The story about her mother is truly something special. She was always so optimistic about even the darkest of things. Rest well Betty. You filled a world of such hate with so much love and we will greatly miss you. 🌹
My guess is that Bea Arthur was one of those people who was easily annoyed by people who are shall we say just too chipper and too happy. That's not anything Betty White did wrong, it is merely a clash of personalities. I have been the person who is too chipper, and I have been the person who is annoyed by the people who are too chipper, and I get that both can cause a clash. The fact that both still managed to find a way to respect each other professionally in spite of that natural clash in personalities is a real testament to their professionalism. And the fact that Betty just sees Bea's dislike of her as a mere curiosity and amusement and still seems to love her back in spite of it all is also such a sweet, huge credit to her. I think that is the core of the truth of her being and is why so many people from all walks of life love her. It is completely genuine, and truly remarkable.
@@beatriz9376 It’s an interesting theory. Personally, I don’t buy it. Part of why I don’t buy it is because when they surprised Betty White for I think it was This Is Your Life, although it is very subtle Bea does this really sweet squeeze of Betty’s shoulder, and there is a protective, loving look on Bea’s face. It’s way too subtle for her to be playing it for the sake of the cameras. In spite of the fact that they grated on each other’s nerves, or more specifically in spite of the fact that Betty grated on Bea’s nerves, to me in that moment it looks like in spite of it all Bea actually did genuinely care a lot about Betty, and in that moment she was feeling proud and glad that someone she cared about was getting an honor that she richly deserved. I admit I could be reading that moment wrong, but even though it was subtle it looked and felt extremely genuine to me. Bea got many, many accolades over the years for her work, and Betty also gave her plenty of credit and never tried to take away Bea’s limelight. I just don’t see Bea being that petty over Betty getting an honor when she was so proud and supportive and caring when Betty got another honor. I have no idea how Bea personally felt about not having her own star, but I do not for a second get the impression that she would direct any of her anger or disappointment or jealousy over something like that towards Betty. No, when I see their animosity, such as it is, I always get the impression that Betty is someone who regularly grated on Bea’s nerves and drove her crazy, but when the chips were down I suspect if anyone else had ever come after Betty Bea would have been the first person to be protecting Betty like a ferocious Lion protecting her cubs, and I also get the impression that when they were not grating on each other’s nerves that professionally Bea had no problem silently being Betty’s greatest cheerleader as long as it was from a distance where they weren’t driving each other crazy. But yes, that is me reading a lot into a handful of interactions and sparse evidence.
You're right. Bea was a much more serious person, nothing wrong with that. I loved her work and she gave so much and really gave women someone, in two great shows, to truly admire. I think I read her best friend was Angela Lansbury and she was also close to Jean Stapleton. I think they all came from a theater background while Betty was out there being a television trailblazer doing so many firsts for a woman in that industry. All great ladies but just different. It's too their credit, as you said, they worked so well together and were mostly friendly in that work environment. Everyone we work with, after all, isn't always going to be our besties. Betty and Rue, on the other hand, were actually good friends so it's nice that they did have that beyond just being colleagues. What they all created together on that show has been such a gift to us all. I remember, long ago, sitting as a kid watching the Golden Girls with my grandma. Sophia would always crack her up. I'll always remember her when I watch Golden Girls and be thankful we had those moments together. -- Best wishes to you and anyone who reads this. 💛
Joy: "You outed Carey Grant." Betty: "What??" Joy: "You outed Carey Grant." Betty: "No one knows, and it's NONE OF OUR BUSINESS." Joy: *continues to talk about it*
Yes, but that saying isn't literal. It means the good die young at heart. All good people die young at heart because they don't have anything to fear from death. When you die hardened from the years, you die old. When you die just as enthusiastically and full of optimism as a child, you die young. The bad will always die old because they're worried about punishment for their ill deeds.
I love how even when Bea didn't like Betty she still respected her for her talent and Betty even thought Bea never liked her she has such love for her and all of that cast. May they all rest in peace.
