New section for the channel! We work hard in the Mega Man sources team to track down the instruments used in our favorite tracks, so in these series of videos I'll be showcasing some of our work on Mega Man X5 and X6.
The lead itself might actually be multiple instruments layered on top of one another. I've caught Capcom doing that a few times across their Arcade library.
Yes, but that further complicates things. If you listen to both beta versions of this track (May & July versions) you will be able to hear it more clearly without all those effects/layered instruments the final version has. It sounds like some sort of synth-harpsichord. Regardless, it can't be found in any of the known synths Tanaka owned at the time. Its presumed its a custom patch, but there's really no way to know for certain without contacting Tanaka himself.
@@FusionArmorX It is the right octave. If it sounds empty its because I've muted some tones (layered waveforms integrated in the patch itself). It's not perfect but its the closest thing I have for now.
Well that track only has one guitar and that is the rhythm one, which is the same one used in this video and many other tracks. Tanaka used a Zoom 1204 reverb and effects processor for his guitars but he could have also used the native flanger effect from the SC-88.

You're so talented. This is so much work!
Thanks! But I don't work alone.

@@TheGreatestDarn I've heard. One other thing that struck me is that the lead in this sounds like it is a whole octave too high.

I'm curious about the Mattrex stage instruments. I wonder what flanger they used for the guitars especially the rhythm guitar.

@@TheGreatestDarn What instrument is used on the lead track? It sounds like a dirty guitar with a wah pedal.
@@Theworldsloser1
Its a synth patch from the JV-1080 named "Analog Lead" with some distortion and overdrive effects.
