      I mean for the record version which this cover is based on Jimi did not sing and play at the same time. In fact they recorded most of the song separately. Hendrix overdubbed the different guitar parts several times. Basically erasing the original recording. Pissed off the bass player so Hendrix overdubbed that too with himself playing the bass. Seemed like a nightmare to record this song surprised it turned out so well in the end. They had 16 tracks to mix together by the end!

      You gotta look at the ratio. He got 98K likes so that’s 1 dislike for every 98 people. 1% disapproval isn’t that bad! Why would anyone dislike this video? Because there’s always naysayers. Some people are too critical with bullshit like “That’s not EXACTLY like the way Jimi played it!” And then there are people who play electric guitar who’s not into these music, and then there are people who just push dislike just because they don’t want to conform with the popular opinion (ie no good reason)
      Anyways, I loved this video. Wonderfully played! I wish I had this guy’s talent.

    • @matthewpalmer4081
      @matthewpalmer4081 3 года назад +2

      I personally didn't dislike the video but I think they disliked it because he is play the chords out of sequence on his acoustic and in the wrong area, if you pay attention he starts with an A minor power chord, and then switches to the G, then back to the A minor, then to the what should be an F power chord but he plays it a fret up where a B power chord is.
      The sequence that it's played in goes G, A minor, G, F power chord, that's how I play it on my acoustic and it sounds in line with the track, so a possible explanation for the dislikes is that he put the track over the video and muted what he played.

    • @matthewpalmer4081
      @matthewpalmer4081 3 года назад +1

      Actually he plays the chords A minor, I'm pretty sure that's a B power chord, G, then back to the A minor

    What I appreciate most about this is that you're really capturing what feels like the original intent of the song. Everybody else who covers/teaches this song (particularly on RUclips) does a flat-out, balls-to-the-wall rendition of it. That's fine, but it really doesn't do the original it's due justice. This one absolutely does. It's not just about playing the right notes.

      I'm a guitar player lover,, not a player. Something about Hendrix and what you said. Now that I see so many people doing his covers on RUclips, it always impresses me that it's not so much that Hendrix was difficult to play as that his choice of notes was so brillant in a non complicated way. He's been my main man for over 50 years. RUclips has only endeared him to me more that now I can listen to him and see him play things I only imagined seeing and hearing way back in the day. And don't even talk about how interesting his life was. He packed so much into such a short time. Finally, let me say that I think Jimi had an amazing ear for music.

    It’s so inspiring to see Jimi take a Dylan folky acoustic ballad and expend it’s musical potential to create a version which is completely original to the Dylan track. A lot of people forget it was actually a Dylan song first but it ultimately became Jimi’s song. Rest in peace to the quintessential guitar god

    you son of a bitch! you know that i'm crying right now? i missed you so much! seriously! it's like i've known you for years and you just disappeared... i really thought you died or left everything behind, built a hut in the woods or something. i never thought i'd hear something new from you. and here you come, out of nowhere and release this wonderful piece of art, nailing it as usual, a song written by a wonderful poet, now nobel prize winner, performed by a legendary guitarist in '67, and you just say "an instrumental cover" and tell us your gear, like it's nothing - we don't fucking care what amps you play. you! it's you! i don't know your face, i never heard your voice. but i know your soul, man. you are wonderful. you may not understand this, but you are a legend here. i see my friends only twice a year and we allways listen to your songs, talking, smoking weed, remembering the good times - and now you are back! thank you, thank you so much! please, do not leave us again. one song per year, this is all i ask for. please! god bless you and take care

      Skankhunt 42 Nah, he shouldn't chill, lol. He has clear admiration and respect for an artist. It may sound petty to some, but this person isn't asking for more than can be handled. Also, any passionate musician(at least the ones I know) would be more than happy to play for others. Music is meant to be shared with others to bond and spread creativity. What this person described with their friendship being strengthened because of his music is exactly what artists love to hear. If the artist doesn't have the passion to post more music, then they can deny this rightfully of course though. They choose what they wish for their life. I can tell you honestly from watching this guy, that I doubt that he'll lose his love for sharing music with others.

    As others have said, the original construction of this masterpiece is laid bare before your eyes, love or hate Hendricks - few are fortunate enough to have his creativity or ability even today, but Pilky27 (whoever you are) congratulations on bringing up close the "nuts and bolts" of such an iconic guitar players work of art!

      This great performance does help illustrate the fantastic construction of the guitar in this song. An under-appreciated aspect of Jim's playing, due to Jim's mind blowing technique and sound, was how well put together and complex his music was. Who the heck is pilky27?
