[ Resident Evil Village is set three years after the events of Resident Evil 7. Ethan Winters returns as the protagonist. Ethan has to traverse the village to rescue Rosemary. The village is governed by four different mutant lords, each controlling their own forces from strongholds within the village. Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, an extremely tall vampire-like aristocrat, leads her three daughters and others from her castle. yeah man, i was thinking about that, even there is a dialogue on re6 when chris says something about retirement while looking at piers like thinkin that piers would be his sucessor, then here at SPOILERS ALERT village ethan died to save him and if chris trained him was because of something, maybe again he saw him as a good candidate for sucessor, i think that at some point he will look back to jake and without wanting it cause he is wesker's son he would actually become his sucessor
When you realize that Ethan was still trying to keep going with Chris because he thought Mia was dead so before he dies he should at least be sure his daughter was safe until he discovers Mia is alive then he is relieved that Rose was in safe hands since her mother was still there for her
I bet Chris comes to regret informing him of that and probably believes there is a similar connection to what he said and his reaction like you do.

Ethan knew that if he went with them he would be experimented on, it's why he chose what he did. Like what happened with Jill. After surviving the Baker's he had to go through with it. He didn't want to do it all over again.
Piers could've potentially been saved he just didn't want to risk Chris' life in case he fully changed before they were rescued.

You know, I really don't want to believe this resident evil is somehow connected to the original resident evil, it would just make the story way to convoluted, and then the annoying question comes up. like I'll actually be mad if they try to wrap the original story into this.

At the end when Rose gets in the car and it drives off, there guy on the side of the road that the car stops for, it might be Ethan. Someone use a mod to get a better look so I’m not 100%

Ethan is a hero, went through hell to save Mia from Eveline and the Bakers, now went through even more hell in Village to save his daughter, then to find out hes been dead all along and was mold. Man i have no words he was litterally just a man trying to save his family from things he couldnt control.
Man had to have insane willpower to be able to resist Eveline's influence through his entire fight with the Baker's

@Agent Duckie She knows he is one the entire time too apparently (I believe she used to work for a terror organization unbeknownst to her husband). Apparently the mold combined with his body so perfectly it acted like his normal human body including simulating his DNA and... other... bodily functions (with some obvious durability and regenerative advantages as he survives a major fall from several stories up in the castle). She knew she was having adult time with mold the whole time which raises some eyebrows though.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed why Chris was really pissed about Ethan dying. Even though he wasn't close to him. It reminded him of Piers
Two good men helped Chris in defeating the evil that lurks in this world
Both were turned into monsters they swore to destroy
but they both remain in the side of good and push onwards
and lastly, Both died to save Chris and sacrifice for the greater good
Ethan was never a monster just had regeneration and Piers was still good but was gonna turn so he chose to stay behind
@@gogetathestrongestfusion what he meant by calling them "monsters" is that they weren't normals humans anymore Ethan having been turned into mold that while it was still him in the driver's seat he wasn't ever going to be the same infact it seems that Ethan's heart was his core while his mind may have been imprinted on the molds form (or just straight up took over the molds form) and Piers was well turning into a creature of the C virus so while they were both good guys they both had to go out altered from where they started in fact we all missed that something was up with Ethan from when he had his leg chopped off to the fact his hand still worked along with the heart monitor being able to detect a pulse through said hand despite the fact it probably disconnected for hours then was reattached with medical grade staples not even any stitching and wrappings to cover the wound
@@RebelFNOS That doesn’t make any sense when Mia said Ethan was Special she meant he still had his mind even with the mold and for three years he was fine and did the write choices just him taking so much damage made his abilities at it’s limited and Piers definitely save Chris life big time and knew what to do till the end he knew he was gonna Transform into something more so he chose to save behind and made sure not having them fight at they definitely aren’t monsters your right there are humans with powers like Jake and Sherry and now adding Rose
I mean Ethan didn't save Chris. Chris could've easily of just left by himself with the remote. Piers is the only one that actually saved his life.

