Hey, one more thing I forgot to mention: when adding the second floor, please don't turn it into a labirynth with locked doors, where you need to get the key to unlock the other door, as other fangames do. To keep the spirit of the pre-alpha's level design, you should make some of the rooms optional, or unlocked from the start.
I am absolutely ecstatic and looking forward to release! One thing I will say is that I feel like the lighting is a bit off from where it was during the Kickstarter Pre-Alpha, not a deal breaker by any means but just something that I would love to see a Hello Neighbor fangame nail.
Brooo, you don't even understand... You're like my hero for making this game. Pre-Alpha is my absolute #1 favourite version of Hello Neighbor ever, so to see you make an updated and more polished and refined version of the game is like a love letter to me.
A suggestion I that's really just for some realism is that the neighbor wont attack you on the first day (aka when you boot up the game) until you either go past the front yard or in his house and he sees you, ringing on the door bell will cause him to open the doors and then slam them in your face
Oh my god. I wasn't familiar with your game wtf. The level of AI complexity is insane, you really are not only replicating how smart he was but also making him smarter and less buggy. Great work
I don’t know anything about this mod right now (although it seems kewl and I’m thinking of playing it) but I had an idea of every action in the game such as moving, throwing objects, opening doors having a sound level, so for example dropping an apple makes virtually no noise, but throwing a trash can would make a ton of noise. And loud or odd noises would alert the neighbor. This would make it so you would constantly be worrying about what you’re doing, making it feel like your intruding and trying not to get caught
Nice! You should add creaky floor boards like the one from Granny so that if you walk on a creaky floorboard it will make a sound and alert the neighbor
Idea: instead of the buckets just existing, it would be better that when if falls on you not only does it add a liquify and water overlay on the screen but also makes you walk slower and unable to close doors or pick up items for a second or two and making the camera have like a wonky animation. Maybe even adding a quick mechanic to wipe your eyes to speed up being able to do things normally again.
Now this is what I call a restoration! Say, I'm curious... are you planning to, in the future, work on the rest of the house's floors? I feel like that's a relatively tough challenge, making a house that big suitable for the Neighbor's AI.
dude you have inspired to make my own hello neighbor game I have experience with game dev with godot and 3d modelling with blender but because your videos im slowly learning UE and its been a pleasant experience thank you
This might be such a small and niche thing to say but something to add to the game is that when you do add upper floor levels to the house you should really use the stair animation and sound from the devgamm animation. Idk small details from that animation gives off a small and claustrophobic atmosphere rather than just full blown sprinting up and down the stairs if that makes sense lol
#1 i did actually know about the banana peel’s function and the neighbor’s lovely speed walking funnily enough 😅. #2 I really do enjoy what you are doing with this game and hope to see it’s future successful. #3 I’d recommend adding a SLIGHT fade out to the chase music before the catch sound plays. If the the slight fade out sounds TOO awkward then don’t do it. Try to test it out though. #4 I don’t have lot’s of advice for now but I might make some follow up comments on this devlog or any other future videos If I ever do have the time to do so. Keep up the good work tho!
IMPORTANT: I forgot to mention that the catch sound you’re using is a trimmed version that doesn’t have the build up right before the abrupt sound plays, now since that build up from the catch sound audio is too long it wont work with the quick and fast jumpscares caused by the neighbor. What I’d recommend doing is only including like about about 4-3-2 seconds of that build up right before the abrupt sound is about to play. (It’s hard to describe audio trimming in text form so bare with me 😭🙏)
i was actually thinking about doing something where when the neighbor gets close to you and reaches his arms out it stars playing that build up sound, to like build tension. not sure if i can make it work the way i want it too though
Yay face reveal that no one asked! Also, do you are a fnafb fan? Im mean, your profile photo on yt is a bonnie with swag glasses, it remind me on that classic fnaf fangame, also cant wait for play this mod!
i wouldnt say im a fan of fnafb but i did have fun watching videos of it back in the day that's not where my icon comes from though, its actually a really dumb story lol
this game looks really good so far! a suggestion i have is to maybe make the furniture stacking more varied instead of it just being a furniture wall? edit: what if the bucket traps gives you input delay or they slow your sensitivity down?
I hope the power consumption in this fan game isn't very high like the original Pre-Alpha, Alpha 1 and i guess even Hello Neighbor: Alternative Reality. My Power Supply is rather sensitive to high usage. I am thirsty for an expanded Pre-Alpha!
I have one suggestion. Have you experimented with the player moving furniture? If not, can you please make it work like in the game teardown? That would be amazing.
How about make him randomly pick up puzzle items and move them around? Like, imagine you check the place where crowbar is usually located, but it's not there
@@oisinmurray1196technically they could, but i highly doubt they will. tinybuild doesn't seem to care about fangames all that much. if anything they'd probably ask to take it down, which again is unlikely. i would be a bigger target if i charged money for it though since it would be me making money off an idea and assets i dont own, which would be cause for a suit. but generally no
Also I think if you wanted to make the game harder, make it so that the neighbor checks EVERY hiding spot when in hunt mode because that would be more realistic if someone thinks someone else broke into their home. I can see why you wouldn’t add this because its very unfair
@@JoeSmith-h7k have a sphere around the neighbor and check if the player is overlapping it, and if he is, have the neighbor switch animations in the blendspace
banana peels themselves don't work for some reason. the only way to get the neighbor to slip is by using a banana while he's chasing you, which also causes you to slip. like i said, pretty broken lol
Neigbor can check under the bed at left and right at the bed, great detail! This game will be great i think. I'm just thinking about, what if Neighbor will can eat and watch TV, or turn on TV when he wash the floor/flowers in room with TV for example? Or he took not only toolbox, but radio also, and he will be listening radio when he repair tbe car? Different combinations of tasks, how for you this idea? And what about bulbs with different lighting? White, red, green, the HOLY color of light in the bulb? Or this will be when you finish work with all lighting? This is very cool idea, I remember that in Prototype was bulbs with yellow, white lighting in different rooms. I remember blue lighting in kitchen from Alpha 3. And in original Pre-Alpha light is not like yellow, it's like yellow-green-orange.
6:43 There I am Gary, there I am!
i love hnhs man
Achivement unlocked: yes, im am the real garry
You should make it so if you trigger the car's alarm too many times, the neighbor will park it in the garage.

the lighting needs work in some areas but I love how you brought back a lot of cut features and lesser known details the pre alpha had. Cool fangame!
I think a sunset and the ability for the Neighbour's AI to pick stuff up that you throw at him and throw it back at you would be awesome
When the neighbor is near, you should add a heartbeat effect when he is near! it would be very good
I am absolutely ecstatic and looking forward to release! One thing I will say is that I feel like the lighting is a bit off from where it was during the Kickstarter Pre-Alpha, not a deal breaker by any means but just something that I would love to see a Hello Neighbor fangame nail.
watched your HNHS videos (pls play all arcade level, also when the prototype level is fixed in new patch sometime soon, pls play that too) good videos

i am definitly downloading this when it comes out
and make sure that the neighbor can shorten the path and knock out the window with a chair

@@cooper249 yep!
Will you add the ability to look through keyholes like in alpha 1.5/2?
honestly i wasn't planning to, but i might look into it

like have them glance at random props that he's next to
will you add other floors?
Yes!!!!
