I have more ideas: if you click e on a toilet it will flush and the neighbor will run to the bathroom. Another idle task: make him clean stuff like tables, and drawers. Make the neighbor hear your mic cuz why not. and the last one: if you get caught alot in the same area and theres a closet there, theres a chance the neighbor will be in there and then jump out at you.
I think I had one idea while playing another fangame. What if you could fill a kettle with water and put it on the stove? The problem with certain distractions in my opinion is that they aren't timed, meaning you have to be *at* the distraction when it starts doing the distraction. Why would I use the radio if I could get the alarm clock and set a timer for it to go off at the front door while I am at the back? You know? The kettle would take some time to warm up and start whistling, which could also be a new neighbor interaction come to think of it so you know where he is.
You have no idea how happy it makes me seeing the progress you've made in just a few months. I set out to give people the basic building blocks of a Hello Neighbor fan game with my template, and let people build off of it and call it their own. And you're doing exactly that! I can imagine you adding a bunch more unique mechanics and systems in the future! Keep at it, you're doing great so far.
- LIST OF AMAZING IDEAS - 1 ) Make it so that if you crouch behind the arm chairs in the lounge room, he won't see you. 2) If the neighbor drinks from the same bottle 3 times, he crumbles it, goes out to his trash stash and throws it. 3) Make it so you can flush the toilet, and when you do so, he does the alpha 2 cutscene animation of checking behind and runs to the bathroom to check. 3) If you turn the sink on it can alert the neighbour. 4) He can wash his hands, sit on the dining table, and use the microwave. 5) In the pre alpha, if you get caught too many times the neighbour can actually make walls using objects like boxes, trash cans, vases and chairs. 6) Make it so if you make a custom wall barricade, he can replace the objects position like the pre alpha 7) Make it so for the window that looks through the TV area, if you throw a tomato, he will first take a chair and put it near the window and then take the broom and bucket and stand on the chair and clean it. 8) Add a task where he inspects a painting. 9) Make a new task where he takes a binocular, and look through the window of the TV area like the banner of the Pre Alpha. 10 ) Make it so if you turn on the microwave, he goes and checks the area. 11) Make a vase that breaks if you throw it, and alert the neighbor. 12) Make it so that if the neighbor passes by you without seeing you, there will be the pass by sound from the prototype. 13) Make it so if you remove a bulb/ turn off the light / add a dead bulb and the room is dark, the neighbour can't see you, he can only see you if your too close to him in the dark and you go in the dark room while he's chasing you. 14) Make it so the neighbour can slip on banana peels like Alpha 1. 15) If you flicker the flashlight light on the neighbours face, it blinds him and makes him go in one straight line while he plays the HN1 animation of the neighbour being hit by an item. 16) If you break a window, distract him or throw a tomato on his window and go back to your house and he sees you, he will get angry and do the unused idle standing animation from the TinyBuild AI Rundown video 17) If you replace his bulb with a red or green bulb, he gets a chair, puts it under the bulb, stands on it and breaks it using the animation of the prototype breaking bulb cutscene. 18) If you throw the plate, it will break and alert him just like the vase. 19) Make it so that if the neighbour feels to replace the hammer or keys position, he takes it and uses the hammer dropping animation from the prototype cutscene. 20) Make a tutorial like Alpha 1. 21) Make it so that if the neighbour is in his stage where he makes walls using objects, there's a chance he's missing some objects so he goes outside and takes a trash can to place it at his barricade wall. 22) Make it so the neighbour can use the toilet like Alpha 2 23) Make it so if any object drops or you throw any item, the neighbor goes there but only if he's close (just like the pre alpha), whereas the vase and plates can alert him from far away but not if you are at your house. 24) Add a day night cycle. 25 ) Make a new task where the neighbour uses his lawnmower. 26) Make it so if you throw an item or have a lawnmower hit his car, it will beep alerting the neighbour to come and check near his car. 27) Make it so the neighbour can break windows himself using objects. 28) Make it so you can break flower pots like the vase and plates. 29) Make it so that when the neighbour uses the sink while the ultra violet light is near the sink, he turns it on to use the sink just like the pre alpha. 30 ) Make it so the neighbour can use the bathtub, also if you turn it on, it alerts him and makes him check. 31) Places where the neighbour can feel to replace the position of the basement key, hammer or ultra violet light I ) In the toilet II) Anywhere in the garage III) On top of the boiler IV) On the chair beside his couch V) On top of the TV in the lounge or living room VI) Behind the arm chairs in the lounge room VII) In the kitchen sink. This looks cool! It’d be great to bring back the MC's hand when holding items, but less in the player’s face. I'd say it would fit because Hello Neighbor tried to give the protagonist an identity, unlike most Mascot Horror's which either tease or make them blank (I know, a positive in Hello Neighbor, crazy). Just a suggestion, obviously a simple addition like this wouldn't make the game 12000x better, do whatever you think is right
Yo man. For the boiler, you should make it so that when you use it, it distracts the neighbor and makes him come there and he changes the temperature back.
This is super impressive for a first game, and only being made in around two months too is insane, even with help, you should be really proud! I also have a few ideas for the game you might want to think about, probably would be pretty hard to implement but still some cool ideas, like the neighbor being able to see objects missing or broken, lights being on or off that weren't before, the player's footsteps, doors being open, doors being closed near him, boards on windows being taken down, stuff like that. I'd also really like to see the unused pre alpha neighbor mecanecs, like him being able to hear things being thrown or moved loudly, any locks on the basement door being unlocked near him, and the object traps he sets up in hallways you go in a lot. I know that's a lot to think about, but you really don't need to add any of it in if you don't want to, do whatever you want its your fangame, just giving some suggestions. uh anyway looks super cool great job!