Betty is such a selfless person i really do enjoy washing her show's and she has got an amazing talent....how well do you enjoy Betty show while she was alive?
I love that you said that--it seems like she probably 'always' knew the secret, but it was cute of her to play coy with us so we weren't intimidated. ;)
@@ingridfong-daley5899 Not exactly. First of all, Ecclesiastes is a book from the Hebrew Bible which is also one of the "wisdom books" in the Old Testament. It was written about 300 years before Jesus Christ. Also, he didn't write the entire verse. It says "“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.” Solomon wrote this book from an entirely EARTHLY perspective. In its most simplistic terms, it means that the dead can no longer enjoy or be rewarded for their activities in THIS life. If you read the entire book, Solomon says in 4:2 that the dead are happier than the living. But, when a person is dead, the opportunities to enjoy things on earth no longer exist. Its not a passage of gloom and doom.
She made sure it was a better place for animals but with people she couldn't care less. All that age and just as niev as the rest of the self-righteous so called women on the view.
I always feel kind of gross when I chime in with a negative person. I think, 'What was the point to all that except now I feel even worse'. Better to stay positive.
She is very lucky in that she has a very pert shiksa nose, wide doe eyes and a strong willingness to confidently showcase her femininity. No doubt this was because she was born at home (how quaint), fed her mothers milk until she was 2 years old (which beautified and feminised her). She was no doubt fed a very simple diet of red meat, potatoes and oatmeal even in sunny california. Her sweet Norwegian ancestry also helps!! She is the ultimate aryan doll!!
Bea was a very strict person. her son even said (i remember reading it) that she was the type of person who would sit in silence at the table with her morning paper and coffee. and i think maybe Betty was the oppisite of her (fun loving, a little more relaxed, etc). Bea was a hell of a person though. she was a marine
Bea was the type of person from what others not in the business have describes as completely kind and giving, if she knew and trusted you. she's like the American Maggie Smith, someone who just did not suffer fools.
Betty White was phenomenal. Not many people exude grace and charm throughout their lives. Fame sometimes corrupts people, but she always stayed classy and sunny. She was enjoyable to watch, because she brought her sunshine with her to her performances and brightened all that saw her. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
Hello Serena how are you doing today? I love how even when Bea didn't like Betty she still respected her for her talent and Betty even thought Bea never liked her she has such love for her and all of that cast. May they all rest in peace.
I remember watching Lake Placid. I've only watched it once. My heart about leaped out of my chest when I heard Betty White drop the F bomb. I think I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I remember both my husband and I staring at each other in disbelief that Betty White actually said that word. Think we sat there for a good 10 minutes stunned. Granted I do say that word, but it was just something about hearing it come out of Betty Whites mouth. I've never been able to watch that movie again.
Topher S I was going through the comments and saw yours. No, I don't remember her on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Actually, I didn't even know that she was involved with that show. When I get a chance, I'll have to check it out. Someone else commented that she was in a movie called Lake Placid ( which I've not seen either) and that she "dropped the F bomb!" Yikes! I'll have to check that out as well! I have seen a few episodes of a show called "Hot in Cleveland" that she acted in and her role was much more risky. But no matter what she's in, I'm a fan. I think she's a wonderful actress!
I couldn’t stop sobbing laying on my kitchen floor right when I read the news. Was even supposed to pick up my little boy from day care at 4 that day but I just couldn’t and couldn’t even take calls. He stayed at one the workers house for two nights since they couldn’t reach so now everything is fine. THATS how much I love her I couldn’t deal
Even knowing Bea wasn't fond of her, Betty was still courteous and kind about her.. That's humility right there.. What a talented kindc soul this lady was.. The Zzzzlisters of today could not hold a candle to her. She navigated the labirynth of Hollywood with style, grace and authenticity.. What a beautiful legend ❤️🙏❤️
Adrenochrome doesn't keep people alive, it does make them live longer. Carey Grant lived with Randolph Scott for 12 years. Then he was advised by his manager to marry his secretary.

