The Comfort and Freedom models are designed for stationary applications. We have heard of customers installing the Comfort in a van build as they prefer to use the direct vent & electric version, but they are voiding warranty by doing so.

Thank you for the comment. When traditional septic isn't practical or possible, Cinderella is the solution. We like to emphasize this point, because there is no toilet solution today as convenient as a traditional flushing toilet. Most North Americans have become accustomed to that simplicity - you just flush and it "goes away" without another thought about it or significant maintenance. However, if a municipal sewage connection isn't available, or when the applications doesn't allow for the installation of traditional septic for whatever reason, Cinderella in our opinion would be the best option!

There are 2 standard household models available: Cinderella Comfort, which is a 240vAC electric, and Cinderella Freedom (formerly known as Cinderella Gas) which uses propane for the incineration process as well as a small 12v DC power requirement to operate the control screen and blower.

Does the Travel model need to be roof-vented, or can it be vented to the side in a camper van via flexible pipe?
I'm confused about how the urinal unit works, where does the liquid waste go?
Also, what happens when you want to use the toilet unit while the incineration is still ongoing?
The urinal is made to connect to an outside drain or 'french drain' application. The urinal is designed to be odor free and reduces the need to incinerate after every use. Also, if you need to use the toilet itself when it's already incinerating, it simply pauses so you can use it and resumes incineration when complete. You can repeat this process several times per day without any issues as the unit has many built-in safety and operating features for this purpose.
A negative pressure ventilation system for the top of the unit may be needed as the smell could be bad.
There is no smell when installed correctly. And the Cinderella Comfort is a closed system, meaning it uses outside air for combustion so it's not affected by negative air pressure inside the building.
Wish it had an automatic clean button for everything, vents and so on, with no brushes needed. Like that everything turns to ash, easy dump.

My husband and I are totally leaning this way for our off grid camp needs. We have a 9KW solar system recently installed. I'm curious do you have to incinerate after every use or can you incinerate once daily? Wondering if it makes a difference with power usage.
Hello there, thank you for watching and for your question. It is recommended that you incinerate the “biomass” after every use. For off-grid locations it is advised that you purchase the Cinderella Freedom(propane) model as the power requirements are quite minimal. You only need 1.3 Amps on a 12V DC power source during incineration. Your solar system would easily handle this requirement. The toilet has a special sensor that would dictate how long the incineration process should last. This means that the toilet only incinerates as long as it needs to to ensure a fully incinerated waste in the end. That is a good point and one that was considered, but the design today is specific to single use at a time due to 2 reasons: hygiene and certifications. To achieve the only fully UL and NSF certified toilets available in North America, you can't "collect" human waste unprocessed in a primary open container as such prior to incineration. To somewhat address the point you've asked about, the Cinderella Urinal is designed as an option to accommodate the #1 (being the most frequent requirement) so that it reduces the need for the Cinderella Comfort or Freedom incineration process to save energy (electricity or propane respectively) and wear. For those off-grid without a large solar system to accommodate the Comfort model, the Freedom consumes only 180g of propane per incineration cycle. A question about period products - a lot of them contain plastics, would you need to have a talk with guests etc about plastic content of their products 😅, as to what can incinerate? Like, are there some that just can't be incinerated?
That is a very good question. The Cinderella line of incineration toilets are the only UL and NSF certified solution available in North America today. They are specifically designed to incinerate human waste including all paper or wood-based products including such as toilet paper, tissues, pads and tampons. Of course there are some applicators still made of plastic, but if they are put into the Cinderella they will also be incinerated with only ash remaining. While not recommended (you are of course burning a small volume of plastic but releasing chemicals by doing so) it won't harm the system unless done regularly as it can prematurely clog the catalytic converter.
I have a travel trailer and I plan on having it hooked up full time and only moving it when necessary. But I'd like to look into getting one of these. Can the propane model incinerate as fast as electric? Just curious for deciding which model should I get one of these. I just don't want to deal with a black water tank for the potential nasty problems it can have. Ew 😅.
I'd start the incineration cycle once a day just before going to bed. Just so it has a chance to do its thing while I sleep.
I'd need to have my current toilet removed but keep it so when I go to sell the trailer one day to upgrade to another I can put the original toilet back and keep the incinerator toilet to put in the next one. Don't want to give it up as these toilets are expensive. I know nothing about installing these things either so I'd need professional help to make sure it's done right.