Looks kinda similiar to that one hello neighbor pre alpha remake game, Btw someone is remaking alpha 1 you should try it out it looks like an 1:1 recreation and still captures that "magic vibe" that the offical old hello neighbor builds had.
This is shaping to be incredible! Though I’m not sure on the box placing down sfx because it’s really only meant to play when the box is placed on plates. Just a thought that maybe it doesn’t play a noise unless that happens? That’d be cool
Im a HUGE fan of the pre-alpha and seeing this mod makes me excited for its future i like the outdoors ambience alot it makes the house feel isolated and the switch from the loud streets to the quiet and mysterious ambience combined with the neighbors footsteps makes the exprience even scarier i have high hopes for this project

Tbh I think that should only be the case for the front, back, and garage doors. I'm sure most people wouldn't really care if random doors around their house were open or not

i just use a box collision that enables whenever the player is hidden inside the wardrobe with both doors closed. then it checks to see if the neighbor overlaps it, and if he does, it plays the sound

no education whatsoever. im a highschool graduate and i managed to get into it. it just takes practice and a lot of patience. and tutorials in my case, lol
also do u know where ur going with the story/lore?? or are u still in process of making that?? because it would be so awesome if there was cut scenes and stuff , i feel like cut scenes was what was missing from the game from the very start , the lack of story explaining was so upsetting. having a cut scene of the player (nicky) move into raven brooks , interact with the neighbors son (aaron) exactly like the book , that small of a cut scene would have literally explained everything. a 1 minute thing , its so disappointing everything is tbh 😭 the potentials wasted despite everything else
@@MyEditionOfficialChannel its a long process and i made it in the most inefficient way possible. i seperated the model into 3 parts, and whenever i interact with the latch it rotates, then moves, then rotates again. and then for closing it does that just in reverse. and then there's just a variable checking if the latch is closed or not the way you're supposed to do it is with a skeletal mesh but i admit i couldn't figure that out

i use box collisions on either side of the door and he plays the right animation depending on the side he's on, and once he finishes overlapping the box collisions the door closes