No offense to Bea, but I suspect she didn't like Betty just because Betty was so happy. I used to identify more with Bea, but now I'm more of a Betty. When you're a very unhappy person (through no fault of your own), there's something about people who are just happy that confuses and kind of angers you. Even when you try to hide it, the happy person notices your annoyance at their happiness. I'm glad I figured out the happiness thing, or at least I'm working on it. I lucked into the right therapy.
What a wonderful thing to share. THank you. Interesting to admire how Betty couldn't care less about who slept with whom, but Joy Behar just wouldn't let it go. Seemed kinda petty and gossipy, while Betty just soared away on the high road. Makes you love 'animals' all the more.
This program was just not good. I watched a couple of times (due to the guest, like this episode) and was really disappointed. It takes a real skill to be a good interviewer, not everyone can do it.

Ellen Gregory she wasn’t throwing shade, she was just saying God blessed her with such a long life because she never disrespects anyone. also her attitude on life keeps her here
I noticed Betty was ignoring or skillfully waving aside some things that the interviewer was saying. I absolutely love that. There's too much hatred in the world.
What an absolutely wonderful woman. It's so rare that someone can live as long as she did without anyone having a bad thing to say about them. It seems that absolutely everyone who encountered her just loved her. What a loss that she's gone. I hope there is something after this life, and that I get to encounter her in some way.
Joy: Let's talk about people being gay. Betty: I don't care about that as long as people are decent and kind. Joy: Right. So let's continue to talk about people being gay.
Joy is too dense to pick up on the concept Betty was talking about. She's also not a good interviewer since she stays stuck on what she wants and ignores the interviewee.

Love you Betty . If you can tell me the secret I'll be still and listen. If you can't tell me I certainly hope I see you in the next go round . I will be in the best of company.
Betty White has to be an angel. She is wise, Shes funny, Shes caring, Shes open minded and very intelligent. Wealthy but very grounded, I hope she stays around for another 50 years!
Betty White was a high priestess in the Church of Satan. She was the Satanic Queen of Hollywood. You didn't get to be famous in LA without Betty's approval.
Just such a legend. At the end of the day - all this time on earth is about being a good person, like Betty was. That's it. Well done Betty you did great!
My grandmother hated her. She told me that since I was a child. She never gave me a solid answer as to why. And my grandmother was a loving person who loved everyone, but had a weird distain toward her. Very wierd.
True Blue Review... I always thought she came off as an uppity, nose in the air, snooty know it all, just from watching her from different older game shows. Your grandmother probably noticed that as well? Not a fan of Betty, but I wish her only a healthy longevity.
Exactly what would Bea need to defend herself against? Did Betty say she was an evil witch? No. She merely said Bea wasn't fond of her. Nowhere in this interview did she bash Bea Arthur in any way, shape or form.
Plus, I just finished reading story interviews from the Empty Nest cast. You know, the show that was spun off from the Golden Girls. The cast talks about their experiences working with Bea on their show or just being on the same sound stage. It was also confirmed that Bea could not STAND Betty, unfortunately.
DaxShaw I agree. What is so wrong in stating that you know someone does/didn't like you? She didn't elaborate or give any specifics or details, just made a statement.
JhomasE That is sad. It almost sounds like Betty and Bea were the closest to truly being like their characters. That is probably part of the reason why any scenes involving the two of them seemed authentic...most especially the Saint Olaf stories...lol!!!! Life imitating art, or art imitating life, I guess! 😉
Betty was petite, very cute, funny and charming. Bea was big, gawky, had a manly voice and look about her and had an angry vibe about her. I think Bea's problem with Betty was mostly jealousy.
Well, the problem with celebrities and TV shows is no one knows what goes on behind the cameras except the actors. They can act like they love each other on the show and hate each other in real life. Look at Linda Evans and Joan Collins. They were friends long before Dynasty and were friends in the beginning years of Dynasty, but something happened and they ended up hating one another.
Dan San me I love her ..I’ve been watching them since I was a kid though ..I grew up watching them and my sister is in heaven and it helps me remember the good times with her
I loved how Betty responds to Joy’s attempts to talk about gay movie stars, etc, and Betty is like, “I really could care less” if the person is a good, kind human. You tell it Betty! Class act and I miss you already. ❤️💐
That was truly the best part. It shows how authentic she was as a person. Meanwhile, Joy can't shut up about the superficial topic. Betty had a heart of gold. 💛
Ultimate, never thought much about her. I thought she was funny on everything she was on that I remember watching her in. I love that she's such an animal activist. I've watched her in this ugly political climate (thanks to the libs) and I love how she doesn't speak ugliness when asked a biased question. She doesn't fall for the Katie Couric's and all the other talk show hosts who try to elicit an anti conservative answer. NOW that's CLASS!!! I've noticed that about Rachael Ray, too. She may be a screaming lib, but, she doesn't care what political side you are when her guests appear on her morning show. Everyone should take their lead.
ProudKansan08 I absolutely agree! I hope 2018 will bring this country back together, seems like people on both sides have lost the ability to be gracious and kind to one another. So with that sentiment in mind, this "screaming lib" would like to say Happy New Year!!! May you and your family have a blessed and bountiful year! ✌🏽️❤️
10dogs7catsezpz, thank you, and I appreciate your gracious reply. WISH more people were like you!! Happy New Year!! And may YOU and YOUR family have a blessed and bountiful year, too!!! :)

