  • Dating in high school was rough, I got cheated on at church camp and we had alot of bad dates and awkward moments. In episode 10 of Sierra Unfiltered, we're telling stories about our dating history and boyfriends in high school. We're happily married now and had amazing weddings, but reminiscing about the bad times of being single can be pretty funny.

    Hello all,
    For everyone looking for the last few minutes of this podcast, I just confirmed that all the audio versions found in the description play to the end.
    As for the people like me who prefer to watch Sierra Unfiltered on RUclips, Sierra is aware that the ending section got cut off and is in the process of reuploading. This may take a while due to a very exciting podcast Sierra and Skylar are filming today! In the meantime, if you choose to wait, feel free to catch up on any of the other podcasts on this channel that you might have missed or check out Sierra's main channel for more great content!
    Also, anyone watching on youtube won't get this but here is the link for Sierra's "How I Get Cheap Broadway Show Tickets" Vlog video ruclips.net/video/vEt7SPjIEd0/видео.html

    Omg so true about baby boomers who film, and take pictures, and post EVERYTHING. I was my best friend’s maid of honor at her wedding this past weekend and despite the huge sign and the officiant asking that no one film or take pictures during the ceremony there were two people who literally filmed THE ENTIRE WEDDING. And it was so rude and they were baby boomers and I honestly couldn’t believe that they did it.

    i completely agree with w skylar on horror things, especially TV shows and movies, its so weird and horrifying to me to see and think about these horrible things that are happening to humans in front of my eyes...and then i start thinking about how the person who thought of this scene who wrote it and proofed it envisioned it,... how their brain got there etc... i dunno it just really starts to freak me out when i think deeper into it. when my boyfriend lived with previous roommates they were obsessed with horror films and shows, that would consistently show people being horribly murdered or worse and i couldn't even be in the same room when they watched the stuff. they watched them basically every night or they would do multiple-episode binges of shows horror and psychically deranged minds and his roommate would seem completely unaffected by it, desensitized .. .but me just hear to the screams of the movie from the other room freaks me out! it just can't be healthy or right from the human brain to consistently be taking in those sounds, detailed planned situations, and visuals.
    I would love an episode of the podcast with your dad talking about horror and kinda like he how did w you,sierra

    Coming from a former military spouse, I absolutely hate the people that throw it in your face that you chose this life. My spouse chose to possibly give up his life for this country and I’m trying to support him and it’s OK if you complain about it. Those are negative people that you don’t need around. You’re feelings are VALID.

Thank you guys for your service ❤️

    I hate horror, why would I pay to be scared at best, traumatised at worst. Watching people being hacked to death, jump scares etc does not appeal to me at all. Murder mysteries and psychological thrillers are fine, like The Others, Sixth Sense, but I have never seen anything with gratuitous violence, so have never watched a Tarantino film. Coraline was so scary, and I watched it in my 30’s

  • @valerieannsmiles
    @valerieannsmiles 5 лет назад +1

    I love spooky! I love the adrenaline rush of being scared, I LOVE true crime and ghost hunting shows and shows on travel channel during Halloween about famous haunted places. Found the chapel my mom got married in on one of those channels and my uncle was pictured in the same spot a nun died (not knowing at the time of course) and it’s just fascinating. I love knowing the history. I’ve slept on the queen mary multiple times, done all the tours including the Halloween maze one you talked about. Idk of its because I’ve had a not-so-happy upbringing, or that mental illness has shaped me a little more in the dark (not saying this is true for everyone but it is for me)
    BUT I don’t do gore. It’s excessive and too much and I can’t. No thank you. To me that’s not scary, it’s just gross.

    For skylars hot take, I completely agree with what she said. I don’t watch horror because I don’t enjoy it at all. I watched it at times because either with a guy, with family, or with friends. I don’t understand how people enjoy being scared or get pleasure from going to horror events. Your hot take is great!

