I am actually so happy you made this video. Although I would say Krieg is the most fun vault hunter to play with in BL2, Maya is by far my most played character. This guide was done really, really well but I do have some small points to mention.
1. Unless you are using blight phoenix or grenades damage to heal, you DO NOT need to max out Life tap. 2 Points is all you really need as your guns do so much damage in OP10. I know you mentioned that you max it for blight phoenix but I think its important to say you do not need to max it out.
2.If you are farming for a breakneck banshee com, farm it around Lvl 50. You will still get the +6 on fleet and the health you lose from the com wont be that much.
3.For the Haderax recompense kill you can use an otto idol relic to keep you alive after the kill. You can get it from the scarlet DLC but I don't remember what side mission you get it from.
Bonus Tip: If you are doing a sledges shotgun build, you want to spec into minds eye and use a legendary siren com. People might use the cat com for +5 on reaper and minds eye, but the siren com can add more gun damage over all then having 10/5 on reaper. Plus it gives you really good cooldown rate which will help with cycling your phaselocks way better and getting the easy one shots.

I appreciate the kind words, however, I disagree with your Life tap assessment and here's why. YES your guns should get you to full health or above health gate decently quickly... unless of course you were health stacking in which case you would definitely want it maxed out. You can easily get over 8,000,000 health and with 2 points youll receive 2.4% lifesteal, a gun like the Amigo Sincero does just under 8 million damage meaning that without buffs from reaper or the bee, it will only heal 190,000 per shot which is far less than your 8 million hp. Secondly, even without health stacking, maxing it out will help Converge, Helios, Cloud Kill, Ruin, and just elemental DOTS to get you back to full hp since the damage of those skills isn't enough by itself. I think of it similarly to Thrill of the Kill on Krieg. Yes for most of the gear you use, your health *should* shoot back up to full, but if you kill an enemy with a worse weapon or a DOT you get almost nothing back unless you max it.

@@mrtx01 but the allocation of points is way more important to me. If I put 5/5 in life tap instead of 2/5, I would sacrifice points in a lot of my key utility skills. Whether that is suspension, inertia, or Kinetic reflection those skills will allow me to stay up without even needed to use life tap. The way I use life is by have a high pellet count fast fire rate weapon at all times just to get healing from it. So even if I use the Amigo Sincero, I can switch to that high pellet weapon and get fantastic heals. I will agree though, if you were doing a health stack build I would put more. Not a lot of people run that setup on maya.
If you maxxed Subsequences you don't need Life Tap at all. Sweet Release is enough for healing, you 3-4 times of Sweet Release per Phaselock with Subsequence
@@Over_9OOO You dont even need subsequence even. If you max out quicken, have a bone com and a legendary siren you can mimic the effect of subsequence with how fast you get phaselock back. What makes it better is you can chose where it goes so you phase lock the right targets
@@St4rkiller04 I like subsequence more, you can slag everything with 3x ruin 3x converge per phaselock and you don't miss any wreck/change reaction time really you don't have to "shoot to another target" not to waste phaselock time ;) subsequence more winning

1life players often dodge sweet release because it has a weird tendancy to aggro A LOT of enemies with the transfusion orbs, other than that its really good for healing
Thoughtlock's added cooldown time is in fact a lie, good job, but thoughtlock does have some goofy stuff, for example you can't proc cloudkill on enemies that are thought locked and kinetic reflection wont richocet towards enemies that are thoughtlocked, just a few things to keep in mind
iirc bee damage is also weird on thoughlocked enemies? it either doesnt add the bee damage or the bee sound just doesnt get added I forget.