It’s kind of sad when people assume that because you’re the oldest means you’ll die first. Betty, I believe is still alive because she’s always happy and optimistic and she’s always thinking of others. There will never be another Betty White.
Betty was just confirming what Rue McClanahan told everyone before she passed. It's not that Bea disliked Betty, I think Betty just got on her nerves sometimes. Conflict of personalities. They both admired and respected each other immensely on a professional level. Bea and Betty were polar opposites as far as personalities go so it's not unexpected that sometimes Betty's super sweet personality would grate on Bea's more reserved personality's nerves. Betty didn't say anything negative about Bea here, went on to say how much she admired and respected her. Love them both - they made magic together on screen along with Rue and Estelle. I still watch Golden Girls to this day. No other show matches it's level. Hot In Cleveland is also good since its great to see Betty on TV regularly with an ensemble of women, but it's vastly different from Golden Girls.
Bea initially turned down Golden Girls because she thought Betty was the put up to be the star - so it seems she didn't like her even before they worked together. But that happens - a lot of people say they don;t like someone who's famous despite the fact they don't know them as a person
Me, too. Sometimes, my jaded 19 year old watches it with me, and she thinks their funny. Usually, she doesn't like the old shows that I used to watch when I was a teen, twenty something, and thirty something. But, she likes the Golden Girls.
Hello Rebecca how are you doing today?....Betty is such an amazing soul she was so selfless and kind of love everyone around her....what do you think about Betty and her lifestyle?
I read somewhere about Saturday Night Live-Betty White, Madonna and Tina Turner didn't need to use the monitors to read their lines in the skits. They memorized all their lines in the skits they were in. Watch Coffee Talk with Madonna and she delivers her lines like she's just talking naturally.
Such a happy, genuine soul. We will miss you Betty. A few weeks shy of her 100th birthday, what a long life! May you continue to make others laugh in the after life, now you know the secret 🙏🏼
Show bussiness back then: co-stars didn't like each other personally, but respected each other and kept it professional. Now, everything is about catfights and throwing shit at each other even if you work together. It used to be about talent, now is about gossip. Is even funny how the video's title is about Betty's relationship with Bea, when the subject was talked about for ten seconds more or less. Drama sells.
Joan Crawford. and Bettie Davis had one of the most talked about feuds in Hollywood. Basically the only difference between now and then is social media/the internet. People are people at the end of the day. Not everyone will like you, that's just human nature.
It’s October, and Betty is still alive. 2020 isn’t a total write-off 🙏🏼 Edit: It’s January 1st 2021 and I didn’t jinx it! She’s unjinxable 🙌🏼 Edit 2: December 31st 2021 - RIP to a true class act. Thank-you for years of entertainment ❤️❤️❤️
xScreamfinity Do you have to swear? It really lowers everything :( There's plenty of nice comments about Betty. You come along, and although with a sort of nice one too, spoil it with swearing. It isn't needed (yes i swear myself)
Elek Ekberg OK, mom. We can express our fucking selves cause we are adults. Read the studies that discuss how intelligent people quite often swear and are prone to love the drink.
