As a 60+ year older this cover reduced me to nostalgic plasma. I was around when this song came out so seeing it played so well really hit me on an emotional level. I know I sound like an old man yelling about how things were better back in my day but I’m sorry, music really was better back then. Just sayin, just listen…
my gosh thats unbelievable. it is unreal how much guitar playing skynyrd put into their music, the rhythm, the picking in the background, and the lead.. unbelievable, you dont realize how much playing is involved until you attempt it or watch someone, thats not easy stuff to play at all
AGREED....amazing the milage they got outta minor pentatonic!!!....and you dont realize how difficult this stuff is till you try to learn it...not to mention pulling it off live!!!!
Dude my mouth dropped and I had to rewind this 3 times and re-watch it...I can not believe the guitar changes and how neat this sounded, Allen, that tall guitarist in Lynard who wrote this is one of the most underrated guitarist. I mean the critics refused to chart this song, and place songs like Shake Shake Shake your booty over it, but as for the test of time, we see how the critics where fools and cowards....Man Lynard Skynard music is from the heart and soul. It never gets old because it is not radio station readily produced and that is how our new country is going to be like....Like the Shake Shake Shake, your booty looks like now..... Jason Aldean and a few others can and will escape it, but the other 99 percent is doomed as cowards....of country cheese...... that will be laughed at in the future....you just watch.. I mean can you imagine how stupid these rap country song are going to sound .. This sound is not from the soul. It is from the same type of person that voted this Smell single to not be entered into the top 40 countdown, and now we have to dance boogie with weak one minute written country songs with no sweat written in it.......
Damn you mastered the 3 very differents guitar styles.... Steve Gaines part is really hard to play. But my personnal favorite is Gary's part. Same swag buddy. You rock
Totally agree Reid, you really tore all 3 lead players parts right up and as note per note as you could ask for. Just a tad bit less gain though, new sub, great job!
As a full time musician who plays lead/rhythm guitar, this Lynard Skynard song is one of the best rock guitar songs ever. The person playing this guitar cover is an outstanding guitar player. Great job !!!
One will never get to this level of playing without understanding your scales .... I went years playing mostly by friends teaching me and then me playing by myself... and I got good in my cord progressions that I knew and were comfortable with... and it wasn’t for probably 15 years that I learned the different scales and the cord progressions in the scales and then a light bulb went off.. and I suddenly began to play lead... it was a breakthrough that really blew my mind and almost overnight I became 10 x the guitar player that I was... it’s so much fun
I learned a crap load of those songs buy ear when those skynyrd came out. Molly Hatchet and ZZ top as well. Played them pretty well live. we never had youtube lessons back then. Piecing parts together so i can pull it off with one or 2 guitars.
Wow. That, my friends, is what we [RUclips guitar cover] connoisseurs like to call a true "note-for-note" cover. Extremely well-done! One day I'll be able to play it all....one day....haha
Thank you so much for just playing the song. It took me ten minutes to find somebody who claimed to be playing the song and actually did so. Everybody else is like “watch me solo over this song!”
I never ever realized the MASTER PIECE of Guitar Chords that went into this song! Man you highlighted and pointing this out for us with your playing "1M2R" I mean!, my mouth dropped and I had to rewind this 3 times and re-watch it!...I could and still can not believe the guitar changes and how neat this sounded, Sooo Sad to say that this was the very untouchable, masterful level of amazement that Lynyrd was only about to start writing in.......until........they lost Ronnie and Steve / his little sister Cassie. What I know about this song: Ronnie got Allen their tall guitarist to write up a sound so they could have a song to give to Gary for being out of line (at that time) which was a car crash that stalled their tour. And oh boy buddy, Allen if you can hear me from the Great Divine, I wanted to say that you certainly belted this one out.... In fact you schooled other guitarist such as Eddie VanHalen. Here is the evidence: Around 1:48ish where the guitar is turned down, you can see how is a diagram form of sound that inspired the part in VanHalen's song: Panama, where Dave says: ease the seat back or the Unchain song where Dave goes: Hey look at you , you will get some leg tonight for sure... Show us how you do.... Man! Lynyrd Skynyrd music is a machine, a Big Machine at that and will never get old, and hopefully not fad, especially to this new junk stuff that someone has the audacity to call as music....WTF.
I like the tap at the beginning. As a player of 40 years now. I never thought of that. - I cracked up. Funny, KINDA TOP Secret type stuff AND -- actually, ......Brilliant. Thanks. - JMc - Ohio.
Well done! I've been looking for a full-length cover and you absolutely nail it. Lots of A minor pent but a few surprises thrown in there as well. Looking forward to getting home and giving it a go.
Wow! Nicely done, sir! I can't believe some dudes are critiquing your playing. If they heard me try to play that they'd stab their own eardrums with a knitting needle.
awesome man. big props big props to ya. I dunno how long you been playin, but either way I know for SURE that's not an easy song to play at all, so good job man good job. I play drums have been since I was 11 and I'm 30 now, I can mess around a little on the guitar here and there and I've always fuckin dreamed of be in able to play this song on the guitar...even if I could just bust out a little bit of it I'd be happy man. how long did it take you to learn might I ask? Learn by ear or literally learned the sheet music? either way great job man I love it. I'm a watch it again lol .
Hey man I'm trying to learn the little hammer off riffs you do after the main chords is it possible to get a tab of those that you play? Anyways great job this sounds amazing man.

2:27 didn't think you were going to be able to jam that, but you killed it man ! Great job
Reid Buckner if he had the money to buy Steve Vai Jem, he should be able to do it

Nice IKEA Malm in the background, has not been mentioned by all the comments at all. Fantastic playing btw!
I don’t care for the tone but I thought the playing was pretty spot on. Hard song to pull off.
He's killing it on that Ibanaz! Rock on guys!!!!