Pleasantly surprised with the skill breakdown. Maya is my favorite character, so I have a silly amount of knowledge of her workings. So, a few notes.
Flicker is multiplicative, which is worse than if it were additive. 5/5 Flicker gives 30%, so if it were additive on top of let's say a 50%-ish slag sniper, it would be 80%. But Flicker is multiplicative, so said chance would actually be around 65%. Still a decent boost, but it obviously helps more the higher your base chance is. A Maliwan pistol going from 26% to ~34% is nice, but not game-changing.
Helios can be stacked to effictiveness with the help of a Binder COM, just like Backdraft can with a Banshee. A bit harder to make use of, as there is no real setup like there is with Slow Hand and Transformer and Converge and whatnot, but it's there.
I'm not personally big on Restoration, just because skill points are so valuable and 15% for 5 feels wasteful. I'm not running a Nurse solo. Health stacking is useful, especially when you can give others healing based off your health like you talked about through Sweet Release and Elated. It is just limited use for solo, and I feel points are better spent elsewhere. I still often run a vitality relic, and even more an adaptive shield, because health is so valuable at all stages. Unless you're Zer0.
Sustenance is a godsend for DOTs, it can hold up against them since it scales with how low your health is. It won't do wonders by itself, it's a little convenience, but I like it better than Restoration or Recompense for ease of life.
Life Tap is so underrated. It's a Moxxi effect as a kill skill. But that being said, as I only put the one point in Blight Phoenix for melee enemies, and don't have any other passive damage sources, only a couple points in Life Tap are really worth it. All my damage is either shooting or Cloud Kill, neither of which need much percentage to be effective healing.
Scorn. On-demand room-wide slag. You can't argue against the efficacy.
I agree with left tree being hard to justify going down early. Cataclysm is damage, Harmony is tanking/support, Motion is utility. Ward and Inertia are great for tanking, Inertia and Wreck are great for DPS, but in general it holds. Wreck, Inertia, Converge are all so nice to have, and Suspension just lets her other buffs shine, especially with a Binder COM.
Quicken is odd. 30% isn't great, especially as Phaselock has a short cooldown anyway, but it is so important for how all of her skills work to have up, so having that little extra boost isn't the worst thing. Either cooldown or duration goes a long way with Maya.
And then Thoughtlock. One skill puts her on the same level as Axton for aggro control, plus she has Scorn, Converge, Cloud Kill, Blight Phoenix, Chain Reaction, so many ways of dominating a zone. She is so absurdly fit to controlling a battlefield. Thoughtlock, with its added duration, helps even more to keep her buffs up, even more with a Binder COM. Having another target for the enemies is great. Throwing a Scorn in and blitzing through your full Thoughtlock duration with Wreck, Chain Reaction, and Elated all running is a dream. Thoughtlock is absurdly good, and highly underrated. All three of Maya's capstones are well worth using.
Basically, all of this to say I love Maya's kit. Incredibly versatile, she is the best crowd control, second best sniper, great tank, just all-around fun to use. She doesn't need Moxxi, she doesn't need slag weapons, she excels with high pellet count and high fire rate, even better if you can get both. So much of her is built around her action skill, which I just love. I probably went overboard with this whole explanation, but hey. We all have our vices. Thanks for the vid!
Edit: And very happy with the gear breakdown, too. Definitely will be giving the Seraphim a try, I love underused weapons. Bee is a popular pick, but people get shredded because they spec for damage, like you talked about. Character builds work best when they work in harmony; going all-in on damage means you can't take a hit, focusing on tanking means your damage is lacking. Find a balance that works, don't put your eggs in one place. Min-maxing can work, especially for raid bosses where you need the damage, but having a balanced build makes for a better and more fleshed-out experience. That goes for a lot of games. That's all!
TL,DR: Maya is great, with general buffs, kill skills, and buffs while her Phaselock is up, all of which together make her incredibly versatile. Build smart, play to your strengths, cover your bases, and you'll do just fine.
Good to know that Flicker is even worse than I thought. But I want you to imagine a world where the Helios explosion procced AFTER ruin slagged them. It would still suck but be slightly better.
I wasn't even thinking about the Sustenance DOT interaction but it's definitely true, especially when health stacking so you're regening a few hundred thousand health per second. I really like it for NVHM since there's so little healing at that point in the game usually.
I like maxing life tap for Ruin, Helios, Kinetic Reflection, etc. All of the low damage skills but at the same time I could just shoot the enemy a few times and get the health back way faster so 🤷♂
I feel like a lot of people assume that Thoughtlock doesn't work with other skills or just generally won't be useful. I used to be one of those people. It doesn't help that the description claims to make the cooldown longer so you would theoretically get punished for picking it (assuming it actually did that which it doesn't). But thanks to the duration buff, I get almost 15 seconds of my 7 pimpernel shots launching to all other targets in the area from chain reaction, along with crazy damage and firerate from wreck.
Maya is a really well designed character and luckily only has like 3 legitimately bad skills, and mostly just in UVHM/The OP levels. Compare that to some characters *cough* gaige *cough* and it's no contest for the amount of builds and skills to use. Plus the wide amount of useful skills means more useful items to use. Shield, health, damage, utility, movement speed, reload speed, mag size, and more allows for any build to work!

