Diesel is our dog and came into our life when he was a year and a half. He was surrendered to a local shelter and his ears had been cropped. We did not crop his ears… we just rescued this sweet boy and have given him his best life! Diesel is the best and we love him so much! 🐾💙🐾
Was looking for comments about ears, I was surprised no one talked about this issue.
Glad to see that as his owner you weren't part of that
I always love seeing the owners pop up in the comments! 💖 He is a gentle giant, you guys are awesome!
I was wondering about his ears and I'm so glad you clarified that you didn't crop them. Thank you for rescuing this cute giant!! 😍
You have done an absolutely wonderful job 😊 with this beautiful boy.
❤❤❤❤
I was lucky enough to have rescued a Presa who had been with a neglectful family. His name was Thor and despite his hardships he was the sweetest dog you could ask for. Good with other dogs, amazing with kids, very protective but not aggressive (just huge). A wonderful old man who really made me appreciate the breed!
Also the amount of drool that one good Presa can put out is immense.
Beautiful temperament the whole way!! Very impressive
I think Diesel has earned his photograph under the definition of "Stoic" in all dictionaries.
Very few people are cut out to handle a dog like this. Kudos to their owners.
Beautiful coat and badass looking boy.
A majestic canine and world class mulch mover 😊
WARY = suspicious
WEARY = tired
You can remember this because WARY is the same as BEWARE, as in BEWARE OF DOG.
Ahhh that's my dream dog right there! Never going to happen though, they don't exactly LOVE really big scary dogs in korea lol.
You didn't need those flowers anyway. 😂
That's right, no one can see the furry van parked on the table.
He is so sweet ❤❤❤
That is a beautiful Buddy
Who clipped his ears? If the current owners did, then you shouldn’t groom him. And if they bought him from a breeder that mutilated him this way, then shame on them. Either way, what kind of fucked us human thinks it’s OK to mutilate a dog like this?
@@KaiserSoze357humans choose to do that to themselves dogs don’t get a choice
@@KaiserSoze357 ..uh-huh .. mutilating a helpless animal is EXACTLY the same as voluntarily choosing a trivial cosmetic procedure. 🙄Genius.

ETA and using the "we all aren’t the same" is not a valid response my friend.
The current owners did not clip his ears. He was adopted from the SPCA.
What a gorgeous dog ; ;
If Scooby Doo were a Presa Canario 😄
those Scooby Snacks saved the day! 😂

In the UK they have just fully banned the XL American bulldog after a string of fatal dog attacks by the breed.
Not an xl bully

Yes but this isn’t an XL bully, two different breeds

I spent over 10 years working as a Veterinary Assistant and, although my favorites were the "big scary dogs" (Rottweiler, Bullmastiff, Dogo Argentino, etc), I remember seeing one singular Presa Canario and he was just next level. Real Fluff Around and Find Out energy lol Diesel's people definitely knew what owning a dog like this entails, and you can tell they went above and beyond. Love to see it!

Same!
A well-trained Rottweiler is usually a muscular marshmallow.
My Rottie loved going to the vet, as he got pets, attention and snacks. My vet specialised in horses, so she wasn't really scared of anything under 1000 lbs 😁
@@rockarola55I know a Rottie whose default response to meeting new people is to roll over for tummy rubs. She's just the best.
@@rockarola55I've had rotties for 30 years and they rock when properly socialized and trained.
I've got a rottie, a boerbel and a cane corso now. Love my big dogs, but definitely not for everyone.
I've rehabbed rotties that were surrendered for years as they got trendy, were indiscriminately bred and sold to people that had no clue.
Sadly, the corso is becoming trendy, with the boerbel not far behind and we will start to see the same for them. 😢
IMHO about 20% of the population should own a rottie, but the corso and boerbel it's 5%.