I've just stared watching the Golden Girls this year. It's sad to think Betty is the only one left. But it's great to see her doing so well. And I can understand Estelle's fear of death very well. You don't know what happens at that moment..not a nice thought at all.
***** That's true. In the end she forgot about that fear, lucky for her. But, when you still know you have it, it's not nice. It's not nice for the relatives too.
The bible says you can know where you go after you die. Jesus said " He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Trust Jesus as your lord & savior. Repent of your sins & live for Jesus. He died on a cross that we might have eternal life.
It's a nice story. LOTR has a good one after death too. Truth is, nobody *knows* until they die. (Though arguably, an MRI has some pretty compelling evidence.)
I’m sad and not sad at the same time, Ms. Betty lived a great life up to 99 years old that is a blessing. As my grandma would have said “she is made out of good material”. R.I.p Ms. Betty
What a lovely interview. Both women played off each other well and had an intellectual conversation that went beyond “what’s your favorite role”. RIP Betty, you will always be missed.
@@amehka5416 She wouldn't let it go, like she thinks the public is entitled to that information. We're not. Edit: to be fair this a gossip show and that is a sad enough commentary on our culture.
patricia gatlin there are a Million things she could've asked her: about the golden girls, about her days on Mary Tyler Moore show, about keys to surviving a Hollywood career over decades, over some of the changes she's seen in her lifetime, she could've asked her about the golden girls or plays she appears in... but no: she asked about outing a gay/bisexual actor (Grant) who died decades ago, which is irrelevant in this context and about a flamboyant gay performer Liberace who had nothing to do with Betty's career or life. Completely random, ridiculous questions just in order to create sensationalism. So tacky and it's because of people like the screeching Joy Behar in the media that America is in decline. Pure Vulgarity.
Really though, according to Bea Arthur's son, she did like Betty. They just approached showbusiness differently. Betty liked to talk to the audience between shots, Bea liked to stay in character and not engage the audience between shots, etc. Really just Bea was more old school, but they did get along.
1kudzuking It does seem confusing, at first, whether Betty was referring to her mother or to Estelle. If you go back and listen to it a time or two I think you will determine (as I have) that Betty was saying that her mother often used that phrase but then Betty shifts her thought and her tone back to the death of Estelle and says "now SHE (meaning Estelle) knows the secret. At least that is how I'm interpreting it after listening to it a few times. Who knows? I'm often wrong!! Regardless, it IS a beautiful sentiment.
Me and my granny used to always watch the Golden Girls when I was a young girl. It is so sad that all of them have passed on but I wish I could thank them for being a friend ❤️
You might be interested and maybe relieved to know that many questions on talk shows like this are discussed and agreed upon before the cameras roll. Some might think it takes away the “magic” or whatever, but it’s actually a courtesy to the guest, to ensure they’re prepared to talk, make any statements they need to make, and happy to come back on the show.

