It's now June 2020 and just bought one 2nd hand, like brand new only 7k clicks... highly capable camera in the right hands, looking forward to using it for many years to come.
I just copied all your settings. Haha I am new to photography. I just got this camera and am trying to figure out how to use it. The last canon I had was the rebel t2i and that was like 7 years ago so having to relearn everything!
Great video, thank you. I do want to know what is the purpose of the blue flashing light just above and to right of the menu button? Is it a wifi or wireless printer connection indicator or….?
Can someone plz clarify one thing for me. I know this is a solid camera and I love it for still photography in manual mode. However when I shoot family sessions or events I find that I don’t know where or what focus points to use to make every person sharp. I understand increasing aperture will help but I guess my question is should I stick to just manually selecting the center most point instead of letting it auto select? And where do I focus that point on to make sure other ppl in the photo are also in focus?
I haven’t actually used this camera for years, but from memory I used to use the center focus point and focus recompose. It wasn’t bad, in low light it could struggle, I used to have a flash that shot out a laser grid which helped the camera obtain focus on low light
@@nathan_woodgate what are you using now. To be honest I have other cameras more modern. But to be honest shooting with strobes and OCF modifiers. There is no better camera than this. It looks amazing like film. I hate focus and recompose I’m spoiled now.
@@sols9449 I don’t shoot weddings anymore, I moved over to Fuji and then Sony before giving it up. I now just shoot for fun with a Leica M240 and an M5 and M4👍🏼
Well explained mate. Brilliant to go through all the detail of my camera. I'm in the market for a D3. But for now the D2 is brill. I have watched the D3 vid, which was also a great explanation of how it works. Further I'd like to watch a few more videos of your weddings, particularly how you trouble shoot. Are there more?
Yes you can, hopefully you have some fast lenses? F1.4 for example? Try not to go above ISO3200 if not you may need to change the images to black and white in post
Thanks. Very helpful video. I want to ask you that, what is that device connected with camera? From lower part of it. What is feature of that device? Please reply
Hey always try to get group photos in lowest iso..While going for high iso the pixels ll break.. Adjust aperture and shutter speed for better lighting.. cant giv u a fixed setting unless u mention at what lighting u r taking pics
Hey if you have the time to adjust your white balance in camera during a fast paced wedding go ahead. Every picture is post processed anyway, that's why you shoot RAW, WB is just a one click adjustment in LR or Capture 1 anyway
I'm trying to switch my new 5D Mark II from single shooting to continuous shooting and I can't seem to find out where to do it. Can anyone be of assistance?
+Henry Gentles Hi Henry, you can only set HSS in the flash menu when you have a compatible HSS flash. If you are using a flash that does not support HSS then you will not have this option in the flash menu.
First, there are some terminology issues here. First, 1.4 or 4.0 are apertures, not ISO. ISO is the sensitivity of the "film" (i.e. the sensor in a digital camera). Also, when you say "minimum" aperture, you actually mean maximum. Because the lower the f-stop number is, the MORE wide open the aperture is. Now to your issue. Are you using a zoom lens or a prime (non-zoom) lens? Some zoom lenses can't achieve their maximum aperture at all zoom levels. For example, I had a Canon EF‑S lens that was 10‑22mm f/3.5‑4.5. This means that at 10mm, you can get a maximum aperture of f/3.5, but zoomed all the way in to 22mm you can only get a maximum aperture of F/4.5. If you're using a zoom lens, try zooming all the way out and then turning the scroll wheel on the back of the camera to the left to see if the aperture will go any lower. If you're on full manual mode and zoomed all the way out, and the lens will still not go to the maximum aperture stated, then there may be a communication issue between your camera and lens.
+Nathan Lucas Why would we use cheap zooms with variable apertures? We are professional photographers!!! Glad you paid attention to the video and picked up our mistakes🙄

Try to nail the center most subject’s eye. I would use the top center point.
You did not mention the ISO as a separate matter, I see you had your camera on 800 - is that your default in a church setting?
How does the af perform at a wedding. I know it’s an older camera but it’s a good value. Just curious how compares to the expensive cameras of today

Photography & Design its a battery grip. Better battery life combined with a nice grip for holding it vertically
I set my camera up as you described and now in manual mode, with decent indoor light and no flash, my pictures are dark. Any thoughts?
The setup is for flash so you will need to change to aperture or shutter priority
@@nathan_woodgate can’t seem to figure out where to change it. Some help would be appreciated.
Big dial that says M Av Tv etc? Sorry sold these cameras years ago

Whitebalance to auto on a wedding? Do you fix in later in the RAW? Bit time consuming, isn't it?

How to change ISO to 1.4 as on every mode it goes minimum to 4.0 but my lens is a 1.4F lens.
