It is amazing how accurately you are playing this and yet how little it sounds like Vai. He truly does have one of the most distinctive sounds in guitar.
    Great job man.

This is one of my all time favourite rhythm guitar parts, and probably my second favourite Vai tune (yes, I did just say a David Lee Roth tune is my second favourite Vai tune - sue me!). It's enough flavour to elevate an otherwise fairly bog standard 80s pop rock number to the next level of tastiness, but not so much that it starts sounding like fusion, not that there's anything wrong with fusion... This is _exactly_ the right amount of flavour. 80s guitar perfection!

I'm old enough to have played this in bands when it first came out. Like you, i always found it great fun playing Steve's inventive lines. I actually used to played the whole song with a heavy single delay to simulate some of the harmony parts Steve added (presumably), and of course, to use on the solo. Great work & looking forward to the solo video. 😉

The Eat em’ and smile stuff is the best. I was roughly 15 when that album came out. It was actually my first concert. Tesla was the opener and at the time no one knew who they were.😂

It's such a beautiful song and such incredibly beautiful playing, in its time, that album was the pinnacle to beat. Really nice lesson and breakdown, thanks for putting in the time. Would love to see more classic Vai stuff like this. HIna was a favorite of mine, and another amazing Vai lesson in all the things I need to get better at. Hahah

Steve was just that good lol, btw he had his amp moded for some crazy and remarkable name guy back in the 80s so his tone can’t be reproduced. However you did an excellent job making your own similar to his. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jose Arrodondo modded it. He worked with EVH and anyone who was anyone in that golden era of 80s hard rock. Pete Thord did a cool video on it. Steve Vai talks about it, and Dave Friedman pulls it apart and looks at exactly what was done to it