Yes, at the current price of propane including the liner cost, that is the average. However, that can be +/- depending on propane costs in the future.
I saw a video posted by a woman in Svalbard, using electricity, having both the incinerator toilet and the urinal, costing approximately 50 cents per use, total. That was the highest per use

An automatic liner dispenser on a roll built into the unit would be good. So no need to handle bags.

That's actually more common than you may think. And the answer is yes, the unit will incinerate any wipes and evaporate the water used.
I don't know if anyone can answer this, in a question below it was said that this model is for residential application only, does that residential application include mobile/tiny homes?
Hello, there are many customers who install these units within mobile & tiny homes with great success. Sometimes certain steps may need to be taken during installation to ensure that the toilet has the proper amount of air flow coming through the ventilation for the toilet to properly incinerate the biomass to a safe and sterile grey ash. The smaller the room the more important the fresh air intake becomes. I hope this helps.

The new Cinderella Travel is designed specifically for RV's and comes with the required ventilation. This model is now available though certified Cinderella dealers in the USA who provide installation services. The Travel will be available to the DIY market later this year to both the USA and Canada.

Is it possible to conserve a bit energy by "flushing" liquid-only waste (with liner) to the burn chamber a couple of times over several hours before starting an incineration cycle? Or are there safety/sanitation concerns with that approach? I realize there will probably still be a similar amount of biomass to incinerate overall, just wondering if there might be some energy savings by taking advantage of fewer chamber warm-ups and maybe some natural evaporation through the venting. You mentioned multiple people being able to use it without waiting for an incineration cycle to finish, so the idea does seem feasible, just not sure if it's impractical for any other reasons. Hello James, Thank you for the question. It is advised by the manufacturer that you incinerate all waste directly after making a "deposit". The liners that you would use are really well designed and are leak resistant. Holding urine within them for an extended period of time could deteriorate the liner material overtime and cause some issues. Please note that the Cinderella incinerating toilets can detect how long it should operate based upon the size of the deposits. This makes the toilet very efficient. The most cost effective solution to curbing your energy or propane consumption would be to use the complimentary unisex urinal. Cinderella incineration toilets have been around now for more than 3 decades with installations in countries all over the world. Designed and manufactured in Norway to the highest standards, they are the only fully UL and NSF certified incineration toilets available in North America today. A 3 year standard residential use warranty applies. What is max number of flushes before one can start the burn cycle?
You would 'flush' each time, meaning the cycle would start immediately. You can interrupt the cycle at any time, and it will resume when the next user is finished.

Good question. The Cinderella line of incineration toilets come with an industry leading 3-year warranty. This model is UL and NSF certified, which is again the only incineration toilet with these certifications today. Like any appliance, for warranty to apply they need to be installed correctly and maintained. Emptying the ash bin regularly, and performing the cleaning as outlined in the owners manual will result in optimal performance and reduce premature wear & maintenance. You can use any of our incineration toilet models (Freedom, Comfort, or Travel) for all waste including feminine hygiene products.
The duration of the incineration cycle depends on the size of the deposit. For example, urine doesn't take very long to evaporate, but a #2 would take longer. Generally speaking, between 40 and 50 minutes. It's important to note that other users can interrupt that cycle if they need to go to the restroom, and it will resume again when they are finished.
Demo would be more complete if you had demonstrated cleaning the unit.

With that in mind, this is a technologically advanced machine and quite revolutionary as it requires no water to operate. So while it may appear expensive when compared to a porcelain toilet (that has to connect to a septic or sewer system), or compared to other types of off-grid toilets such as composting which requires regular maintenance and generates odors, the Cinderella performs the entire function of a septic system by collecting and incinerating all waste with just sterile ash remaining.