Playing Maya for 1 life’s had me going down the left tree to start out and then changing to cloud kill at level 21 with 5 points still in ward. Warder class mods are really strong for that play style as cloudkill does enough damage to carry regardless. Once I get closer to uvhm I tend to change to trickster or binder though
@@graemeclark6680 Oh yeah, early game I often run Warders, put a value point to get the buff because the skill is so solid. Maybe even go down to Converge if I'm feeling spicy, but my love for Foresight and Wreck are too strong. Ward is incredible value all the time, except for roid builds obviously. Maya has a bunch of really nice and understated, simple but effective skills.
@@abiam9X yeah the synergy with turtle shields makes it so convenient too since it’s not difficult to farm for a decent turtle whilst leveling
@@graemeclark6680 ESPECIALLY with turtles. Amps and adaptives are great with her too - Ward and Inertia keep them active, make them really shine. If a piece of kit is viable, then there's a great chance Maya can make it work. She can sharpshoot with Phaselock and Mind's Eye and Wreck, she can tank with Ward and Inertia and Kinetic Reflection, she can run AoE, with Converge and Chain Reaction and Scorn and Ruin. Melee is the only thing she can't really do, but I don't consider that a detriment really. Even melee she can kind of manage; she doesn't have the output of Zer0 or Krieg or Sal, but she is survivable through Harmony. She's just so damn versatile.
Some notes from a long time player who plays almost everyone but mains Maya. I'll edit this with more notes as I go -
The way you would want flicker to work is not for it to be additive or multiplicative but just for it to be addition, adding a flat 30% status chance, but this is not the case. Flicker is an additive boost, which means that by itself, the skill calculates your status chance by going base chance*flicker, so for an example of a gun with 30% slag chance and 5/5 flicker it would be 30*1.3=39. What makes this different from a multiplicative boost is that your multipliers are added together, so with say 20% chance from BAR you get 30*(1.3+.2)=45%, whereas a hypothetical multiplicative 20% status chance would be 30*1.3*1.2=46.8% slag. Some people think that flicker boosts scorn slag but this has never been confirmed, but overall, flicker is among helios, backdraft and blight pheonix as one of her worst skills at endgame and you have to pick one to get to ruin and personally I usually take flicker, but its preference.
Your assessment of immolate is definitely accurate, but I don't think your commentary on ffyl skills as a whole necessarily is. The fact is things happen and everyone goes down so it's fine to plan around ffyl at least a little bit in your build, the problem is that for most characters, their ffyl skills just aren't impactful enough to get you up. But immolate definitely is, and leans into one of Maya's greatest strengths, she's not forced to use a slag gun, a ffyl launcher, a healing weapon, none of that, so you get to be incredibly versatile with your offense, so for me immolate is a must pick. Part of the reason it hits so hard is that it occupies it's own place in the damage formula, being bonus elemental damage, so it's not just multiplicative, which if you refer to the earlier example with flicker means it multiplies both your base damage and your other gun damage boosts, but because of its special properties it also gets both the slag bonus and the fire on flesh bonus twice.
Chain Reaction is fucking nuts. If you have a bullet that has a split (say, the way the Bekah gives you the second projectile that then becomes even more projectiles or the lyuda forks into three bullets after a set distance) then the ricocheting bullet will get its own split if it travels far enough. There is a lot of cool shit you can do with this
Reaper - I believe what you're referring to when saying certain weapons pop off with reaper is whats called gun splash, which is a special type of splash that is, unlike grenade or rocket splash, boosted by Reaper and Be Like Water (lol). Getting that damage bonus on both instances of damage really makes the guns that benefit hit hard on Maya. Some useful examples are the Sawbar, all Maliwan snipers except the Volcano and Storm, and the Flakker. The slowhand technically is gun splash as well, but since it only does splash damage, I don't count it. Oh also, reaper is another multiplicative boost, meaning as mentioned that it multiplies your base damage and additive gun boosts, but it doesnt have any of immolate's quirks
