  • GM is hosting a series of training events across the country to make sure first responders know how to deal with battery electric vehicles when they're involved in a crash. General Motors' EV First Responders Training Program is designed to give firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians and even towing operators and salvage yards important information so they can safely interact with EVs that have been involved in an accident. This includes both in-classroom lessons and, perhaps more importantly, hands-on training, too.

Evening, great video and learning stages for First Responders. I have been with Fire Departments in the past (in the 80's) and now a now for over 6 years I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter. I have gone through many extrication classes over the years, with so many new Techniques and ideas on using, our proper gear, BUT now with EV on the road and taking additional classes, I sure hoping someone would come out with an APP to identify a vehicle before coming on scene, until i heard you mentioned, about the APP What would it take for me to receive this APP or to download this for future use on vehicles on our road today...I'm 62 years old still fighting fires, saving lives, and property the best we can. This APP will definitely assist with power location to keep our team safe in every way Possible... Thank you and hope to hear from your team soon

That sounds like a great program. Wonder if these programs are also offered free to racetrack safety personnel given the rise in EVs at HPDE and similar events. Often tracks have very limited budgets so free would be good.

I prefer my electric vehicles like I prefer my clothing, sourced in third world countries by little children. There is nothing better than looking in a third world country and seeing these massive holes in the ground from lithium mining. Of course we don't experience that in America because that's just wrong, but we don't mind shipping it in from another country that we destroyed. I remember when the Afghanistan papers were released. They were discussing the war in afghanistan. I can't remember the guy's name but he stated "there is about 4 trillion dollars worth of lithium underground".. 20 years later we leave and source our lithium from some other country. In fact you can follow Elon musk's tweets regarding United States military intervening in another country. Elon gets excited because now he can source lithium from that third world country.
