less succeeded than they failed. They managed to split Cthulhu into its different parts such as its brain and eyes and force it to retreat, albeit leaving only one dryad left

I thought it was the steampunker who made the mechanical bosses, not the mechanic. It makes sense that either one could've made them, and it makes more sense that the mechanic did since she was captured and thrown into the du geon after she made the mech bosses.
I hope they make corrupted boss stronger by basing on how deep the corrupt roots is and crimson bosses by numbers of mobs in the field and also hallow bosses by the number they have been defeated to make terraria more fun
Oh finally someone knows. Here’s a little extra, the old man was cursed by the cultists to help protect them as they prepare to reincarnate Cthulhu. Planterra is just doing their own thing, but golem was made to protect the lizards from anything that could harm them.

In the ‘For the Worthy’ seed you can craft Ocram’s Razor. Which is an amalgam of the three mechanical bosses. It can fit as the fourth one.