I totally agree!
Bea Arthur didn't like Betty because Betty had a Star in the Walk of Fame and she didn't.

“It’s none of our business!” Love Betty - so respectful of everyone and her past colleagues.
Betty White is proof that the good do not always die young.
Well said.

@@LazloNQ Is that the Christian version of 'bringing joy and hope' to the world?

Betty White was phenomenal. Not many people exude grace and charm throughout their lives. Fame sometimes corrupts people, but she always stayed classy and sunny. She was enjoyable to watch, because she brought her sunshine with her to her performances and brightened all that saw her.

Plus, I just finished reading story interviews from the Empty Nest cast. You know, the show that was spun off from the Golden Girls. The cast talks about their experiences working with Bea on their show or just being on the same sound stage. It was also confirmed that Bea could not STAND Betty, unfortunately.

JhomasE That is sad. It almost sounds like Betty and Bea were the closest to truly being like their characters.
Even if you were in your 60s you wouldn't be too old. Age is in your head. And you said you're in a blur. So, give yourself time to trust life again. Please forgive me if I respond to your suffering piece by piece. Am only trying to help. I am a woman, but have been "there" where suffering lives. Take care & stay safe. @M M B I am pretty sure your wife's been wanting to leave you for some time but needed an excuse. Most likely to screw around with that other guy. But remember your a dude so use that to your advantage get yourself a younger girl. Many girls love older men.
This interview went from “did everyone in golden girls get along?” To “do you believe in Hell?”
Way to pay attention I guess.

Watching this, I caught myself smiling listening to Betty White speak. She is a class act. So kind hearted. So funny.
My grandma just turned 97 in January and Betty white talks just like her..
It’s kind of sad when people assume that because you’re the oldest means you’ll die first. Betty, I believe is still alive because she’s always happy and optimistic and she’s always thinking of others. There will never be another Betty White.
Absolutely!
Until today…🙏 rip
And how would you know? You are just going by hearsay.
Me, too. Sometimes, my jaded 19 year old watches it with me, and she thinks their funny. Usually, she doesn't like the old shows that I used to watch when I was a teen, twenty something, and thirty something. But, she likes the Golden Girls.
HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW? WHERE YOU THERE? IF BETTY SAID WHAT SHE SAID, I THINK I WOULD TAKE HER ON HER WORD.
I guess Jon people like that don't like that people who gives interesting insight. Don't worry I agree with you :)
I love her she was the epitome of wit and grace. She will be forever missed.
Hello Rebecca how are you doing today?....Betty is such an amazing soul she was so selfless and kind of love everyone around her....what do you think about Betty and her lifestyle?
Betty still looks great. What an amazing lady.
Oh no, I cry now 😭
Show bussiness back then: co-stars didn't like each other personally, but respected each other and kept it professional. Now, everything is about catfights and throwing shit at each other even if you work together. It used to be about talent, now is about gossip. Is even funny how the video's title is about Betty's relationship with Bea, when the subject was talked about for ten seconds more or less. Drama sells.
P.S. Betty White is amazing
Karla Padilla I thought she meant at first from what i know they all grew to be great friends

+Karla Padilla Or they don't make their scenes in the same room. I'm looking at you, Julianna Margulies.
Joan Crawford. and Bettie Davis had one of the most talked about feuds in Hollywood. Basically the only difference between now and then is social media/the internet. People are people at the end of the day. Not everyone will like you, that's just human nature.
What a great interview, what a life this woman had, God bless her soul.