Oh, and don't crop. They look so cute uncropped.
Hope yours haven't had their ears cropped.
They crop their ears for dog fighting. Evil.
I have a 4 month presa pup and was showing people pics of her and one said she was looking at me like she was highly suspicious 🤣
makes sense for a guarding breed to be suspicious tbf
he was SO CONCERNED during the bath, then just over it for the blow dry and de-shedding. SO expressive! loved seeing this big guy get his day at the spa!
i can hear him thinking ‘i gotta do this but i don’t have to like it’ and then taking his frustrations out on the garden
Right! 😂 He's in the blow dryer like why is this happening
He might be a tough big guard dog, but seems like he's also into gardening 🥺❤ The way he's tryna re-pot your flowers in the end
His expression says, "I don't really like this, but Mom promised chicken nuggets on the way home if I was a good boy." 😆
Yes that's it that's exactly what his expression makes me think!
My nieghbor had one of these (male named Cain) and though he was 9 years old he still had a very playful spirt and was friendly playing with children and my Yorkipoo. He sadly passed last year at the age of 13 (longer than average for this type of dog) and he will be solely missed.
Had an exceptional owner then. Takes quite a bit of work to get them to the point where their instincts come second. They tend to bond with their people but don't trust outsiders all that much

Wow! I never thought I would come across a Presa Canario dog in this channel 😊 This breed originates from where I come from: the Canary Islands (Islas Canarias), Spain. They are a huge and command a lot of respect - in fact, their bite is one of the strongest in the world - but in the hands of responsible owners they are very good dogs.
Diesel is just a laid-back boy! ❤
Bite force , psi.. Strongest is Anatolian Shep/ Turkish Kangal.. In 700s

I never expected to see a Presa Canario on this channel knowing that you are Canadian, and that this breed is not very popular outside the Canary Islands.
Here Presa Canarios are more than a breed, they are part of our cultural identity and, in a way, their way of being resembles our character. They pretty chill until they're not, so, as she said, socialization, especially with other dogs, is key.
I loved to see him well cared for and trained and I loved this video too.
Greetings from the Canary Islands. ❤️
An absolutely lovely breed! Thank you!

Diesel is so cute, and we'll behaved. His face in the happy hoodie melted my heart.
We rescued a beautiful girl from a shelter and it turns out she is a Pressa Canario. She is the biggest sweetheart of a baby I have ever owned. I’m so glad she was at the shelter the day we went, and can’t imagine why anyone would have given her up. But I’m glad she is ours 💖💖

Diesel has done very well for his 1st grooming session. I have give his owners credit for training Diesel to be very well-behaved.
I dated a girl who raised them for breeding. Mia and Turbo were her pair. Before Turbo got used to me, he clamped my hand HARD. After that we got along great. One day I got to her house to let them out of the basement kennel into the backyard. Turbo played with me, then stopped fixated on something. Apparently the pest control had come by that morning and left the fence open. At the moment I realized it and a slo-mo "oh no", Turbo took off. Running through the neighborhood top speed. I knew he wasn't much for strangers (obviously) and while chasing him all I could think was " he is gonna eat a child!" He LET me catch him and take him back home. I don't think my heart pounded more since that day.
back in my student days, I was boarding with a family, of which the son was a veterinarian, he had a family of 3 presa canarios, mom dad, and son, they usually had them roaming in their front porch and had to put them back in the patio whenever I was coming in or any of the other people renting there, one Sunday they had a family party and I didn't want to interrupt them, figuring the dogs already knew me after months of living there.... the moment I got in, they surrounded me and started growling, big momma had her mouth in my leg growling, I started to back up to get out but the door opened the other way around! the moment I stepped closer she lunged at me and threw a small bite, almost chomping a bit out of my upper leg.
I managed to get out with only that bite though. The only time I've been more scared was when some thieves held me at gunpoint. but that is another story lol
He is such a sweet and beautiful dog! Way to go Diesel! ❤
His face during this whole process was priceless. 😂

@@GingerPiston It makes me sad that people do this. I live in a country where this is illegal, and surprisingly all the terrible things that can and totally definitely will happen to a dog's ears if they're not cropped don't really seem to be an issue
@@GingerPiston that is topic of great disagreement. Remember th Central Asian Shep, she did here?? Been done for centuries, done to protect protect dogs from predators, as wolves, ripping ears tails. They are cut at 2-3days old
These days, have a choice( breeds as dobie Dane scnauzer cane Corso digo Argentino pitb/ bully)