  • @zoey.dreamweaver
    @zoey.dreamweaver 4 года назад

    Regarding the horror thing I heard someone say once that going to horror events is the ultimate form of privilege because you are choosing to experience horror and panic when so many people on this plant experience horror and fear in their everyday life just because of circumstances beyond their control. So I totally agree with you Skylar horror entertainment is a bit of an insane concept (although I do love me a good retro 90s horror movie on Halloween)

My mom is huge into posting every little life event onto facebook, she definitely isn't as bad as family friends we know that reshare about 50 posts/memes a day and make posts about very insignificant things. my mom is more so the type that likes to post things my sister and I are up to, but like when we were both in high school im sure no one cared about seeing pictures of every single football game we performed and cheered at. when on family vacations, my mom will continuously take photos of my sister and I when we specifically express that we don't want our photo taken (because we know she will post it online and we may not be looking/feeling the best) but she took it as just "moody teenagers" and would keep taking photos, even when we would be pouting and clearly not looking happy! she would say things like i paid for this vacation so you better smile for the camera, and it would take away from the actual moments of being on vacation and enjoying where you were at, and would sometimes even lead to arguments and my sister and I being put in a bad mood. I am certainly one to take pictures while on vacation so that I can choose a few to post on instagram throughout the week, but I only take pictures in certain moments, certain places, and sometimes not even every day! I don't feel the need to post 30+ pictures from every single day of the trip and make a post every night. this past summer I traveled around Europe for 2 weeks with my boyfriend, and on the 2nd day of the trip my mom texts me saying my grandma is "looking for some pics" of me on the trip. we had only had a half day in london the previous day due to traveling, didn't take any pictures of myself that day or pictures i would deem worth posting to instagram because of course we were exhausted from our oversea flights. I was annoyed that while I am enjoying my vacation and taking in these moments, that people back home sitting on their phones and ipads are bothering me to post a picture. I responded saying that I will post a picture when I want to and when I feel like it, this is my vacation after all. why are older generations so obsessed with seeing post immediately and sharing everything? isn't that how millennials and gen z is described yet I do not feel the need to update everyone about every "event" i do in my life or make a post every single day I am on vacation with 30+ photos attached! I had my first day of my senior year of college the other day, and my mom texted me 5 separate times practically begging me for a "first day of school" photo and claiming that she NEEDEDDDDD it. I 100% know her intentions would just be to post it on facebook and that the photo isn't really for just her, it would be something put up on the internet for who knows who to see. I had my reasons for not sending one to her, with still having to get ready for class, barely having enough time to even eat before I left, it being 90 and extremely humid out to the point I was sweating buckets, and no one around to even take a picture of me even if I wanted one. I love my mom and other members of my family, but these past few years have really gotten ridiculous with how often they feel the need to post something, especially the "facebook moms" of the world who want to post every life moment of their kids online, even if their kids do not want those moments posted or shared. I get feeling proud of your kids and wanting to document special moments, but does every moment really need to be shared with everyone? are you capable of putting down your phone?

    Both of my daughters were sports kids, but my husband and I were not. They tried music and dance, too. One gravitated to soccer and guitar. The other gravitated to softball and violin. They both also tried gymnastics.

    This is making me feel like I’m old and SO behind on the curve, then I remembered that obviously they started early- they both got married in their early 20s and that is definitely not my path to take!

    That’s so frustrating about the theatre teacher/director at suburbia high. I direct the play at the small school I work at and I try really hard to make sure that kids can be athletes and in drama - I want to promote that is no divide. 🙌 anyway, loved here all of your high school stories, so fun, and funny 😂

    As someone who doesn't feel strong emotions (cry in romance or sad or disney movies) scary movies evoke emotion in me. I enjoy feeling something during movies, which is why I like being scared.
    Hope that gives you a perspective.

    No way Halloween and being scared is so much fun! You just have to not take it too seriously and go with the right people. I go to Halloween Haunt with my bf every year and it's really fun to grab some beers, get jump scared and have someone to grab onto. We always leave the mazes laughing :) not for everyone though! Although I will agree.. Coraline definitely scared the crap out of me as a kid and is still pretty scary now 😅