There have been customers purchase and use the electric Comfort for that purpose, but they are designed to be a stationary model and warranty void if installed in a van as it can’t satisfy the specific venting requirement. We are aware of videos that show the Comfort model being used in vans. Just know that warranty is void and the performance may not be the same since the ventilation requirements can’t be properly met. We do not endorse using Comfort for any other purpose except stationary applications.

I would like to use this in a campervan. Is it ok to use lets say you wake up at night to do whatever. And than to only turn it on when you are supposed to wake up? I'm not a fan of leaving my inverter running hot when I'm sleeping.

That model uses LPG for incineration, and just a small amount of 12vDC to operate the exhaust fan and control panel. That would be more appropriate for use and is designed specifically for that purpose. The Cinderella Comfort (electric) or Freedom (LPG) shown in this video are meant for stationary applications such as cabins or homesteads. Although some customers have installed them in mobile applications, that's not what their primary design is meant for. I'm convinced and look forward to making my first incineration toilet purchase but do you have any thoughts on the propane models? Can I assume that a 220 electric would be less expensive to run than a 110? Also, I have some reservations about size and price. I don't spend a lot of time sitting on toilets but I want to be comfortable when I do. Seat size would affect comfort. Are the seats standard size or smaller? And finally, my research shows that a propane toilet sells for around $5k where the incinolet electric is only around $2600. This price difference makes me question the quality of the electric. It is true that you get what you pay for.

Cinderella today offer 3 different models in North America: Cinderella Freedom (LPG) and Cinderella Comfort (220v) which are for stationary applications and the only fully UL & NSF certified models available, and the Cinderella Travel which is designed for mobile applications and again the only UL certified model of it's kind.
The amount of energy required to properly incinerate waste is the same regardless of the energy source used. For example, comparing apples to apples, it would take 2x as long using a 110v source for each incineration cycle vs 220v. Using a lower voltage reduces the maximum heating capacity at any given time. Think of an electric clothes dryer for example, all standard size residential dryers are 220v. It's important to mention that Cinderella Comfort connects only to 220v for the same reason. The Cinderella Comfort also has closed combustion system, meaning it draws in fresh air from the outside and important to note when comparing to other manufacturers. That model is always recommended if you have access to grid power and it has a lower up-front cost. Some exceptions of course can be made for customers who have larger off-grid solar power systems with 220v inverters and ample battery capacity available.
For off-grid cabins and homesteads, the Cinderella Freedom (LPG) is used. That model is identical in size to the Comfort, but uses LPG as the primary energy source for incineration, and a standard 20lb BBQ style tank can provide 75 'flushes' on average (although most customers will use a dual tank setup, or 100lb tanks for convenience). The Freedom then uses a small amount of 12vDC power to operate the control panel and exhaust fan during operation, usually supplied by a standard 12v deep cycle battery or adapter.
The Comfort and Freedom toilet size itself is slightly larger than a conventional flush toilet, and the seat itself is about the same size as a normal toilet would have, but with a slightly different shape.
Compared to other incineration toilet products available today, I can say quite comfortably there is no comparison when it comes to build quality, performance, certifications, or warranty. Lastly - for customers who do not have access to municipal septic or the installation of a septic system isn't practical or possible, the Cinderella line of incineration toilet solutions would in our opinion be the best option. Hello Andrea, thank you for the question. Cinderella has been manufacturing these toilets for 25 years now. They are very well engineered and designed with the highest quality components. It is not uncommon for people to still be using the same toilet for 15+ years. With proper maintenance and upkeep there is no reason that the lifespan of the toilet couldn’t last far beyond this. All working parts and mechanisms can be replaced over time quite easily, prolonging the life of the toilet.