Blight Phoenix - this skill is bad don't take it. Yes it can sometimes stagger melee enemies but it also detonates barrels near you and imo that just isnt worth the incremental advantages even if maya is good at taking out barrels
Mind's Eye is a weird skill in that the per point damage isn't amazing but she has few enough damage skills that its not something I often skip, however if I have a COM that boosts it I will definitely take that excuse to only put one point in it.
Sweet release is my pick for her best skill to pick first
Restoration is a skill you only really need one point in at end game for pure healing purposes. As for the health, 15% is kind of low but thankfully the nurse boosts it for tank builds
Recompense has a build that makes you literally immortal since the damage gets boosted by slag and you can heal with it while holding a grog but damage resistance makes this not work at OP levels
Life tap is another skill that practically speaking you only *need* like 2-3 points in at end game due to the way damage scales. Still, it never hurts to be safe and put all 5 points in since the shitty fight for sanctuary dlc left us all drowning in skill points but definitely don't go 10/5
Kinetic's best use case is boosting it with a CoM to become immune to bullets. It's a special type of damage reduction that actually does what it says on the card.
The best part of converge is it's a massive AoE stun, on top of everything else it does. Crazy good
Fleet is one of the most overrated skills ngl LOL. It definitely has its uses don't get me wrong, but I often can't fit it, and rough rider banshee Maya is a bit of a meme, the banshee com is really bad and has anti synergy with the RR. Not to mention the RR isn't amazing on Maya due to the quality of her shield skills. Good skill but not the incredible build around some people make it out to be in my opinion. Great to have in the back pocket to speed up certain farms though.
The cooldown penalty for thoughtlock is bugged and doesn't apply. I still think it's slightly worse than just phase locking things though
I find that for uvhm characters, ruin is mandatory even for more supportive Maya builds. What better support is there then giving your teammates slag on an entire group of enemies? Sadly this makes scorn and subsequence/thoughtlock mutually exclusive.
For best grenade on Maya I think the Quasar is one of her best grenade options, it has the highest radius of any singularity grenade and that's powerful with her kit since you can double pull things with converge to assure maximum effectiveness of her AoE
Heart and Bone are some of her best relics alongside the niche but powerful options like Sheriff's or Deputy's badges, but the bone is her absolute best relic imo by a ton. It's a multiplicative damage boost (she admittedly has very few additive boosts to benefit from this lol, just wreck and accelerate as well as legendary siren iirc) and more phaselock.
Rough Rider is once again very overrated on Maya imo, but it's solid with her HP stuff. Blockades and adaptive shields are better in my opinion, and the antagonist is solid too. The Sham and the Bee are of course very good with her too.
In my opinion her best overall class mod is the siren, it still boosts her survival while making up for her weakness of having very few additive boosts to take advantage of all her multiplicative boosts, and it has the utility to boot of cooldown and speed during phaselock
The tattler is probably my favorite smg on her, it's so fun to put on the Cat and life tap and brainlessly run at things while holding down the trigger like you're sal lol
Shout outs to the sawbar for quietly being on of Maya's best guns for crowd clear
The pimpernel is probably Maya's best gun in general other than maybe the top tier smgs like the tattler and sand hawk. Reaper gun splash, extra pellets that synergize with chain reaction since the initial bullet can hit a new target and split a second time, and it's arguably the best sniper in the game overall