@@Memow-pk1ng docking tails was done for similar reasons if it made sense for the work they were doing. His demeanor actually made me chuckle! His face was seemed to be saying: "My human said I had to be here and to get a bath. Reluctantly I agreed to come and here we are, but I don't have to be an active participant in it."
IT IS DISGUSTING TO CUT THE EARS OF A DOG - AN IN MANY COUNTRYS IT´S FORBIDEN.
1:45 nothing this terrible has ever happened to this dog IN HIS LIFE and he just wants to know why you'd betray him like this
Presa's are one of the best breeds but definitely not for 99% of people, I have a presa mix. As mentioned she's a got bit of aggression towards other dogs when she's on leash, if they even look at us or display any type of interest in us she becomes aggressive. I have socialized and trained her well enough that she understands that certain area's are not hers to defend like dog parks and such but if you live in an apartment like I do this is something you always have to be on high alert for, they have a long history and have been used as guard dogs for a long time so the aggression is a guarantee with them, it's in their instincts to defend an area. Definitely would not recommend getting one if you live in a crowded living environment as it is a lot of work and you really need to know how to handle such a large muscular breed.
Definetly not for first time, mushy dog owners, .. gotta be alpha, firm , as w/ other powerful mastiff types,.. Cane C. Boeboel, & pitbull types, especially th XL Bullies ...UK trying to ban them, as been recent attacks of 6 been killed
They do best when they're allowed to guard a large property. They've also always been fought among farmers with other dogs to select breeding males.
The apartment issue is an important point. A friend of mine knew Diane Whipple, the San Francisco woman who was killed by two presas in an apartment building hallway in 2001. I'm glad you understand how potentially dangerous a presa can be and have taken steps to train yours well.
@@denverdubois5835 Yeah, it is a scary thought what they are capable of. As long as you're passionate and responsible with them, and understand that they are basically a weapon, you should be okay. In my case, mine is mixed with a Great Dane, English and French Mastiffs and unfortunately you never know what genes and traits a mix will receive but it was pretty clear she was going to be mainly Presa early on so I wanted to make sure I was on top of these things.
I think it's funny that these dogs make you look like a tiny little plastic toy. But it's even funnier that you come in and just take command of the situation and they obey your every word. Thank you for being so kind.❤
To say he looked unimpressed would be an understatement ❤😂❤

Having owned saint Bernard's German shepherds and Anatolian shepherds I can tell you that many large breed dogs are full size physically by about 2 years old but don't necessarily reach emotional maturity until 3 or a little older.
I hate it when people cut ears and tails it’s makes them look awful is such a shame.
Diesel was so well behaved he’s a lovable genital giant 🥰
I’m with you on ear cropping/tail docking, though not because of the aesthetics of it, but simply cos I believe it’s unnecessary and cruel. ☹️
I agree for cosmetical purposes but again you have to remember that people are also using these types of mastiff dogs like Presa, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino… for working puroposes, and serious infections can happen if boar or some other animal manages to get their ears or tail.
So remember cropping and docking was mainly used for working purposes at first, but then these breeds were becoming pets and this continued mainly for aesthetics, which i dont condone.
But dont judge everything, these breeds are still working types.

I love your videos.
More details on the trial please
As you rightly say, it is *always* the owner (or previous owner), it is people that drive dogs to bite, be it by abuse, or ignorance. Dogs do not want to bite, they may have learned through cruel experience that biting is the only thing that keeps them safe. Dogs can be reactive for many reasons, but never violence for enjoyment, never violence to be cruel, only ever because they have been intentionally, or unintentionally taught to do so. Unfortunately it the breeds with the most devastating bites that are often prized by cruel people, because it makes them look "tough" to have these animals straining on choke collars. So thank you, for taking the time to learn more about a breed that you feared, and for realising that it is humans who are always, ultimately, to blame (and are almost never prosecuted as they should be)
It's always the human...you have to know the breed traits and train/handle accordingly. This breed is not for everybody, certainly not the uninformed or the lazy.

That is one well trained and very well socialised dog. He didn't over react when faced with something new, something disturbing and that is all down to the owners who clearly love him very much. He knows he can make a snack of Vanessa if he wants to, but the confidence he has means that he only shows aggression when it's really needed. I'm sleeping well at night if he was at the foot of my bed. Great video as well.
As a former dog groomer, I think it is safer to place yourself in the doorway, in case he decides to attack. You have no escape route when you are stuck in the corner. Dogs can escalate quickly, as you know. Be safe girl!
I love how after his professional bath and groom, Deisel goes right out and starts digging in your garden.
That growl when the hose turned on👀, lovely pattern on the fur🙂
Thougt was th water going down drain😝
All colors are acceptable, all white would look much like Doggo Argentino
Short coated is hair, double coated referred to as fur