@@__WJK__ The worst-case scenario is that the toilet is installed incorrectly. Problems are rare in the first few years of operation, but if the ventilation is not completed as required, the airflow though the system won't be sufficient and cause parts such as the heating element in the electric version to prematurely wear out, catalytic converter will plug up faster and require more frequent cleaning, and overall performance of combustion is reduced resulting in more energy used to complete an incineration cycle. Improper installation aside - the Cinderella is a machine. Just a like a car there will always be wear items to replace. The amount of time before these parts require changing will vary depending on the number of users, frequency of use, if it's a seasonal cabin or full-time occupied home for example. But generally speaking, the electric version will require the heating element to be replaced every few years. Think of an electric oven for example. This could be 2-3 years if used regularly, or 5-7+ years in seasonal use applications. The LPG model uses sensors and thermocouples, which just like any gas appliance will need replaced in time. The key to performance is proper installation, and regular maintenance as prescribed in the manual such as running a steam cleaning cycle to keep the converter clean and system running efficient.

Hello - good question! And you are correct. The reason is that Natural Gas is normally available to urban areas that are also connected to the electrical grid. For off-grid applications, the propane (LPG) model is available for stationary applications such as cabins or off-grid homesteads, or the Travel model which is made for mobile applications such as RV's, sprinter vans, boats, etc. Since natural gas isn't "portable" and requires connection to a natural gas line, propane is used and the Freedom and Travel models are configured exclusively to use propane only. How many times can you use the toilet before incineration? i.e. Do you have to incinerate every time you use it, or can you wait until 2 or 3 people have used it?
We have heard of some customers 'collecting' 2-3 deposits over the course of a full day before starting the incineration process, but it is not recommended.That is because the liner can become saturated and stick to the stainless steel door preventing it from sliding properly into the chamber. In most situations, the user would use the toilet and close the lid, and then press the button to begin the the incineration process. If another user needs to use it, they simply open the lid and the incineration process pauses. When finished, they close the lid and the process continues until incineration is complete. All Cinderella units have sensors which detect moisture content and ensures the incineration process is complete regardless of how many users may visit in a 24hr period. There would be very little reason from an efficiency perspective to 'collect' deposits and wait to incinerate as the cycle would simply last longer (and consume more energy) to ensure the entire volume was properly incinerated anyway. It varies depending on, shall we say, the type and volume of the deposits ;) but since the units are UL and NSF certified they will completely incinerate the waste leaving only sterile ash in the bin which would be emptied as needed.
I am very interested in owning an incinerator toilet. Because I am considering my options to own a tiny home of some kind, including the possibility of owning a shipping container home. But, the incinerator urinal seems like it can become very confusing. Especially, for young children, older people, and drunkards. I have no doubt that the urinal incinerator can be confused with the electric or the gas incinerator for some people; particularly in an emergency. In which case, the urinal incinerator would be waste of money and time, if you can also use the electric or gas incinerator for the same purpose.
Hello, Thank you for your comment, it is much appreciated. You are 100% correct that the Cinderella Comfort (Electric) and the Cinderella Freedom (Propane) can incinerate both urine and #2 waste. This means that either toilet will work for any application by itself. The Cinderella Unisex Waterless urinal does not incinerate the urine. The design and application of the urinal would be similar to that of other items that would need to attach to a drainage system. The Urinal is used to supplement the incinerating toilet and can help mitigate the amount of electricity or propane used. The Cinderella Urinal is also ideal for high traffic areas. Hello Alan - The comfort is typically used for grid-connected customers as it requires a 240vAC connection. The Yeti 6000 also has 120vAC output only. The Cinderella Freedom is an LPG model and designed for off-grid use, requiring only a small amount of 12vDC power to operate the display and exhaust fan during operation. Lastly, both the Comfort and Freedom models are designed for stationary use (i.e. homes, cottages, or cabins). If the cargo trailer was being parked, you could install the required venting to meet warranty requirements. Otherwise, for mobile applications the Cinderella Travel is scheduled for a 2023 release in North America and is designed for that purpose.

For incineration toilets, no. They all require a liner which is used to 'collect' and easily slide the deposit into the incineration chamber. Not using a liner would require a thorough cleaning of the stainless steel door opening after each use.