I really appreciate the breakdown man, been playing maya for the first time past normal mode and had i not known about the skills that arent so good damage wise id have way more wasted points that could be used to keep my health up or grt more kill skills, the rainbow of elements proccing from the cataclysm skills put so many numbers on screen thst i hadnt even noticed the "damage rank 1-5" not really doing a whole lot for the amount of points i was putting into them, huge help cant wait to melt through tvhm and start farming some great gear 💚💚

a neat little build is getting 11/5 into kinetic reflection makes enemies' bullets heal you so combine with recompense and a antagonist you can go semi-afk/not care about gun mobs

Maya is the first character that gave me a solid reason to install an Unofficial Patch, because of her "Life Tap" skill sound effect that constantly bugged me off, lol.
You should try it with the kill skill glitch, you can get like 30 stacks of lifetap and it gets louder every stack 💀

Actually just started a new maya playthrough after 3 years away from the game, just hit level 47 last night and I went cataclysm through cloud kill, then switched over to motion to get converge, then back to cataclysm to pick up ruin. The combination of cloud kill, converge, and chain reaction is insane in NVHM and TVHM, allows for some major speed leveling as you can easily farm higher areas than you are level wise.
This is perfect, i've just returned to borderlands 2 after 5 years, and i'm torn between Maya, Axton and Gaige. I've been trying to find some guides but every video is so old.
Blight Phoenix also tends to be what downs me often.. Helps to barrel troll oneself pretty easily.. I always stay far away from that one

This is gonna be useful, I've got a challenge run planned for Maya and I've only ever played her in normal mode without spending a single skill point 'cause i didn't know what to do, but i did know to get an SMG and Cat com.
I'm thinking about doing an Axton guide once I'm either finished with the build videos or i know 100% which are his best and worst builds.
I've never tried health stacking and that's why it's one of the build i have planned for Axton along with a slightly different tank build. Tbh health stacking seems good 'cause you may not need to heal as often.

I only actually use one build on Axton, but at least I now know a few different builds that work. Oh crap, I need to think of a team build for him, that's now 24 more builds i have planned.
Singularities are my favourite grenades. Meteor Strike 😂 it's Meteor Shower.
Blood of the Ancients is my personal favourite relic.
I've never used the Rough Rider (excpet on my Krieg who's still at OP1), but I plan on using that for 2 of my builds.
Antagonist is my favourite shield.
I forgot about the Black Hole, I could've used it on my Shock Trooper build.
I have an OP10 Evolution, though i have no idea how I got it 'cause I've still not managed to kill Hyperious on OP10 on my Axton.
I've never used the Sham.
I've never gotten a Blockade, but i already use the Antagonist so...
Damn, not even a perfect Antagonist, or could you simply not be bothered to farm the vendor for hours?
The Seraphim is one my favourite assault rifles, the only bad thing about it imo is the fire exclusivity, however that just means you can't rely on it for everything.
I have 2 Conference Calls on my Axton, I've only used them literally just a couple of times.
I like the Slagga, but the Florentine is my personal favourite.
The Sawbar is so fun!

Original hp is 1.41 million x 4 would be 5.24 million so actually 4.3 million is closer to 3 x original hp.

