Your perseverance on this project is so admirable. I would be way too afraid to take on doing that veneer work. You are a boss lady! It is so cool, you always make the most unique pieces and they are lovely. Beautiful makeover!
Oh, WOW! It sure is a swan now! I had some serious doubts about this piece at first. It was so damaged! You put a lot of love into this, and it shows! ❤❤❤❤
I honestly like the before as an MCM person, but the after is such a cool fusion of styles. It has such an awesome retro futuristic vibe to it and I picked up a few veneer tips which is always appreciated. Love it ❤
Great job on this video Missflips! You really Assembled that board really well! Painting it and assembling the wood! I think the end result turned out great! 😊 keep up the goodwork with your DIY Videos! 😊
Darn it, I accidentally watched you, and I’m a little obsessed. I’m an interior designer that is restoring my 1895 home. I was trying to find a stripper that actually worked. Well, I just have to say, you can rock out a piece. I just wanted you to know you’re very talented. Hopefully, I won’t watch too many of your videos. I have work to do. Lol Good luck to you.
Have you ever thought of using a sanding sponge for the hand sanding parts? When it wears down, you can wrap new sandpaper around it and keep using it. It saves my hand when I use it. I just wondered if the single piece of sandpaper is a conscious choice for any particular reason.
I always enjoy your videos, however, I must say a couple things (constructive criticisms). 1) I was glad your chisel didn’t slip and sever your femoral artery as you would have likely quickly bled out. 2) There are numerous ways to properly sharpen a plane iron. A bench grinder is not one of them. I would recommend that you watch some RUclips tutorials on sharpening wood working tools. 😁
This was the ugliest Coffee table I ever sow in my life, with all the challenges you face on the way, its looks like it doesn't wanna flip, its telling you leave alone I wanna stay ugly, but as usual with your magic, it turns great, with your great spirit
Really came out gorgeous, I always have the same crap happen to me when working on projects, I think it will always be there no matter what you work on. A really dumb question, I have never worked with vaneer, can you cut it with your saw?
I loved the distinct detail of this table. What a unique find. I admire your gusto in putting on the beautiful veneer! The project turned out awesome! ❤ I really appreciate the time and energy you put into the project. I personally would have NEVER been able to do the final diamond pattern! 😂 I would have probably veneered it and moved on 😂! Or taken the easy way out and painted it! A really great job and I subscribed! Where did you get the roller knee pads? My husband rehabs homes and could really use a pair! Thanks!

Fine, If You have an Alley next to Your Lounger in Your Home! I would have Loved to know More about the Piece. How old it was, Who Made it and What was that Surface Actually Made of. First Time Viewer. 😇
Haha I can see that for sure!! It doesn’t have much to say honestly. No makers mark or anything. It’s made of cheap wood and what I’m almost certain is some sort of Lacquer finish
Wow that was a ton of work! I’ve been considering doing a veneer project. I will totally watch out for that cement/adhesive 3:55 issue. I’ve done Formica countertops and when those two surfaces meet it’s a done deal. Nothing like your experience. Nicely done!
@@TheMissFlips - no I can’t figure it out! That cement we used was so tacky. We painted it on both surfaces - let it dry. We used those old plastic blinds between the surfaces and when we were aligned we started pulling them out. I felt bad for you that you had to rework it - what a pain.
@@TheMissFlips no I don’t know about the brand it was over 20 years ago - but that contact cement stuff is crazy strong so I don’t know what happened with yours. I know I won’t be buying the brand you have 😞
Actually, an acceptable way to plane a straight edge on veneer is to use a proper length plane (such a n°5 - not Chanel's 😋 - ) 😅 The boards are still plenty useful to prevent the veneer from flexing while planing, and clamping them sets your hand free 👍

I tried to for the majority of it, but it’s challenging when you get to the edges where the pieces meet. Didn’t seem to make all that much of a difference in the end

When I've seen that particular sanding trick the driver is usually mounted to a surface somehow. Then you can use both hands to hold the sandpaper.
Oooh smart!