How long does it run after an average use?
Hi there, thanks for the question. The length of the incineration process can vary depending on the size of the “deposit”. The Cinderella incinerating toilet is able to detect how long it should run automatically. Most cycles can vary from 30-60 minutes. That number can also vary depending on whether or not the toilet has been used again since the cycle began. Adding more deposits will lengthen the time of the process. If someone needs to use the washroom while an incinerating cycle is ongoing they only need to lift the toilet lid. There is a magnet sensor that is within the lid that will pause the cycle when the lid is lifted. This allows multiple people to use the toilet during a cycle. Good question - the answer is... you don't have to wait :) If someone uses the toilet, and someone else comes in afterwards and the unit is still incinerating, they only need to lift the lid and the incineration process will pause. The new person can use the toilet, and when they close the lid the process will resume. The advanced safety features and superior build quality means that even when the process is interrupted, there is no excess heat or smell to worry about for any users that follow.

Great question - The Cinderella line of incineration toilets are designed to be a solution where tradition septic isn't possible or feasible. They are a working machine, designed specifically to efficiently and safely eliminate human waste. They have been manufactured for more than 25 years now in Norway, and have an extensive track record of high performance. They are also the only UL and NSF certified models available in North America today to meet any municipal or environmental approval. While some may view a traditional 'flush' toilet that costs around $250, they forget that it's connected in the cities to a massive sewer and septic treatment infrastructure which their taxes pay for. Outside of the city or off-grid applications, that same toilet needs to connect to a septic tank and septic field, which depending on the location can cost $15k+ to install and maintain. People have become very use to 'flushing' and not think about where their waste is going. With Cinderella, no water is required and only sterile ash remains.
Does anyone have the electrical schematic? 12VDC - how is the power hooked up?
Hello there, Thank you for reaching out with your question. The 12VDC power connection cable is connected to the power control board within the toilet. The other end of the cable has two stripped wires, POS & NEG, that can be connected directly to a 12V DC battery power source, DC Fuse Block or with an AC to DC adapter/converter. The power control board controls the burner fan, sensors, blower fan, display and ignition. Typically, you can expect to see the toilet draw around 4.3 amps of power during incineration. Good question! Cinderella incinerating toilets use a specialized combustion chamber including catalyst which is monitored by various sensors. When installed properly, only the exhaust from combustion exits the pipe, and there is no smell.

I’ve heard some incineration toilets can be used up to six times before having to initiate a burn cycle. Is this an option on any of the Cinderella models?
The design and certifications are intended to incinerate after each use. This is important to note, because today Cinderella is the only fully UL and NSF certified incineration toilet available in North America. But that's not the only reason, it's also the most efficient as the Cinderella employs various sensors that detects the moisture content, temperature, etc. If you have multiple users that need to 'go', every time you lift the lid the cycle pauses and starts again when that user is finished. Since the burn chamber is already heated, that subsequent cycles will take less time (and less energy overall).
I want to add a bidet (water pick for my butt) to a camper toilet - possibly on a F150 hybrid with 7500 watt power. :) Do people use these in campers? Can you pause the cycle for when you are running down the road? How are the air vents affected by 65 mph wind?
We've never been asked about adding a bidet... so you may need to reach out by phone and ask for our technical expert regarding that matter. However, I can say that the new Cinderella Travel is more suitable for mobile applications such as campers as it's designed for that purpose. And yes, you can pause the cycle by lifting the lid, do your business, and the incineration cycle will resume. And as a closed air combustion system, wind does not affect combustion provided the installation is done correctly.

Hello Valentina, Thank you for your question. The T-Bend has since been replaced with a 90 degree elbow. Once this elbow is set in place within the toilet exhaust it will extend out behind the toilet around 8-8.5 inches. When installing the pipe vertically please notice that the minimum distance from the wall to the toilet must be 11 1/32". I hope this helps. The electrical requirement to incinerate would be more than a 12vDC battery bank could provide. Currently the electric model required 240vAC and is meant for grid-tied applications. For off-grid applications the Freedom uses LPG for the primary incineration, and a small amount of 12vDC to operate the control panel and exhaust fan. There will be a model released next year that is designed specifically for mobile applications such as boats, RV's, etc. That model also uses LPG but is designed specifically for those installation environments.

