Thanks for more VoicePlay! This is an older one done back in 2018 when they were still touring and performing live at events frequently. My understanding is that the story they are telling in the video was inspired by a real health scare that Earl had just had. He left the group in 2020 for personal reasons. VoicePlay is always so wonderful in each era of the group's work.
Thanks for your enthusiastic reaction! This piece was quite complicated telling a story using the music from Queen. One of the other Voice Players can explain the characters and storyline better than I can in the comments but you understood most of it well. This was based on a health scare event that actually happened to Earl (that was Earl's husband in the end when he came out of his coma).
2:28 - Oh, yes. 😁 If there was ever going to be one thing that made Mrs Realistic bring a reaction to a screeching stop to go back and listen again, it would definitely be this incredible bit by Geoff right here! 😂 Always love your reactions 😘
@@MrsRealistic Oh believe me honey, NO one who knows Geoff/Voiceplay could possibly blame you for that. The first time I watched 'Queen in 5 minutes', Geoff's absolute Rock Wail caught me so off guard that I almost dropped my phone!! 🤣🤣🤣
Earl channels "Freddie" and Eli steps up - "Cool, I'll channel the electric guitars!" J. None's sound and Geoff's rockgod sound were amazing and Layne's heart beat is second to none.
Thanks for another VP reaction! Panic in 4 minutes is definitely worth a watch. (It's 2 videos, but both together total 4 minutes, so its worth doing them together.) Also, there is a prequel to those videos that shows how they end up in the situation in Panic. That one is called Trapped and it's Billie Eilish in 3 minutes.
“Woah, Geoff! Wait a minute, Geoff. Getting down! I need to hear that one again.” I’m pretty sure he went up there, not down. Of course, he did go back down a moment later.
They did the video this way after Earl had a health scare, appendicitis I think. Varying gods of the underworld were vying for who got to take him, Geoff's character is the one with the final say, live or die. He got to live! You can see Earl's muscles in the Moana medley and in an even older one, Cheerleader.
That’s one of my all time fave Geoff moments. It’s also one of my fave Eli moments when he’s all up in Geoff’s face. You may want to try Geoff’s solo cover of Jack’s Lament from Nightmare Before Christmas. Or maybe put that on your list for Halloween. But there’s some impressive highs there too.
I usually stick to VoicePlay's more modern catalogue when listening to them as their production values have improved immensly from their earlier years. However, there are many gems like this one to be found in their back catalogue and it is good to give them an airing every now and again. Thank you for this reaction!
I LOVE this piece! I suspect many die-hard Queen fans might not care for the "artistic license," but I think it's great! Earl's voice was always a bit TOO laser-like for me, but he is KILLER GOOD in this performance. And Geoff's amazing "thing" that you had to replay? Also incredible. I like it when you react to something you really enjoy... you are fun to watch. Happy subscriber here, glad you liked it! Great reaction (as always)!!
Actually. Queen In 5 Minutes is the 4th video in a series of kidnap videos they did. In order.... Trapped. Panic At The Disco Parts 1 & 2 (4 minutes total, so recommend you watch together). Queen In 5 Minutes. This was done right after Earl had a big health scare. He left the group a couple years after this was released.
I had not heard about him having a health scare. I just heard that he left the group in 2020 for personal reasons that were never disclosed. I've always thought that I hope he's doing well.
Also, Mrs. Realistic, even though Trapped was made after the two Panic at the Disco videos, it is sort of a prequel to them so I recommend you watching it first. I had never really thought of the Queen video as being a fourth one in the series, but I suppose it could be.
This was based off a real life scare Earl had while touring (I believe appendicitis). The characters are all different death gods from various cultures: J None as Anubis from Egyptian mythology who weighs your heart against the feather of truth to determine whether you end up in Hell or Heaven. Or in this case the they are equal giving Earl a choice if he moves on or return to his mortal life. Eli as Yama Nirvana from Hindu Mythology who escorts the dead onto whatever comes next. He just wants to continue with his job, and Geoff is not helping or going along with. Layne as Guardian is either Heimdall from Nordic or Cerberus from Greek Mythology or a combination of both. They're both in charch of guarding the paths, preventing the living from entering and the dead from leaving. Geoff is the Baron from Haitian Voodoo Mythology whi digs the grave and has the final say of if you are allowed to even die. He also has the ability to heal any human illness. So in this case he is giving Earl a chance to choose to return to the living even protecting him from the others. But everything comes at a cost thus the gold coin has vanished at the end believed to be the payment given to the Baron. Layne and Eli spent a lot of time choosing the perfect phrases to tell the tale, knowing Frankie was also in love with the various Mythologies. I think he would be proud of their efforts. Thanks for your reaction.