It’s October, and Betty is still alive. 2020 isn’t a total write-off 🙏🏼

Edit 2: December 31st 2021 - RIP to a true class act. Thank-you for years of entertainment ❤️❤️❤️
Shut the fuck up. 2020 will hear you.
Why they hell did you just put that out there.
😂😂 ok ok you’re right I TAKE IT BACK!
If she dies this year I’ll blame you
@@BandlerChing delete the comment, don’t jinx it!
Betty was loved because she was so kind to everyone. She made you feel happy. Even joy tried to watch her manners.
How the fuck can you not like Betty White. That doesn't make sense.
Not a surprise...people even hate babies, air, living...if it can be identified then someone in the world will find a reason to hate it.
modernmarvel #true hahahahahaha
xScreamfinity Do you have to swear? It really lowers everything :( There's plenty of nice comments about Betty. You come along, and although with a sort of nice one too, spoil it with swearing. It isn't needed (yes i swear myself)
Elek Ekberg OK, mom. We can express our fucking selves cause we are adults. Read the studies that discuss how intelligent people quite often swear and are prone to love the drink.
xScreamfinity love Betty, can't stand Joy...now I'm off to Hulu for a GG marathon.
+DutchHPfan1992 ...you do know if you are saved/born again Dutch. Well at least that you make heaven
if you are.
It's a nice story. LOTR has a good one after death too. Truth is, nobody *knows* until they die. (Though arguably, an MRI has some pretty compelling evidence.)
+mysonruns idiot!
She is a lovely human being.
I’m sad and not sad at the same time, Ms. Betty lived a great life up to 99 years old that is a blessing. As my grandma would have said “she is made out of good material”. R.I.p Ms. Betty
Did anyone notice when the reporter asked about death, Betty was like "ya know my mother-"
It's like Rose with her St Olaf stories! 💖😂
Loved the St Olaf stories :-)
calihartley2010 haha yes, the Sicily stories were amazing
omg bless his comment

I thought the exact same 👏😂💜
Living angel hope she’s reunited with her love and the rest of the golden girls ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a lovely interview. Both women played off each other well and had an intellectual conversation that went beyond “what’s your favorite role”. RIP Betty, you will always be missed.
I agree. Joy has haters, but so what -- she's mouthy and opinionated. And a total role model for this here introvert. You go, gurl.
I loved how she embraced everyone! Just learning more about her now. What an awesome human being. I wish that there were more people like her.
Who doesn’t love Betty White? She’s just love and joy personified.
To be fair, she's not that Joy personified, Joy is just awful. 🤣
Facts
Betty is like everyones loveable Grama. It will be a deep loss when she leaves us and discovers the secret. I adore you Betty! You are fabulous!!
Sattnin77 very well said!
Sattnin77 Indeed. Well put.
Betty White should make a perfume line for mature women and call it 'Secret'
Too bad she never had children
Wow, Joy. Just have to dig up dirt huh? I've never seen someone so inappropriately named.
What did you think she was going to ask her?
@@amehka5416 She wouldn't let it go, like she thinks the public is entitled to that information. We're not.
Edit: to be fair this a gossip show and that is a sad enough commentary on our culture.
patricia gatlin there are a
Million things she could've asked her: about the golden girls, about her days on Mary Tyler Moore show, about keys to surviving a Hollywood career over decades, over some of the changes she's seen in her lifetime, she could've asked her about the golden girls or plays she appears in... but no: she asked about outing a gay/bisexual actor (Grant) who died decades ago, which is irrelevant in this context and about a flamboyant gay performer Liberace who had nothing to do with Betty's career or life. Completely random, ridiculous questions just in order to create sensationalism. So tacky and it's because of people like the screeching Joy Behar in the media that America is in decline. Pure Vulgarity.
@@stmichl9433 correct. Insulting inappropriate and offensive
Really though, according to Bea Arthur's son, she did like Betty. They just approached showbusiness differently. Betty liked to talk to the audience between shots, Bea liked to stay in character and not engage the audience between shots, etc. Really just Bea was more old school, but they did get along.
Dont know why, but when she said Estelle now knows "the secret", I couldnt help but get teary eyed because thats the sweetest thing Ive ever heard!
It really was ! :')
I think she was referring to her mother not sure tho
Paul Simpson I think you are right. She was telling about what her mother had told her.
Jimmy Lollar more importantly, WHO CARES!!
Boy Betty had such a great outlook on everything. U cud just c how genuine she was. She was amazing.