How would this perform in an RV during the winter?
The Cinderella Freedom (Gas version) and Cinderella Comfort (Electric version) are designed and certified for residential applications only and have no issues with performance during winter months when vented properly. If you're in the extreme north (i.e. Alaska, Northern Canadian locations, or areas with very long & cold winters) there is additional intake pipe insulation which can be used to prevent condensation from freezing. That aside, when the unit itself is very cold the first combustion cycle of the day can take a bit longer.
The Cinderella Travel (formerly known as Cinderella Motion) is specifically designed for installation in mobile applications such as RV's, boats, trains, etc. However, it it not yet available in North America at the time of this note which is Oct 2021. We're hoping that model will be released later in 2022.

How many incineration’s would a 20 pound propane tank get me? ballpark of Cours?
The Cinderella incineration toilet uses sensors to determine the moisture content and adjusts the cycle length and temperatures as required. However, based on our experience and feedback from customers, a standard 20lb propane tank would provide between 70 and 100 incineration cycles. I hope that helps!
What happens if a guest forgets to use a liner?😵
Good question and an easy answer - the unit will function as normal, but your guest will need to wipe / clean anything that remains which hasn’t slid off of the trap door with wipes and cleaners. The purpose of the liner is to ensure the entire deposit slides directly into the incineration chamber without any need to clean afterwards. There’s also the possibility of material like toilet paper jamming between the door and chamber frame if the liner isn’t used which will cause an error and the unit will not start incineration until cleared.
Can you modify the toliet seat on the unit?
Sorry, but unfortunately no. Due to the safety mechanisms attached to the seat, it would be quote difficult to modify / customize.

The manufacturing process for the outer shell uses a special polymer blend with thermal properties that act as an insulation to protect the user of excess heat. The internal components are stainless steel and higher quality metal components.
What about odour?
Provided the unit is installed correctly, there is no odour during or after an incineration. This is a fully certified self-contained incineration unit with catalytic converter, so any exhaust vented to the outside has already gone though the process. Only sterile ash remains.

Actually, the Freedom model operates using a small amount of 12vDC and propane. It is UL and NSF certified and designed specifically for off-grid situations such as cabins or off-grid homesteads. The Cinderella Travel is another off-grid model and the first and only UL certified incineration toilet designed specifically for RV's and mobile applications. The Cinderella Comfort is an electric model, and we have many off-grid customers that have larger solar power systems using this model today. The Cinderella line of incineration toilets are designed to be a waste management solution for customers that cannot connect to traditional septic because it's either not possible or practical for their situation. Are these quieter than the incinolet?
That's a good question - Cinderella Comfort is fully UL and NSF compliant, and a direct vent system meaning it draws in air from the outside for combustion via a separate air intake pipe whereas all other competing models use room air. We haven't tested the sound levels for other models, but that's a great idea and one test we'll conduct in the future. Good question as we all have drunken friends visiting from time to time! The unit will still function normally - the bowl will open and the contents will be incinerated safely. When your friend wakes up embarrassed and hungover, you make them clean off the bowl with moist paper towel and a mild cleaning agent. They probably won't make the same mistake again 😉
Is there a 110 or only 220?
Hello, At this time there is only a 220V version. A higher voltage system is more efficient than a lower one because it loses less energy from resistance when the power draw is the same. Cinderella's R&D team worked on developing a 120V version but they felt that they could not guarantee a perfectly incinerated fine grey ash at the end of the cycle. I’m not sold. So I spend 5,000 dollars on a toilet and not only have to buy toilet paper for life, but now poop bags? I’m not a dog. And that’s a lot of money.

An interesting comment lol. But as the video suggests, the Cinderella is UL and NSF certified and designed specifically to turn human waste into sterile ash. It's a solution for areas that cannot connect to traditional septic systems. An example of where a Cinderella would be beneficial would be someone with a homestead of cabin trying to meet building codes, and cannot practically install a traditional septic system. Or in the case of an RV, it would replace the messy black water tanks. Of course there are other products out there ranging from composting to urine diverting toilets (and we offer them all so we aren't biased!). We even have a basic bucket with a plastic toilet seat for customers looking for the most basic solution :) Just be careful where you dump it!
