He would have been a great dramatic actor as well. You see Forte, Armisen, Hader, Odenkirk, etc. display this as I think these comedians are also some of the best actors. Gone way too soon RIP Phil..
It's odd because all three of those main characters are unlikable. The ex-con who talks about sex rather than doing it, and seems to have a medical fetish, the peeping Tom who won't stop,, and the prostitute who puts in minimal effort and phones in her lines in a monotone.
It's amazing how this is 1987 and Kevin Nealon besides the slight change of hair color and maybe a few facial wrinkles, looks practically the same in 2023😳
All I have to say is Phil Hartman played the character of one really patient John. I mean how many times does he threaten to kill the peeper only to get kicked out without getting anything for his money? 🤷♂
This would have been way better if it turned out the peeping tom was working with the hooker to trick johns into not going through with it and running out the clock.
These late 80s seasons had a lot of great atmospheric sketches. Also, because the cast was so small back then, it felt much more intimate. Today, sketches are way too overblown and corny.
Yes it’s funny. But the unpredictable wiles of Hartman off-balance everything. The audience is barely laughing during the whole sketch. He was a genius.
The way Kevin Nealon was pulled in through the window upside down was an impressive feat.

Jan too. 😢
One of my favorite characters. He did was the voice of gigi from kiki's delivery sirius❤
The Peeking Tom was obviously the 1st Customer..Hilarious
😅
5:12 I love how Jan Hooks starts to crack up and smile as Phil Hartman is doing his seductive towel dance for her.
😂
RIP Jan and Phil
RIP this sketch...lamest ever written, and even the great talents of Phil, Jan, Kevin and John couldn't save it.
Hartman and Hooks, the perfect SNL couple. RIP
They'll get their hooks in your hart man...😅
Two of the best cast members ever
Phil and Jan were so good together on SNL.❤ RIP
The best!!
And Kevin Nealon got to date Jan. Lucky guy.
Hartman was a comedy genius. This sketch shows it.
Putrid.
This is my first time seeing this, I’m still laughing!!! Phil was so incredibly funny!!!!!😂😂😂
It's sort of an odd sketch but Phil Hartman is so good. He really was a great actor who was brilliant at comedy.
It's odd because all three of those main characters are unlikable. The ex-con who talks about sex rather than doing it, and seems to have a medical fetish, the peeping Tom who won't stop,, and the prostitute who puts in minimal effort and phones in her lines in a monotone.
R.I.P Both of them Jan Hooks and Phil Hartman
The hostage snl is almost exactly the same skit. It’s on RUclips too. Both crack me up.
Talk about Zero Tolerance! The guy came back 4 times
It's amazing how this is 1987 and Kevin Nealon besides the slight change of hair color and maybe a few facial wrinkles, looks practically the same in 2023😳
I would have loved just to to talk to Jan Hooks
I was frustrated by how many chances Phil was giving Nealon's character. For someone just got out of prison, he sure has the patience of a saint.
That's what made the sketch funny.
I love how I never saw some of these Phil Hartman my favorite comedian guy rip I even get to laugh again 30+ years later
Phil Hartman = EPIC :D
Please don't tease me stop you're driving me wild😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The crowd silence is deafening.
This is beautiful
Phil Hartman was not only a great comedian, he was a great talent. Miss him.
Interesting, they did the same thing in another skit called The Hostage.
All I have to say is Phil Hartman played the character of one really patient John. I mean how many times does he threaten to kill the peeper only to get kicked out without getting anything for his money? 🤷♂
Mace was unhinged! A ticking time bomb!! Don't make him mad!!!
This would have been way better if it turned out the peeping tom was working with the hooker to trick johns into not going through with it and running out the clock.
Ok, that's exactly where I thought this was going. Why is it you saw the comedy in that scenario but professional writers couldn't?
This almost feels like a psychological horror movie at first

omg good call! The smaller cast is much better agreed @@spm_hcmc
Speaking of packages I got a special delivery for you😂😂😂😂😂
Fly on the Wall.
Ready to make up for some lost time😂😂😂😂
Now where were where are my pajamas again😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
A funnier ending would have been if she was working with the peeping tom just to waste the time so she could get the money but not do anything.
Close the window and blind 😂
Oh please don't take it all off😂😂😂
Kevin and Jan were together at the time. I think Kevin purposely sabotaged Phil’s chances.
You got a lot of man here baby😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank God my hero😂😂😂😂
I think the joke is that she didn't do the service on those guys. Lol
3:36 JAN.....PRICELSS. 5:10 Hercules u got 5....minuites.....
I hope you're ready to get it😂😂😂
But...why the stethoscope? And no end on it? And the glove? I have SO many questions. lol
You're damn right I'm right
No cue cards..
❤😂 I love 💕 Horacio he and Jimmy
I was looking for the score of the game😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
SNL had issues that season.
Wow now we know where Biff impression comes from
Wouldve liked to continue seeing the Jon Lovitz version lol
Especially since Jon Lovitz played a creepy peeping tom in the Adam Sandler movie 'Little Nicky'
You better get out of here before I feel better😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is definitely a 12:50 sketch
The weird sort of mid-period SNL sketch that isn’t quite comedy, isn’t quite drama either.
Also called 'a bad sketch.'
This made me highly uneasy
It should have been just Phil peeping at the end.
Severely unfunny.
Troy mcclure in the warmest night in the motel :v
Not funny. Nerve-wracking.
what's that ex-con doing with a firearm?
No cue cards..just acting. Times have changed…
Not long enough.
Phil Hartman was great
This cannot be happening
Meh.
He sounds like plankton foreal
Not funny.
Phil Hartman was surprisingly burly
What was the point?
Back when SNL was funny and non political.
What a great cast...SNL used to be funny.
huh ???
By far. Ever. This has to be the absolutely worst SNL skit EVER. It's gruesomely horrid.
I looked at the length shortly in.
🍀
A rare bad skit with this group.
❤ 😇🎯 "PHIL HARTMANN FAN! "
Yes it’s funny. But the unpredictable wiles of Hartman off-balance everything. The audience is barely laughing during the whole sketch. He was a genius.
🥱
Why doesnt he close the blinds?
I love all of these cast members but this skit was really terrible 😔
Go back and watch a 1st season sketch. Even the original cast had duds. Lots of em. They cant all be winners. At least Phil commits.
Didn't think Phil Hartman ever made a bad SNL clip... I was dead wrong. That was cringe-terrible. How did that get on the air?
What a lame skit
10nth
RIP this sketch...lamest ever written, and even the great talents of Phil, Jan, Kevin and John couldn't save it.
Weak
Unfunny.
I dont remember him ever doing interviews. So no real record of his true personality.