Betty is a class act. May God bless her for many more years.
Joy Behar is so incredibly rude. Who asks an older woman tons of questions about death? Talk about classless.
She treats her like a person. Simmer down
@Thunder Bird What an incredible rebuttal.
Why, we're all going to die. She's an adult she can handle it
You might be interested and maybe relieved to know that many questions on talk shows like this are discussed and agreed upon before the cameras roll. Some might think it takes away the “magic” or whatever, but it’s actually a courtesy to the guest, to ensure they’re prepared to talk, make any statements they need to make, and happy to come back on the show.
She interrupted her, i'm not a fan of that interview style .
She’s a national treasure. Rest in Power Betty!
A treasure of humanity
This host was determined to speak of negativity. BETTY WAS THE EPITOME OF CLASS , GRACE, HIP, AND JOYFUL AND HAPPY. My child is blessed to have a Nana like her..exactly like her. Crying over Betty's passing. 😢

@@againstthepods4316 …you abandoned your child for two days because a celebrity died? I’m sorry if that sounds insensitive, Betty white was a wonderful person, but your priorities sound very skewed
@Rebecca Friedman she made the same comment elsewhere, I wasn't 10% as nice about as you were. I ripped into her.
Love Betty White...she seems like a truly good soul.
Betty is proof that if you're kind and talented you can have a long career... and I can't think of anyone who has had a longer career than Betty, who's been on TV pretty much since it's inception. She is and will always be amazing
Love this interview. Such a wonderful lady. Beautiful inside and out. There will never be another Betty White. She certainly was our golden Girl. Loved her and miss her very much. I don't think that I ever cried as much for any other star as I did when she passed. The world lost a true angel. Thanks for being a friend.
Hello Marian how do you do?...well for the records Betty has been a blessing to this generation and she has forth a good fight for herself....what do you think about this interview?
Betty White is definitely a living legend. There's not even a slight feeling of flashy or ego with her. God Bless her!
Why would you ask ANY "old" person, "Are you Afraid of Death"??? ~ O.O
Ted Green, Joy is no spring chicken herself.
Sorry for being two years late with a reply but heres the Answer. Because it is said that you grow wiser with age, Thus Old people who are closer to Death have a more clear understanding of what Death is and life in General, Compared to an inexperienced young adult. Why not ask them? We know they are going to die soon, They know it as well, They know and have a more clear Understanding of Death (Since having seen a lot of people in their life die).
Ted Green because she's next.
I can see you're point, and I think its a stupid question, too, but, then, why not ask it? Probably couldn't think of anything else to ask her.
Robert Lofgren, You are right , Joy is an old woman herself. She is 75 years old.
Betty White is a timeless beauty.
Maybe it's because of her Greek heritage
Her eyes actually sparkle
Absolutely :) with a heart of gold.
Still watch those reruns. What talent. Never again will such a group of artists compare. Rip to all of them. Thank you for all the laughter!
Even as a kid I loved watching Golden Girls, to date. I'm guessing "Rose" outlived them all being the eldest coz she is chill. Both on and off stage.
She had her head frozen!
I had no idea Estelle was so afraid of death. That really makes me sad knowing she played the oldest person and constantly had scenes discussing death. Must’ve been so difficult for her 😢
She was also the first Golden Girl to pass away….
I hope she is in in Heaven she was so funny she was actually my favorite golden girl.

She was just as sarcastic as Maude too😀
Eileen Pizarro Ahhhh Dorothy Zbornak! I love that woman!

My heart hurts betty white was the last link I had to my mother. My mother died. 19 years ago and my Fondest Memories Are of her watching Golden Girls with me. I was born in 1986 so you can only imagine the episodes I do remember. Betty White AKA Rose what's my mom's favorite character besides Estelle Getty LOL either way my mom died when I was 17, and I had my first daughter 30. Long story short my daughter is in love with the Golden Girls theme and loves Betty White. She is 5 and nonverbal autistic and loves the not only the theme song to golden girls but when she sees Betty White. her passing just makes life more indivisible but at the same time appreciable because of people like her. God bless Betty White and thank you for the memories of the good lessons that I've learned and that I can teach my children. To humanitarian, good person, inspiration, and just all-around good person thank you Betty White, thank you for being a friend. Happy 100th birthday