Honestly, Ethans ending is sadder, as soon as he looked at the megamycete, his whole life, flashed through his eyes and ended with a explosion and the fact that he was Mold was also a sad plot twist

Now I understand that Chris was angry in airplane because he lost his soldier for second time. (Ethan)

Definitely Ethan's death was sadder. He's a normal civilian who just wants to save his abducted daughter. What's worse is that he was smacked by the hard Truth that he was dead and became reanimated as a mold. Even in pushing the trigger he's scared of dying. He doesn't deserve this tbh. Exactly, Ethan used to be a normal civilian (even if he turned into the mold he still doesn't know it until the end of Re 8) yet he still bravely go and challenges the Baker family for holding his wife hostage and the lord and Miranda for holding his daughter. He doesn't know he is special, he only knows that those healing items could heal him, he could have gotten killed easily with just a few bullets he has and the limited arsenal he picks up, yet he didn't give up and destroyed a monster that could very well destroy a whole city alone.

I feel a lot sadder with Pier's death but it's mainly because I played with my younger brother a lot (I used Piers while he used Chris) and after having fun for the whole playthrough, the ending where I (as Piers) sacrificed myself to help my younger brother (as Chris) survive is a lot sadder

So relieved someone thinks the same. My younger brother and I played on the old Xbox 360, and he'd beg to play as Chris. So I played as Piers. He doesn't know it but even in reality would I sacrifice myself for him as I did in the game 😅
I feel that. One day, me and my best friend were playing RE6. I was playing Chris, and he was playing Piers.
It's not in my friends nature to sacrifice himself for anything, but in a way, he sacrificed himself for me. And he was okay with that while I really wanted him to come with me.
That scene is definitely more powerful with a co-op player you're close with.
Chris is like when Ethan pushed him to escape, his facial expression tells us that he remembers Piers pushed him too to save him. Chris has a soft heart inside despite he is tough and cold outside. Ethan and Piers are his comrades in different time and place.
Chris also hurt that his friends die around him. So at least what he can do is to make Rose strong just like Ethan and a soldier to fight against bioweapons.
To be honest, you aren't wrong. Chris changed from RE1 to where we are now, he looks like the average badass game character that everyone knows n' all, but in the inside, he's still the guy in a white shirt and a green vest that survived a traumatizing event. Man, Resident evil really is a good game series aint it.

Of course he doesn't say anything, he's having PTSD, flashbacks, he knows he can't save them that's why he got out of there quick

Man I'm broken after Ethan's death... you gotta admire this guy... first he goes all the way to Louisiana to find his wife and end up going through hell and never giving up on her.. He managed to save her and have a little happiness before it was all taken away from him again and one more time he goes through a even worst hell to get his daughter back at all costs even if it kills him. Guy was mutilated, beaten and all kinds of shit but never gave up on his family and died protecting his loved ones.

I love how when Ethan was about to pull the detonator, you could tell how afraid he was. It's the only time in the entire game that he was genuinely afraid, because he knew damn well that he was gonna die when he pulled it. When he was fighting dimitrescu, heisenburg, donna beneviento, and the other horrors of the village he did not feel the same fear because he has taken so much damage before and had not died. So now, given the assurance of death, he felt true, genuine fear.
Only time? He's a civilian so naturally the entirety of re7 and 8 terrify him, but if he somehow wasn't, just play re8 and get to that baby sequence, its fun and it shows that re8 is all skies and rainbows

@@KingGesura They never actively partnered with Chris. Jill did during the raid on Spencer Manor but she survived the Raccoon City incident with her own badassery. Chris, Leon, Claire and Jill have all been separate in their scenarios.

Can't decide which one is more depressing (Piers or Ethan). Honestly, Capcom did a good job with those 2 moments.

@@sakayuuto5076 you're right. Piers doesn't even say anything like "farewell, Captain"; he just stares at Chris like he managed to accomplish his final mission. And Ethan just gives up living when he realizes his wife is alive and his daughter will be safe.
If you know about Piers past in the comic, he already lost someone he loves and still fighting to the end, and sacrificing himself for the future.

