Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. We moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape” and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

Happy Birthday, An! Looking forward to more Paris videos. Paris is my favorite city too, but I'm from San Diego and yearn for a warmer climate. I just had my VFS appointment in mid-September and I got approved for a long-stay Visa. I'm moving to Nice in mid-December! I hope to run into you, Jeff, and Bella sometime soon!

Happy Birthday, An! My birthday is this week, and I will be in Paris for four days next week - but it is just a coincidence! My sister and daughter are coming to visit me in Nice, and we will take the TGV. I also wanted a place in Paris, but my husband and sister voted for the weather in Nice! However, my Nice apartment cost about half of what the same space would have been in Paris.
Thanks and happy birthday to you too! I understand the thing about moving to Nice instead of Paris. Paris was always my dream but I compromised because of the weather and the cost. I can always have Paris....just a 5 1/2 hr train ride away! All the best!

We selected the hotel because they accept pets. They brought her a doggy blanket and a bowl too!

It is still crowded if you go near any of the tourist areas. We're staying in the Montparnas area, which is where the French people live, away from the tourists, so it is very nice. But just this morning, we went over to Montmartre, near Sacre Coeur Cathedral---tons of tourists, like summertime! UGH!

No, I bought it from a store here in Nice that sells some designer pieces and some that are close to designer styles but not replicas. This is from Liu-Jo, a brand from Milan Italy, that this store in Nice has. You can't see them, but I'm wearing a pair of slacks by the same brand, with some bling detail around the pockets. Very comfortable things. A bit pricey but they feel like they cost a ton more. I liked this sweater because it had a "Chanel" look to it (old Chanel).
Oh my goodness, happy birthday! Paris is our favorite city ever! So glad you got to spend some time making memories there.
Kimball and I dream about living in Oaris but it would mean a lower quality of life so we just visit when we can (FOR NOW) 😉😌

Paris is my favorite city in the world! I've wanted to live here (we're still here!) since i was a child. Unfortunately, it is too expensive. Nice is much more affordable. But, Paris is just a 5 1/2 hr train ride away. It's not next door but it sure beats the 8 or 9 hour flights we used to take from SW Florida to get here. So for us, living in Nice is a compromise. I can have a bit of Paris anytime we want to sneak away! Thanks for watching guys! We appreciate and love you! 😍🍷🎈❤

When Kimball and I visited Nice we were immediately like, “Okay, yes, we can live here.” We were in the train listening to the sound of waves and soothing sounds that come over the loud speaker thinking, “Great…Now public transport anywhere else in the world is ruined.” 🤣

Hi An and Jeff…I am a new subscriber, and am loving your videos. You guys are very adventurous, and it is a joy to travel with you. Next time I’m in Paris would not mind spending a few nights in the Hotel Monte Cristo, the neighborhood looks and feels fabulous…Chanel is my favorite so it was so much fun shopping with you there…..During my first trip to Paris, I had breakfast every day at the Cafe de la Paix, so it is exciting to see that their food presentation is something really special…thank you for sharing….finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, 🎉🎉🎉..Wishing you many more years of adventures, love, and good health. ❤
Thank you for your very kind note! Paris is very special to me. It's like my second home. And the Hotel Monte Cristo was very nice, as well. And Chanel... well! I always have to find "something" that I want to look for at the 31 Rue Cambon boutique. We were disappointed this time because Chanel used to allow customers who bought something, a moment on Coco Chanel's staircase (to her apartment), for a photo. Fortunately, we took a picture there years ago, but I wanted a new one--and they told us they no longer do that. What a shame. Glad you found us! All the best...
@@postcardsfromourgoldenyears…how interesting, I’ve seen photos of Chanel’s apartment, beyond stylish, mysterious…my life long love affair with “all things French” began when I was 6-7 years old watching Julia Child cook French food on TV…it’s not just the food, but in all the arts the French have evolved to a higher level…their ideas on creativity appeal to me. @@BrunieStudios I've been a Francophile since my father bought me a beret at the NYC Worlds Fair when I was about 11 yrs old. A psychic medium told me I had a previous lifetime in Paris and it left a very strong impression on me that I brought into this life. All the best...