I like health stacking because you don't need to heal as often but also healing is more effective. A lot of heal skills in this game (like Able for instance) are max health % based so if you have 8x the amount of hp, you heal 8x the amount. Plus using something like a fastball and grog combo shoots your health up 8 million as opposed to 1
I have a Blood of the Ancients on every character for the huge health boost but also the ammo aspect is slept on. Especially for rockets and snipers or assault rifles if you use the Peak Opener.
Rough Rider is my personal favorite in the whole game but the Antagonist is up there too. Yeah I just couldn't be bothered to farm a perfect one but honestly the shield's so good that it'll pretty much always be good.
I feel like it's fairly common for people to believe the beatdown is a more tough area of the game. What truly is the hardest area though 🤔
I do more damage without the Bee too since I can actually stay alive long enough to fight back 🤣

I'm one of those weirdos who skipped BL2 and went right from 1 to 3 lol. I started playing Zero but he just dies so much, then I started playing Maya. I've been struggling with her to solo UVHM so this guide is really going to help.
Hopefully this helps you through UVHM! It feels very tough at first but as you become a better player it starts to become easier than TVHM a lot of the times. Good luck!

I really enjoy anything with a lot of pellets because I love using chain reaction! For that reason I love farming for maggies, pimpernels, conference calls (really any shotgun for that matter), lascauxs and that sort of thing. Also I find sniping on her very fun since it's actually almost as powerful as Zer0 but way easier to hit crits because you can just phaselock the enemies and stun them
In regards to shields, Blockade is also a very solid choice. Very underrated shield.

Thanks for the great video! It was eye opening that you don't actually need to use beehawk to have decent damage and be able to kill enemies. Also I was one of those who used beehawk and thought the game is unfair and everybody insta healthgates me.
The paradox of the BeeHawk. You supposedly "need it for damage" which isn't true, but by using it you lose all survivability causing you to "get one shot by everything" leading to the game feeling needlessly hard regardless of one shotting the enemies. Meanwhile you take off the Bee and realize that the sandhawk still kills most enemies in one burst or less and the bee is TOTAL overkill

Hey! I saw your yt shorts and it made me want to play the game again. If I could make a request, Im having trouble knowing when to go where. As in, what level cap an area scales to, when I should go for X legendary, and probably my biggest problem is knowing when and where to farm XP. I know certain methods, like bad maw, and the digistruct peak pulling ravagers off cliff one I learned about in a recent joltz guy video. I know certain characters have it a bit easier on certain enemies (b0re one shot big enemies and Salvador). What are good XP spots other than those and mutated varkids? Do I only need to XP farm twice a campaign? Is it worth going for level cap areas in normal/tvhm? So many leveling questions 😂 pls good sir, making guides for a 12 year old game, if I could get but one more? I’d even love a yt short going over 3 farm locations (I’d love to say other than varkids, but it’s just to good to leave out for new players).
I almost forgot about the out of bounds infinity training dummy spot but it is slow. AFK but slow.
And I want to say, I appreciate the work and explanations in your videos. They’re great for beginners and returning players alike!

I'm actually really interested in your idea and will try to do a ton of research on all the best places to farm during a run, even in my own runs I often find myself under leveled but not knowing what to farm. That along with best weapons to farm at what levels, where to get good shields and class mods, and what levels areas scale to. Thanks for your recommendation, no promise I'll get it out super soon but I'll add it to the list for sure!
Nice guide. One suggestion - a good leveling guide should have planned respecs.
Also - the bonus from flicker is additive, not addition. It's 30% of the chance on your gun. Not that chance +30%. So 50% would become 65%.
Demonite has a great video on damage reduction. 10 points in kinetic reflection makes it so bullets don't damage your health, while 11 points makes bullet damage heal you.

Helios and backdraft I always put 1 point each in and then put 3 in flicker. The damage is basically nothing but if you are op 10 and holding the grog it’s enough to heal you completely with just one point in each
Blight pheonix is great for putting 1 point in this for this the same reason as well the main reason to stop melee attackers like he said in the vid

The reason some damage skills seem weirdly strong is because of where the bonus is included in BL2’s damage formula.
The thing is unexpectedly complex, and it’s the reason we have “type A” and “type B” crit bonuses.