I actually bawled my eyes out for Ethans death ( I'm sorry I don't know the other guy from RE6 I joined RE7 ) because all these years being a fan of RE7 for Ethan to die was heartbreaking.
Also I think this video shows that Chris tries to save people but they always sacrifice themselves poor Chris.
While Piers' death is pretty sad, I'd argue Ethan's is sadder
He suffered hell through 2 games and got little to no breaks, and yet all he cared about was saving his family and almost nothing else
Piers spent his whole life fighting BOWs..He’s the one that got Chris back in the fight again and made Chris stop drinking..Ethan was a good character for what he was, but that’s about it..At least Ethan got to make a family unlike Piers who’s whole life was protecting the world
Piers helped Chris from his darkest hour and made sure he would make it out with his new inner strength to continue the fight. He has been with Chris longer and sacrificed alot FOR Chris. Definitely sadder. Especially when you compare Chris's reactions to both.
Ethan I found to be far more relatable to me as a fellow civilian, than Piers, another hero template made to save the world.

I never cried for Piers death, though his death was honorable. Ethans death was more honorable, he sacrificed himself to save his daughter. The ending was so full of emotion and it really took its toll on me.
I think they are same. If Piers didn't help Chris with his virus, Chris can die with the haos. Who that help and give the true story about miranda to ethan?

Without Piers Chris would still be a drunk loser somewhere. Piers never got to even expereince having a family of his own. He was young, so he probably spent the majority of his adult life fighting BOWs.

Piers is definitely the most emotional one. He's at your side all throughout the game. You kind of expect casualties, but the ones that hit you are the ones important to you.

Ethan lost his life. He died not even knowing Mia was alive. He was just a civilian.
Piers is a true hero. He grows on me after I replayed Re6 recently. I wasn't understand how much he sacrificed just for Chris to live.
The “He’s gone! I tried...” from Ethan’s death really hit me. As someone who has barely any experience of Chris’ character outside of being a “boulder-punching prick” this game really showed me his character.
The fact that he was pushing Ethan away was not out of malice or anger, but because he was trying to make sure Ethan didn’t get himself killed. And in the end, even when Ethan proved to be far more than Chris had originally thought, he sacrificed himself. Chris just wanted to make sure everyone got out alive, but we see how that’s a bit of a far-stretched goal that always seems just out of reach to accomplish.
The reason why it broke him up so much was because he was probably reminded of Piers. It was such a similar scenario that it made Chris feel even more emotionally distraught more than he probably would’ve.

Piers death was more heroic, man literally tore his arm off and got himself infected past return to save his captain. Then throws him the pod to save him again. Ethans was great but piers was amazing

honestly piers is one of my favorite resident evil characters, whenever i hear the word captain it makes me remember him so much

And even before all that, Piers pushed Chris out of the way of Haos' attack, taking the hit himself, which is what caused him to get his arm pierced in the first place. That's like a quadruple sacrifice right there.

I'm pretty sure when Ethan died, Chris remembered Piers. And felt that guilt again of not being able to save his allies who still had a future ahead of them.
Ethans VA did such an amazing job of simulating that loss and acceptance all in 10 seconds-

Since his first appearance, he's been losing a lot, his comrades, his partners, his friends, his faith, even his memory...but one thing he has never lost is...his hope, the hope for the future and he is willing to fight for it.
Characters from Racoon city, all of them had gotten through a lot. And they deserve respect.

Man chris can't catch a break the man literally watched his whole squad die and watched one of his closest friends mutate slowly from the infection then was forced to leave him behind plus almost permanently lost himself to his revenge chasing the doppelganger ada wong...but still a boulder punching badass
Ethan's part was the saddest. I mean all he wanted was just a happy life, a happy family, he went through all that chaos just to save her wife and her daughter. I burst out crying after watching the last scene of RE8. poor Ethan 😭
Ethan proved in re 8 that he is one of the best bad ass characters in RE series
Chris is like the Levi Ackerman of RE. like he watched his friends die in-front of him. he like went through so much and he will be the one who survived the longest just so he will see everyone he cares for died.

I've Played Re6, Watched Re8. Piers Nivans Had The Most Saddest Death In My Opinion
I love how unlike every other character that has sacrificed them self in the franchise, Ethan is not fully content with how things ended. He apologizes to Mia and his daughter and you can here his breath intensify and his eyes water before he pull the trigger on the detonator. But later in the dlc he get a more comforting end as he releases that rose is fine and can handle her self.
I never noticed Ethan’s vision getting blurred with tears... I’m heartbroken.
