      Ram Paul For arguments sake let’s say you’re right, then you should go vegan: the vast majority of plants are grown as animal feed, to reduce plant death to the minimum compatible with continued human survival one should therefore feed those plants directly to humans. Animal agriculture is the least economical way to feed humans possible. Moreover, plants cannot avoid predators and therefore have had no evolutionary incentive to have developed pain (a harm avoidance strategy). Plants have developed in light of the fact that the greater part of their body is likely to be destroyed. I think this should give the a priori grounds for reevaluating you assertion. Get back to me when you’ve an intelligent response

    • @rampaul456

      @@mcel6551 @Mc el I am not telling any philosophy, this is not a philosophy class going on. I am saying with proper scientific and research evidence that plant do respond to damage of its tissues. I again repeat my stayement, if you cause any damage to it, its screams. I dont know what kind of evolutionary benefit it gives to the plant but this is an observed phenomenon. For example u can go through this research paper if u wish arxiv.org/abs/physics/0611133
      I hope you belong to the so called intelligent species of this planet and i hope so your intelligence is enough to grasp this.
      Coming to the other point, any animal is dependent on plants for there food. So that means if there is animals in this planet then there will be eating of plants. But you see here this is the balance of life. Animals eats plant they produces dung which acts as bio manure, also when the animals dies their dead body decomposes to become top soil. Thus plants also depends on animals for there survival. You can not deny that for your survival you have to kill someone, and you will one day get killed yourself for someone else survival. This is the food web.
      And if you compare then animal feed is not the major cause of death of plant in the planet. The deforestations that happen through out is not to provide food for animals its just for the greed of we human.

    • @mcel6551
      @mcel6551 4 года назад +13

      Ram Paul How do you mean, philosophy? I’m just trying to use terms with precision. For instance, a scream is produced by vocal chords, therefore a plant ‘scream’ can only be such by analogy. I tried to point some reasons for supposing the analogy to be limited.
      Regarding your second point: obviously all flesh dies and decays, and feeds other organisms just as it fed. I don’t understand what this has to with the moral obligation not to kill or torture beings which desire to live and fare well?

      @@LouisGedo hey Louis, we indians drink cow milk and yes we use diary products but not by exploiting the animals. In ancient times, we treated cows like our family member. Every house has a cow, we protect the cows from big animals and feed/take care of her and treat cows like our mothers. In exchange we get milk after her calf had his potion. Then we make many food articles with milk like curd, paneer, dahi and mithai etc. In india we worship cows and other animals because they give us a lot and feed us morally. And I used to educate people to follow non violence and I used to debate against non vegetarians and I turned one of my friend as vegetarian and one day he sent me a FB video link of yours that "A request to every Hindu" where the 1st time I heard about Veganism which is the true Non violence and I just subscribed your channel in RUclips and watched all your videos and I was inspired by Veganism and I just committed to turn VEGAN no eggs and dairy products and not using any animal products even in clothing and now I am trying to educate people on Veganism I am really thankful to u for realizing me the true AHIMSA path.
    AHIMSA PARAMO DHARMA🙏🙏

    Initially I agreed with all the logics of aravind and already me being a vegetarian it didn't seem much difficult to be vegan.
    However I am sorry to say this at some point your ideology is tottering towards extremity , pointing out every thing a mistake ?
    I accept forcebly inseminating is wrong and agree with this. Now pointing to those of village led lives really raises me a concern. That rearing a cattle / animals is itself against there will - then how would our civilization got evolved.
    Aravind humans from the stage of Hunter gatherer slowly evolved to cultivate agriculture , pottery and domestication of animals all this played a vital role to form a community and this incipient life was the reason to what we have reached now in the technology .
    In that sense what is ur opinion regarding the term domestication.
    Could you imagine 5000 years ago harappans or Egyptians or Mesopotamians with no tractors and no technological vehicles , and with no animal help how would they have evolved.
    Growing cattle , bull ,ox , sheep against there will ! raiding horses , elephants , camels against there will ! etc etc etc then no transportation for us at those days.
    doesn't this seem you are going to that extreme where people who admired u would get vexed off .
    I still remember my grandmom was so close to her only one cow named savitri , when she calls the cow by her name , savitri runs towards her , licking her hands with such an affection.
    At this point of your argument now I should blame my grandma for rearing a cattle , is that so ?
    Leave out little exceptions aravind tell people to love animals treat them friendly , suggest them to leave the cattle to graze free , by the evening with no one's guidance cattle they themself come back to home , suggest that let them chose there own partner for mating.
    Tell not to make the animal life commercial.
    Leaving out all this don't blindly comment even in villages what they do is wrong , what ever we do is against the will of animals etc....

