One of my favorites! So glad it was voted fan favorite! One of the best Keith Richards riffs EVER and love Chuck Leavell on keyboards! Thanks for recording this!❤️🎶😀
So cool; grateful for whoever voted on Monkey Man to be performed this night. I was there that night too, which is probably why YT recommended me your video.
You have to know that the vote in thing is fake. I mean, they may take the outcome as a suggestion, but they obviously have the final decision. I knew that when they started the vote in thing in 1997. Example, the other night in Vegas......No true Stones fan would have voted for that weak 90's song You Got Me Rocking over Let it Bleed or All Down The Line. no way, not ever. Bottom line, the Stones wanted to do You got Me Rocking. Nobody likes that song, especially true Stones fans
@@tyristori Well, yes and no. Im a true fan, seen them in concert 60 times, going on 62, starting in 1975. Nobody can tell me I'm not a true fan. But there are definitely songs I do not like, like with every band. Of the post 81 efforts theres plenty not to like. I do not like You got me Rocking, for example. But theres also plenty to like, such as Out of Control or One More Shot. This latest album is excellent, btw.
@@jeffwatts1126Surely not every song is a masterpiece, it is only rock n roll. but it is nice to hear some less played songs too. Live versions are different arrangement and even a weaker song can transform into something. I have always liked Love Is Strong and You Got Me Rocking (Voodoo Lounge tour was the first one for me, so to me it is also significant era) although I would not probably vote for it.
And forever will be, because they are rock and roll purists: no psychedelic sound effects, no unnecessary additives. Richards, Jones, Taylor, Wod ALL ind bending guitarists beyond imagination.
The Killer rhythm section was Charlie & Bill. Now a replacement drummer hits too hard without subtlety as a backdrop for keith omitting an ever increasing number of integral, required chord changes.
@@reluctantblumpkin you're not wrong about the train that we're spotting is getting long in the tooth and at this point it's that it works at all is a miracle to be celebrated. Try cranking it at eighty.
I'll be seeing them in a few weeks, and I really wish they'd make "Monkey Man" a regular item in the set list. (They played it every night, or nearly so, on the *Voodoo Lounge* tour thirty years ago.) Watching videos from the gigs so far, I've noticed that they're strictly phoning in old standards like "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Miss You." And I don't fault them: I'd be tired of playing the same songs decade after decade, too. But everyone sounds totally engaged on this number--especially Keith--and it's fun to hear.
The sad thing is... The majority of the people are clueless to 'Monkey Man' Play 'Start Me Up' and they all go nuts. Ask the majority of the people who Mick Taylor is and they're clueless once again.

That means you'll always have the ones that can only tell you the "radio hits" and couldn't tell you anything about the Mick Taylor era or who's Bobby Keys (rip) or Ian Stewart (rip)
@@josehborba3004 No ....they really don't sound great....Keith is lost and physically weak. The bass and drums don't have the "soul" they did. Nuances....pal....nuances.
❤😂sso sorry Let it bleed is the best Stones ( i bought it in 71 for my father!) But i don't like the sound of the drum now...sometimes a little " critique " in french❤
They’ve lost that bite and power .. i know they’re old men but they’re a pale imitation of what used to be . How many times does Keef fuck up the introduction to Start me up 🤷♂️
This was a great show - it was an honor to be there…
It was a great night ❤️🔥
Agreed. They rocked it.
One of my top 10 Stones songs and reaching into the top 5. Always got jacked hearing this on the radio!!!
Forever the best rock artists!!
YES! ABSOLUTELY! This tune rocks! 👍
None of the raw power from let it bleed. We all get old.
Yes, the original was one of the best Stones songs for sure. This is pretty lame in 2024.
@@Arturo-sm1tb I thought this 2024 live version is pretty solid.
It's is a great tune ,they sound fantastic, a couple of days ago

Wonderful monkeyman! great show it,s only rock and roll but i love it❤❤❤🖤
Loving that they are playing the classics. 🐒 Outstanding filming. Thank you for sharing it with us! 😊

Although it's a little difficult to hear, this is easily the best live version I've ever heard.
agreed, it does sound quite tight and faultless, pity about the distance sound but i bet better recordings will materialise
I love this 🎵 🎶, it's very criminally underrated 🎉🎉. The Stones are the best rock band around 🎉🎉

I'm here for the amazingly fat guitar tones and the killer rhythm section.

Now that was excellent. Keith in zone there...to be fair I'm relieved hearing this as Keith has been shaky in others...
I think he's finally fully recovered from the flu, or whatever he had.
Keith has been shaky with Sympathy but was excellent with Rocks off, T & A and Jumpin Jack in Houston.
I mean they are older, and a few shows into the tour, god bless the Stones!
I agree but he really nailed it yesterday.
He has arthritis and that can be the only reason he struggled otherwise.
Right on schedule! They are tightening up as they always do on tour...first few shows get them into the rhythm and then their off flying....
Keith is banging on this. One of the coolest riffs and not an easy one to play.
Fantastic Glendale concert 💎 Exceptional performance of Great Song Monkey Man 🐒 AMAZING 🙆♀️ SOUND 🔥 Thanks for sharing ✌️👌👍
One of their best songs ever! When they really were the world's greatest rock band
I was there last night saw them in 89 and 94 in wash.d.c i,m from Baltimore now live in phoenix. One of my favorite songs.
Wow. Didn't think they'd bring that one back. And about time! Thanks for posting.
saw them play Monkey Man for the the first time since 2007 in Chicago a few years ago
The best live version of Monkey Man I've ever heard !
Drums, bass and keys are hired hands.
One of my favorites for sure..🙈🙉🙊
Excited to see if this is still on the list in Denver!

i was at this show
Missing Lisa Fischer on this. Best version.
Lisa was just such a perfect fit for the Stones. this version rocks but she would really elevate it!
CRAZY...ASF..
Steve ain't Charlie...not pounding the Tom Tom as he should.
I agree with the late Tom Petty. He preferred the Stones when they were dangerous.

One of my favorite middle 8 sections of all time. Not sure if it was kieth or Ronnie but they butchered it to hell.
Yeah Ronnie screwed up bad.