Earl definitely went from being the "pudgy guy" to being strapping! For example, in one of VP's earlier, Tony era videos, they show everybody's wishes, and Earl wishes he could eat tons of cookies, impressing the guys. Then he started hitting the gym, or something in real life, and in another video, we see Earl lifting an entire hay bale by himself, with just his hands! And in the Moana Medley, he flexes a bit, and it's very impressive. Me, I wonder if he was nervous standing on the bed like that (love that air guitar riff!), I would be! But this is a great video, great story, Earl on the brink of death, and having to fight the minions of Death and coming back to life basically in his partner's arms! He came back for his husband. So sweet, I love it!💚
Yes, please. And the panic in Four Minutes includes part one and two in that four minutes, so you’ll want to cue them up and react to both at the same time.
The Panic videos are great! You can do part 1 and 2 in the same video because they are short and go together. The prequel is their Billie Eilish mashup.
Those were the gods of death or the Underworld from various religions. That's Earl's husband Nick at his bedside at the very beginning and end of the video. Before Earl goes through the curtain he notices the pendant around his neck reminding him of Nick, which gives him the strength to come back to the land of the living. You can catch a glimpse of Nick standing with Kathy Castellucci and Eli and Layne's girlfriends/wives for a quick moment.
They missed my favourite Queen song Who Wants To Live Forever😢 The guys were the guardians at the gates to the afterlife. Their names and what they carry are at the start of the video
@draclaudiasilva4323 I know they missed a lot, but that is one that kind of fits in with the theme. Don't get me wrong. I love VoicePlay and I love the song. It was just a musing.
If you want to watch the Panic! at the Disco videos (there is a Part 1 and a Part 2), be sure to watch their Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes first!! Those three videos have a storyline that runs through them, and it's cool to be able to follow it when watching them in the proper order. Also, the Billie Eilish cover is more of a mashup than a medley, and it absolutely slaps! It's honestly one of the cooler arrangements that Geoff has done, and the video is also terribly cinematic. You'll want to watch it a couple of times to pick out all that's going on.
Dreaming or on the brink of death, with a group of afterlife deities quarreling over his fate: Geoff as Baron (dark angel and gatekeeper, who seems to be a blend of Baron Samedi from the Voodoo religion and a Luciferian type of figure,) who is clearly disliked by and in disagreement with Layne (Guardian, Sentinel of the Underworld...maybe an anthropomorphic version of Cerberus?), Eli (Yama Nirvana, Judge of Souls and Usher of the Dead from East Asian and Buddhist mythology,) and J.None (Osiris, Caretaker of Souls in the Egyptian mythos.) It's left up to interpretation precisely what position the deities on either side are taking regarding Earl's soul and whether any of them is really trying to protect him or 'on his side,' or if they all have their own agendas, which is what I personally tend to think. They all seem to be trying to persuade him, though, and it seems the other three are very tired of hearing Geoff/Baron complain about how unfairly he's been treated and how badly he's screwed things up for himself! Regardless, Earl tells all of them to stuff it and goes back to the land of the living in the end-- _without_ the gold coin his (real-life) husband hung on a chain around his neck at the beginning.
That geoff high moment makes us all do a double take. I love the another one bites the dust and we will rock you melody and counter melody in this
I was GOBSMACKED!

What was the health scare? Someone else had commented about this. I hope he doing better now!
@@MrsRealistic appendicitis probably? i cant really remember, but i think they mentioned him being "down an organ"
You should totally check out their song/rendition/mashup called "boy bands in 5 minutes"!! 🤘
Thank you! That sounds awesome!
@MrsRealistic you're welcome!
I second this suggestion too! You'll be grinning from beginning to end! 😉💕
This is one of my VP favorites!
Thank you for this reaction. I always love your reactions to Voiceplay and Geoff.❤❤❤😊😊
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Yes absolutely iconic 🥳🥳

I was wondering on that one too... he had a tight shirt on!
Cheerleader is an amazing video - they are ALL giving up the gun show. It’s one of my fave vids for that reason. 😁
Hi Mrs. R. I was waiting for your reaction to Geoff's high wailing. Perfect. ❤