4:18 I'm pretty sure they didnt actually fix it, believe the only reason it doesnt work anymore is due to hyperious being bugged to have double hp, love the vid btw
well they sorta fixed it, there are still ways to immolate kill him bu you used to be able to get your health to 0 with a turtle shield and it would classify you as being downed which meant you could use immolate WITH the bee shield. Back then you could literally kill hyperius in like 3-4 shots of a sandhawk, miss those days...

my favorite character Sorceress Maya.
I prefer Subsequence it changes much all skills (x3-x4 Ruin x3-x4 Convergence x3-x4 Sweet Release per one Phaselock cycle) Subsequence is great.
My fav. weapons is Bitch and Lyuda for Maya, yeah I like more, I like Plasma Casters, I like Butcher, I like Toothpick, I like Anarchist and so and so LOTS of guns
Singularity grenades/Quasar maybe the best option but I like area-effect The Electric Chair/Fire Bee
As for class mods - Legendary Cat the primary for my Bitch SMG :))) and Blurred Tricker, sometimes Legendary Siren, sometime Breackneck Banshee for speed :))
She is wonderful and so enjoyable to play
Btw recently I killed Pyro Pete with Bitch SMG, "Beehawking is not necessary even for raid bosses ;)
I love the Butcher on Maya, she’s one of the few characters I really like it on! I haven’t used the lyuda much on her but I love it on other characters so I can only imagine it’d be good, especially if you can get to the range where the bullet splits and they all get chain reacted. Trickster classmods are a favorite of mine for mobbing, Kinetic Reflection starts doing some real damage and almost every bullet fire will ricochet.

but for bosses, yes, it combines well with chain reaction
look for bnk-3r, you don't need pimpernel to quick kill, you can use lyuda instead

@@Over_9OOO yk I’ve barely used the Cleric class mod at all but it’s interesting to me. I like that it’s a mix of damage and healing. I feel like all of the Tina Coms are niche but powerful and create fun playstyles
Actually Backdraft should be a must go due to a Kill Skill glitch related to it, would be wise to check for that as there are videos about it here on RUclips.

I think most melee overrides are quite good.
Salvador’s fistful o hurt lets you put the stinky on em.
Zero’s execute has no cooldown and lets you fly as long as there’s an enemy in your crosshair.
Gaige’s with claws also has no cooldown, and can do significant damage if you really commit to building around it, also the healing is solid.
Maya’s scorn is free slag
Axton doesn’t have one,
But Krieg’s hellfire Halitosis is by far the worst, with no redeeming qualities.
Gaige’s requires you to stack as much anarchy and melee bonuses as possible to be good beyond level 80, but it’s still better than hellfire halitosis, and is fun to use while
Leveling up which I think is important since that’s the whole point of borderlands 2
You know, you're right. I normally think of them being bad but Krieg's is the only one that's truly detrimental to him. Gaige is the only one thats sorta meh, and the other 3 are all very good

Yeah, there are only three grenades that you should use with maya. The magic missile, chain lightning and the fastball. You use the fastball and or chain lightning in conjunction with the grog nozzle or any moxxi healing weapons to immediately get back to full health, you use the magic missile with a maliwan E-tech slag sniper for 100% slag chance every single time. Fun fact the chain lightning also works for the "this just in side mission" to pull the hunter helquist out from the building without triggering the objective complete. No need to use singularity grenades.

