In today’s update, iRacing’s release notes say the M4 interior sounds have been “significantly improved.” How about doing a GT4 race in the M4 so that we can hear it, Dave?
This looks to be the season of the GT4s! There's also a dedicated BMW GT4 series and the old one went to PCC. Nobody is going to have any time left over to do Porsche Cup anymore.
@@fommil the BMW GT4 (the old one) was the car I started my iRacing journey in after rookies, in the BMW 12 min challenge, but then I switched to the cayman GT4 and then the GT3 cars. Today I did 2 races in the PCC just to drive the old BMW again, and it was the most fun I had in ages in iRacing. That thing in the rain is really nice.
iRacing interior sound in general needs a bit more punch in the lower mid-range and low frequency range. Almost every car seems to have this same chopped off/compressed EQ to me.
You’re the 3rd or 4th person I’ve seen say this and the more I watch onboards of real cars, the more I think this is true. The sound feels like it’s missing something and something is the power that more bass gives you.
Even in the LMP2 car, I think it sounds anemic and doesn’t give that much of a sense of how loud and powerful that car is. IRL it seems super loud in the inside.
@@fommilsomething that would make it better I think is this: when you shift gears IRL in a sequential transmission car, the engine sounds like it’s shaking a bit. I’ve always wondered why that happens.
Yep. Generally turbos eat their own sounds. So they’re quieter. And I suppose if you’re doing an endurance race maybe the lack of too much internal volume might be a blessing.
Mate you must be deaf then😂😂 I went to Interlagos, 6 hours of São Paulo, the McLaren is flippin loud, so is the Lexus, Aston, Lambo, tbh all cars are loud apart from the 911

Happened once with some car. Mustang/Chevy least driven cars last season. I think there's possibility that old mclaren gt3 was driven more times than those two.
That hasn't really been the result the last few releases. the Mustang was not great. Corvette very track specific and the Audi was good but wasn't massively above everything else
They are pretty quiet in real life, saw them at Donington this weekend for the British GT and its pretty close, what I will say is that the teams have multiple exhausts they can use at different tracks for noise limits, so depends which exhaust iracing recorded.
Hi Dave, thanks for the great video as always - I bought it last night and did just a handful of laps at Road America. I loved it and can see where you're coming from comparing it to the ferrari; the only thing I found was I needed to be a little less agressive on the throttle exiting corners, whether this is due to the oversteer you mention or my big yellow right boot I'm unsure, as my skill level is not very high 😅
I was at Barber for FGTWCA this weekend and got to hear the McLaren GT4. I was surprised by how quiet some of the cars are irl. Loved the sound of the Corvette GT3, proper sound 👌

Yeah, sure. James Baldwin raced this car He did a review of it and was very disappointed by the iracing sound. He even played a bit of onboard footage, and even though it's just a recording with a bad camera mic, it sounds better than iRacing on headphones.

Just read the patch notes from yesterday and iRacing apparently improved the sound of this car. It says: improved in-car engine sound and added new transmission and drive train sounds.
The engine definitely sounds meaner in ACC inside the cockpit - was hoping for more character from the internal sound capture (even blending some of the external sound in). I hope iRacing makes some tweaks to the sound this season after your first thoughts, because many drivers will agree
I fortunate to work on the 720s GT3 among other sports cars (p2/p3) and Dave is correct in the sound is lacking a sort of "depth' for lack of a better word

It’s not that it needs to be more loud, but they have pushed the wrong frequencies in the mix. Everything sounds higher pitched than it should be. There are no mid-low frequencies.

Idk why everyone is complaining about the sound, probably are the same people who are comparing with ACC and not with real life, i went to a real race and i have a video on my channel, the real car sounds meh, how the sim is supposed to sound better?
I drove it today and Im not pleased with the way is sounds and it drives like Ferrari 296 mixed with Audi. Im not impressed with handling
It sounds EXACTLY like the real car. If you want exaggeration go drive another sim.
No it doesn't. There is a real 720S driver here on youtube (James Baldwin) and he also was disappointed with the sound. He even shared a bit of onboard footage to compare it, and the car sounds much better in real life, even with the bad microphone it was recorded with. Besides, iRacing improved the sound of this car with the patch yesterday: "improved in-car engine sound and added transmission and drive train sounds". Clown.
You have no idea who you’re talking to. No need to be rude fella! I facilitate the recording of the actual Pfaff McLaren with very high end gear. The gear does not lie, can’t say the same for a GoPro. I know what it sounds like and the patch yesterday addressed a few minor updates and tranny whine.
@@greghill6117does it sound different? I've not yet tried it
@@greghill6117 Cut down on the edge and grow up fella 🤡
@@davecamyt I think that was directed to me. Yeah, it sounds a bit more "throaty and guttural" now if this makes any sense.. Much more like the on board recordings I've heard from the real car, but still not quite there yet. Better that the tamed and synthetic/empty sound it had before, that's for sure.
Gee, another iRacing car that sounds pi55weak and not like a proper racecar engine... why am i not surprised lol
If you've listened to the real car, it's anything but throaty, it sounds awful in real life as well.