    • @RangaPrakashs
      @RangaPrakashs 4 года назад +4

      // I disagree here, Arvind is showing you how far animal abuse is being mistaken for culture, In our olden days, people lived near the rivers and had good water,clean air, and no way to farm in scale due to lack of variety of seeds and dependency on rain, which made it unsustainable hence we depended on animals for our daily needs. after commerce enabled the trading of seeds and much better technology inventions like irrigation, crop cycle our dependency on animals reduced. We were self sustainable without milk or dairy, We could have have easily changed our diets, and moved to a kinder diet such as being a vegan, however profits and loss did not let us.
      It is because we are evolved enough to have consciousness and thinking power more than our animal counter parts,We have the duty to be more considerate and kind, Example ? Do we still wear animal skin only below our hip and walk around with a club? carry a cross-bow and fight on top of elephants? and whack anything that moves? No! We now wear cloths, drink coffee on a local store, use Facebook to socialize.. etc.. The point of evolution is to move away from practices that "barbaric and unsustainable" and let more efficient technology guide our way. Do you think, cows be used as food in colonization of mars? Would you take a cow and go farm there and rear cattle? No!! You are evolving, you want to make technology take over and do the hard work, and honestly animals want it too.
      "I still remember my grandmom was so close to her only one cow named savitri , when she calls the cow by her name , savitri runs towards her , licking her hands with such an affection.
      At this point of your argument now I should blame my grandma for rearing a cattle , is that so ?"
      Your grandma is a sweet person, who took care of Savithri, But you're not that benevolent nor I. when your grandma milked her cow, she treated that cow as family. Can you imagine what the current dairy industry does to such savithri ?
      Do you think your grandma will drink it's milk after it went through the current dairy process, can she be taken to a dairy farm and be brought with same mental state?? We need to stop comparing ourselves to our ancestors on how they lived, and open our eyes to what is really happening. Rearing cattle is now a business, cows are now called "product". The mindset of corporate is to extract value out of these poor beings! I agree that we required animals till now for evolution, but we no longer need them, and we must free them at the earliest, and if you feel Arvind is pushing you harder, think of how much suffering he is seeing on his level to push us this far, the change must be worth pushing what sane members agrees to follow him.
      Do you think few thousand year domestication which is ingrained in their DNA will be fixed in two years? We must tactically make them evolve to the wild, where they initially belonged. You must seem that I am mad person for thinking this way, No! We domesticated them for thousands of centuries, and fed them false hope of home, where the cattle was put into a shed and was used by the family, now we are putting them in warehouses, behind grills and torturing these beings. Freeing them of any hope that we can save them, they depend on their sense of what is being passed as instinct from generations, and we made our home into their home using generations of selective breeding, Now they are in warehouses being thrown into slaughter after milking them dry, that needs to be changed, The damage is already done to these beings, we must do what ever we can to at least not make them suffer for being such a kind animal and start treating them like family.
      Villages can come later, Change is a self first, and then the society. We should change our urban / more educated /more financially stable areas first, and the rest of the world will follow. We have to start here, and our end goal is to reach the villages and give them a tractors instead of milking machines, fix the land and use technology to give them a living before we save the animals, however starting here is the first step; We have to evolve. We cannot force a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian to become a vegan, however we can educate our next generation to become vegan, we can stop the damage that we did for thousands of centuries within a few centuries to make a vegan society. we certainly can make this place a more kind place, as we Indians are the cradle of kindness.

