Thanks for posting this. Not just because of the game but love to hear what goes on behind the scenes instead of the commercials. I used to work behind the scenes at a show too many years ago, and as interesting and fun that was, it definitely ain't tv.
It would be so cool if you could upload some games from 2006-07. That '07 game at San Jose State was a great comeback, the final vs. Washington was great, heck, even the game at Louisiana Tech was awesome. Plus several from '06 including the bowl game where *Brennan* sets the mark for TD passes in a season. Would really love it if you could upload some of those. Thanks for this one... a classic *Hawaii* game for sure!!!
Had the Hawaii Bowl existed during this year, Hawaii not only gets the invite, but they win that game too by a country mile. Arguably the greatest Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Football Team to not make it to a bowl game. #GoBows
Just watched the 1st qtr. Not surprisingly ESPN commentary was BYU this and BYU that. Also updates from sideline reporter was only about BYU. Reminder ESPN there are two teams playing.
That was only because Staley had a serious injury the week before against Mississippi state that he was never able to recover from. Without that injury he would have been drafted in the first 3 rounds and BYU would have won this game.
...And BYU was complaining of WHY they weren't even being considered late in 2001 for Nat. Championship game! I'll tell you why. First of all, they shoulda lost the holy war game. 7 of their games were in the Mountain West. 8 of their opponents had losing records. I mean really bad...Cal 1-10; Wy 2-9; Nev, SD St, Miss St "all" 3-8; Tulane 3-9; etc. Also, not one of their reg. season opponents were even ranked!!
Lmfao I remember before this game BYU was threatening lawsuits because they were told they were going to be left out of the BCS, then proceeded to lay this egg 😂
june jones would not take out "the non improving Timmy chang" because he said theres no one who can run this complicated offense. rolovich proved him wrong....what a liar
BYU complained that they should be ranked #1 in nation just because they were undefeated. I actually predicted BYU would lose this. After comparing stats & of course, I knew they wouldn't be able to handle their amazing speed!
@@sebastian_barcelone I don’t think their gripe was with where they were ranked; if I recall they were pissed they were told they were going to be left out of the BCS because of their weak schedule and actually threatened lawsuits the week leading up to this game. Hawaii then proceeded to give 72 reasons why BYU did not belong in the BCS and lawsuit chatter came to a screeching halt.

Greatest game of 2001. Loved this Hawaii team. They so deserved a bowl game. Stutzman punting the ball is an all-timer.

Funny thing about Luke Staley: 7th round draft, never played a down in the NFL. So much for the butt kissing by the ESPN crew.

Attendance for this game was a sellout crowd of 50,000 fans.