Mate, love this video and I don't even play Maya. I see that kill skill glitch more in builds (Gaige, now Maya), can you find a way to make it work on Axton? On behave of all Axton players, you would be GOAT.
I really wish it were possible but the community has tried everything and it *seems* like it's not gonna happen. At the same time this is the game where glitches get discovered 12 years after release so who knows
Great video! I just got my maya to op10 and was looking around for some builds, I was just wondering why I don't see people use the cat for mobbing? Is their a reason? It seems to do great.
The cat is very great for mobbing! I use it a lot of the time but sometimes it's just overkill for mobbing or people have a different playstyle (for instance I find using a trickster COM to be more fun). It USED to be that pretty much every maya just ran around with cat COMs for max damage all the time
I dislike the negative rep FFYL skills tend to get (in reference to Immolate). Everybody goes down and if you think otherwise you're just lying to yourself. Not much of an argument though cause Helios sucks anyway. It's too bad that Helios doesn't proc after Ruin to get the Slag Bonus.
I also think that Blight Phoenix does more harm than good unless you have all barrels in the game memorized, because it will set them off if you are near them. Putting more than 1 point in BF just isn't worth it IMO because the damage doesn't matter anyways.
If you're trying to go down the tree I think it's still more worth it to put points in Flicker and Immolate to get the Capstone once you have enough points to get to it.
Anyways cool video. Build guides are always nice and it's always fun to see how others see the game. 👍
I'm a unapologetic Immolate user. I get into FFYL enough to get frequent use out of my skills 🤣 When I play Axton I also max out Grit every time and have been known to use Last Ditch Effort here and there.
It's honestly so sad that Helios procs before Ruin. It would still probably be bad but would literally be 3x as good.
Tbh I don't have issues with barrels when using Blight Phoenix. I do anytime I play as Krieg with a Flame though. I don't use a ton of Moxxi weapons but I like the passive healing Blight provides when I do.
I should probably consider Flicker more than I do, but it's just not very fun to me and even though skills like Helios and Blight Phoenix suck, I still find them fun to use.

I had a bullet witch class mod that gave me plus 6 to kinetic reflection, which gave me 110% bullet reduction. Every time I got shot I would regain health.

You said not all "Rank 1-5" skills are bad - I have gameplay on my channel showing of one of the very strong "Rank 1-5" skills.
While also showcasing a different way of playing Zer0 that I believe you have never seen
Its a shock Zer0 build with possibly the fastest cooldwon recharge rate possible.
The build is focused around crowd control with the quasar (Its also getting increased damage during deception because of ambush)
and dealing tons of damage with Zer0s decoy explosion skill.
This is the basic combo:
Apply slag
Throw quasar
Then throwing a deception
Apply Deathmark
Shoot the little eve (getting a kill with this weapon increases cooldwon rate for a few seconds (I believe it stacks with each kill))
End deception
Deception decoy explodes with a Rank 10 Shock explosion that is getting buffed by the bones of the ancient relic (that also gives additional cooldown rate)
Get multiple kills
Get deception back SUPER FKNG FAST
Throw in a quad or even a twister for big damage (perfect with the shock bone)
Do it again litteraly 4 seconds later
Check the gameplay

This is by no means a high dps build - but its very fun
Unf0rseen is one of the few Rank Damage skills thats kinda busted. I’ve known about the build for a while but checked out your video anyway, that’s some really clean gameplay! It was making me wanna play some Zer0. You know, if you really wanna take it to the next level, you can actually stack the effects of the little evie by using a glitch and you’ll actually get Decepti0n back after every kill.
I also really love that the spy class mod was literally made for it. Giving cooldown along with a skill that boosts Unf0rseen was just perfect! I wish there were more classmods designed to alter your playstyle like that

Yo Mr.T I have a question about the first time you fight doc mercy. Is there a way to keep permanently the etech gun you get from him? Mine had 200+ ammo in the mag and I was very surprised when I found out that It was awesome 45damage and about 200-235 cap mag/drum I was very sad to have to give it to zed of all people I'm almost level 12 just started Maya for the first time
You can find other E-Tech blasters around the world from any sort of chest but for some reason they feel super rare to me

also fleet is criminally overrated, if things go awry, u can bet fleet wont save u and on top of that bc u prolly have ward and inertia anyway, speccing into fleet is counterintuitive - u rly only use that skill in very specific scenarios and niche builds