      @@RangaPrakashs I think you have completely misunderstood my point,
      I said domistication supported in the process of evolution at the same time I even pointed the current modern domestication techniques are completely wrong leaving kind animals into the room of abyss . Secondly I never said aravind was wrong completely , the way he is quoting the things are tottering towards extremist thoughts . One cannot change a society nor can bring a change with even on a closed ones with extreme thinking . My point was to focus on gradual changes with sustainable alternative approaches that make society to move step by step , if we start to reject everything no one is going to care our point.
      Atleast you have supported village reared cows by our ancestors , but aravinds version is rearing of animals is itself wrong however you treat them whether with love or curlity , doesn't matter he opposing the concept of domestication entirely , this raises me to the question of extremity .
      After all aravinds points regarding animal torture was absolutely right , but do our society nor our government care for it. You have pointed technological development moved us away from animal dependency , partially yes , but did this stop in making India top most country in dairy products and fishery exports . In such a huge commercialisation and gaining profits , do the greed really care for this kind of progressive thoughts .
      Yes we cannot rear a cattle on Mars , but I had no intention in running to such a huge acheivments , I see India as an agrarian society and it is bit complicated not like capitalistic Western agrarians. There we find 1000s of hectares owned under single or grouped proprietors. Here in India we have small , marginal and tenant peasants where it's near to impossible in supplying tractors and technological equipments to each peasant who owns from only 2-10 acres . And we should not forget this moving more towards technology is nothing but moving away from the nature , here I hope I need not mention how the environment is tottering towards climate change and biodiversity distraction . Aravinds version not to use animal made clothes either from hair ,skin or from silk warms I completely agree this . Now we move to cotton polyester , nylon made synthetic clothes , leaving away cotton all other synthetic made clothes some where or the other are becoming reason for environmental distraction . WWF - living planet report finds numerous of marine animals are found with polyester cloth bits in there belly.
      I don't know whether u have watched aravinds explanation regarding ahimsa silk production , if not please try to watch it , you may understand what I really meant . Production of silk involves huge violence of warms this is why an old man kusuma rajaiah from Hyderabad came out with ahimsa silk production that involves in no killing of warms , Again here Aravind had pointed even this approach to be wrong. Here note that India is the only country globally that produces all 5 kinds of silks - malabary , eri , muga , tropical tusar and temperate tusar , this is one amongst those fields where India is ahead of China's silk production. India holding such an achievement globally this made India top most country in silk production , here would aravinds points will it be validated to those who relay on its profits would the central care for aravinds explanation. Aravind keep on pointing the mistakes in everything , but he never comes to a sustainable approach the only answer he gives is refuse it completely. Now please tell me India is not amongst those capitalistic nations it is still an agrarian society , refusing everything without providing an sustainable alternative approach ,is not the answer , this is what I mean.
      Animal activists thinks extreme regarding animal Care and protection , environmental activists think extreme level of environmental protection in between none leaves space in forming a balanced society nor a balanced approach. Really at sometimes it seems that it would be better to become an ascetic.

