Love seeing your videos. I am still waiting on my GT to arrive, but being in Montana I was looking for reviews that talk about running a Mach-E in a northern climate and found you. Great news on the heating, and I look forward to providing my input once mine arrives.
Just got mine back for the roof and windshield recall. I have 10,600 miles. I charge at home. So the only time I use DC fast charge is when I’m on the road. However, the price varies by area.
Mike, I remember you normally parking - at home - in your garage. What level charger are you using and, if it's more than a level one charger, what product did you select? Happy with it?
Hi Jack, I have a level 2 at home. I'm using the Flo charger found here: FLO X5 EV Charger UL Listed: amzn.to/3lDMRgU One big reason I went with it was because my utility suggested it and it is UL listed. Many, and I mean many of even the level 2 chargers are not UL listed. It has worked great for me.
In Quebec, Canada, Public chargers lvl 2 are at 0.70usd/hours. if you plug it at home, it will cost you 0.07usd/kwh (with mean less than 1$ full charge) Fast charger are about 9,60/hours (Takes 45 minutes.. so.. 7.20$ full charge) So 4hrs for 5$ and then 5$/hour? Yeah… not so great😂 3:15
on my road trips with the Mach E, I always choose places to stay with a charger, but I also choose one near a fast charger in case the chargers at the hotel are either taken up or end up not working. I don't think you can ever fully depend on a hotel charger when on road trips.
Great point! On the network chargers you can see the ones in use from the app, but many hotels likely just have a standard, non-networked unit. Always good to have a backup plan!
I really appreciate your videos. My Mach-E Select is supposed to be here any day. I’m another Minnesotan living in the Twin Cities and I have been wondering how it will handle Minnesota winters. Your videos have really been helpful giving me an idea what to expect. It sounds like you are a lot further north and have even colder temperatures to contend with. How far north of the Twin Cities are you?
Hi Joe, about 3 hours north of the Capital. Glad you are finding the videos helpful and I bet when you take delivery, you will have the TSB on the heat issue already taken care of, but put it on your check list just to confirm with the dealer.
I was wondering if you have continued to keep the MME despite its down falls? I’m thinking of getting the MME GTPE; I currently have the AWD MME select. I’ve enjoyed it mostly but have also encountered a handful of issues in my 14,000 miles so far… Thanks!
Hi Austin. I still have my GT version. I'm very happy with it. The TSB work was completed but here in MN, we haven't had a cold enough winter to test it out yet and make sure the heater can keep up. Other than that, I've been happy with it!