      Hi Kumari, Sorry, I just thought I would step in and help you out here if I can. Arvind must be busy and so I doubt he even goes through the comments.
      The general claim is that you could get B12 from vegetables contaminated with soil. But I have read that this is very rare. It is also agreed that you could could B12 from rivers, streams or best from spring water. However, in this modern day, since we sanitise and treat our food and water system, no B12 is left in them when we consume them. I do not know about Sri Lanka, but I assume this must be true about the food and water in Sri Lanka if they are sanistised and treated. So, the only option is to take supplements and food added with B12.
      If you visit a Pharmacy, I am sure you should be able get B12 tablets. If you want to be extra cautious, please check if the B12 tablets are vegan (check online or enquire with the manufacturer) as manufacturers sometimes add some ingredients for taste and other purposes. So, chances are that the B12 tablets could be non-vegan. If you are concerned, search for the supplements (vegan ones) online, there could be some companies selling online. You might also try and search some (local or Sri Lankan) vegan groups who might have more information on where and how to get B12 supplements which are vegan.
      Regarding the food added with B12, nowadays, many foods are added with B12 and other vitamins. Please check vegan foods like plant based milk and nutritional yeasts.There might be other foods added with B12, but since I am not from Sri Lanka (I am in Australia), it is best to check the ingredients list on the food label. However, it is probably a good idea to connect with other local vegans and ask for help on this one.
      Thank you and sorry for the long answer.

Because no matter how innocent or vulnerable an animal is and how monstrous or cruel a Rapist or murderer is, society gives more value to human over an animal. Please google the inhuman experiments done on animals. You will realise that no sentient and innocent living being should go through so much suffering? You’ll feel sick to your stomach with some of the experiments done on animals. Imagine you are caged your entire life and different chemicals and so called medicines are poured over the different parts of your body and eventually you die painfully after many months and years of suffering. Why should they suffer for our benefits? Where is the justice in that?

      Go and see how cruely milk are produced..

I had also chosen to wipe away the guilt and continue to relish diary, but your videos are now compelling me to make the change. I just stopped my Akshayakalpa and Country Delight subscriptions for diary. I once accidentally ate a bar with collagen from grassfed cows - in the US - I was so foolish to first of all think that grass fed cows was a good thing - thanks to marketing. And then grass fed collagen - what the hell... I dint realize until later. I sunk down and suffocated in guilt for a long time. But still diary was not in the realm of cruelty and I was so ignorant of the atrocities that happen in India because I chose to be naive ---- until I saw your videos. Dont know how I ended up seeing, but glad I did. Thank you. Thank you for opening my eyes. God bless you - your cause.

    • @sakshimittal
      @sakshimittal 4 года назад +3

      Some animals are meant to be domesticated. But that doesn’t mean they’re being tortured. Ask yourself why a stray dog lives a miserable life. Dogs are meant to be in protected environment where they can have proper food, safe and warm home. Dogs are actually wolves and it was wolves that approached us, not the other way around, probably while they were scavenging around garbage dumps on the edge of human settlements. Friendliness caused strange things to happen in the wolves. They started to look different. Domestication gave them splotchy coats, floppy ears, wagging tails. So that’s how dogs are meant to be domesticated if domestication is the next answer that pops up in your head, you already have the answer. For injections, this is for their own good, like humans babies need to get vaccinated so that they don’t catch any deadly disease later on in life.

    • @Sachinmkammar
      @Sachinmkammar 4 года назад +2

      True. We should create an environment where pets can live with THEMSELVES instead of petting them. You take away dogs/cats/etc from their mother or siblings or its species and pet it. Yes you may give love and better life (acc to humans not to them) but in reality dogs need their space which humans are not allowing it. You forcefully making it to love you eventual which is nothing but exploitation in his words which is wrong. Btw I support veganism and I'm trying to be one. They need an environment to live with themselves not for you to pet them for your selfishness. It's not giving better life. What do you think if dog has option to choose between you or other dogs whom will it choose?

    • @sakshimittal
      @sakshimittal 4 года назад +2

      @Sachin kammar I completely agree with what you’re saying. That’s why I want people to adopt dogs not buy. I’m completely against the breeding of dogs for the sole purpose of selling them. I’m against speciesism. Dogs living on streets or in shelters deserves better homes(human homes). So, I don’t think this should be bad for them, infact they’ll get love which we all know stray dogs so crave for because stupid humans just scare them.

    brilliant response filled with logic !
    Only friendly suggestion to Arvind is " Please understand what you are trying to do is transformational. As a change agent, you may want to exercise more patience and understanding so that you can succeed in influencing other's viewpoint. No viewpoint is stupid. Everyone has got limitations in understanding the truth. If you blend your passion with patience, you can surely succeed in this selfless endeavor. Every individual asking you questions is doubting not just your truth but also his own truth. He might be disturbed with what he is currently doing. He might be asking questions to validate himself or convert himself. (remember he had options to ignore you but he chose to connect with you with questions). So, if you respond like a gentle giant then the sceptics once convinced can become staunch advocates. Your response can become both logical and magical.
    Thank you for your selfless efforts in making us more humane ! God bless...

    Read the GITA, answer lies there. Anyway I will try to explain, our intelligence is limited so we have a limited vision which is faulty. The Vedas teaches us how to live, what to eat and what not to, and cow milk is not prohibited. The Vedas teaches us how not to exploit the cow, example: the cow has to be loved only than she will give milk freely, and you have to take only half the milk and the remaining half is for the calf, that was followed strictly. And you do not abandon the cow when she grows old and stops giving milk, because even her dung and urine are important, urine was used for medicinal purpose and her dung for various things like for making incense sticks. No wonder she is called 'goumata'. In short the cow was never exploited, she was loved and treated like a mother and she looked after us as a mother would with her milk, urine and dung.
    Remember the cow is not a wild animal, she is a domestic creature, she needs to be loved and looked after, you do that and she will reciprocate, it is not called exploitation. In a family isn't there give and take, don't we take from our parents? Doesn't our parents give us everything.... is it exploitation? No it is not.

    • @fordidi81

      Do you take from ur parents anything forcefully or by torturing them like people do with cows. Can u imagine ur mother being forced to breed and give her milk for some other species. Comon man.. u are not living in times of Vedas... Go and see the realty with your own eyes. Such hypocrites we are. Wherever we dont have logical answers we quote some scripture. God has given you eyes to see and brain to use not to believe any scripture to hide ur wrong actions.

      Sinha sahab ... U should visit a dairy farm sometime and take Geeta along and when the calf is getting deprived of milk then show him Geeta and tell him that it's written here that its the right thing to deprive you and see if the calf agrees with you. Sir, scriptures are there to give u wisdom to use ur own logic and brain. They never tell us to follow blindly. Will you steal cloths of girls taking bath in a pond just becoz its written in a scripture that lord Krishna did it. Please use ur wisdom given by krishna to understand things.

    You are right... And also most of the people did not think logically before they were vegetarian or non vegetarian... It became their culture even before they would think of any logic of what's right and wrong.... So many of them will not try to apply logic even now because they are comfortable with their culture now and don't care anything sacrificed for their comfort...
    People find it easy when it's a culture and majority will not change their mindset by logic.... What you are telling is so simple to stop cruelty against anyone... but it seems they keep cruelty aside just to protect their culture and comfort zone and try all the excuses they have to go against the logic by this they are just supporting cruelty...
    Also I would like to add that there are many others who unknowingly support this system because they aren't aware of what's going behind to bring that product for them... and if they understand they stop immediately without going into any kind of debate.... Because they don't want to support cruelty any more after knowing...
    Bro You are really doing a good job of making everyone aware along with your mind-blowing examples which defeats any excuses..

    Great work debunking the dairy justifications. Usually I admire Sadhguru's wisdom. But again, no one can be right all the time. A genuine question that I usually struggle to answer is about the utility aspect! We like it or not, earth has turned into a workshop of human beings and unless it's useful, it would be considered weed at least on a large organizational scale. It is unfortunate fact that everything on Earth is viewed with an economic scale. Once that changes a lot of things change. Isn't it?

    Every once in a while I land up in a situation where someone I really care for offers me something with milk or refined sugar in it and I find myself faced with the choice between either turning it down (and possibly hurting feelings) or compromising with veganism (I sometimes end up doing the latter).
