Yes, but that saying isn't literal. It means the good die young at heart. All good people die young at heart because they don't have anything to fear from death. When you die hardened from the years, you die old. When you die just as enthusiastically and full of optimism as a child, you die young. The bad will always die old because they're worried about punishment for their ill deeds.
The story about her mother is truly something special. She was always so optimistic about even the darkest of things. Rest well Betty. You filled a world of such hate with so much love and we will greatly miss you. 🌹

@@ingridfong-daley5899 Not exactly. First of all, Ecclesiastes is a book from the Hebrew Bible which is also one of the "wisdom books" in the Old Testament. It was written about 300 years before Jesus Christ. Also, he didn't write the entire verse. It says "“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.” Solomon wrote this book from an entirely EARTHLY perspective. In its most simplistic terms, it means that the dead can no longer enjoy or be rewarded for their activities in THIS life. If you read the entire book, Solomon says in 4:2 that the dead are happier than the living. But, when a person is dead, the opportunities to enjoy things on earth no longer exist. Its not a passage of gloom and doom.
She made sure it was a better place for animals but with people she couldn't care less. All that age and just as niev as the rest of the self-righteous so called women on the view.
I remember watching Lake Placid. I've only watched it once. My heart about leaped out of my chest when I heard Betty White drop the F bomb. I think I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I remember both my husband and I staring at each other in disbelief that Betty White actually said that word. Think we sat there for a good 10 minutes stunned. Granted I do say that word, but it was just something about hearing it come out of Betty Whites mouth. I've never been able to watch that movie again.
Topher S I was going through the comments and saw yours. No, I don't remember her on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Actually, I didn't even know that she was involved with that show. When I get a chance, I'll have to check it out. Someone else commented that she was in a movie called Lake Placid ( which I've not seen either) and that she "dropped the F bomb!" Yikes! I'll have to check that out as well! I have seen a few episodes of a show called "Hot in Cleveland" that she acted in and her role was much more risky. But no matter what she's in, I'm a fan. I think she's a wonderful actress!

I always feel kind of gross when I chime in with a negative person. I think, 'What was the point to all that except now I feel even worse'. Better to stay positive.
She is very lucky in that she has a very pert shiksa nose, wide doe eyes and a strong willingness to confidently showcase her femininity. No doubt this was because she was born at home (how quaint), fed her mothers milk until she was 2 years old (which beautified and feminised her). She was no doubt fed a very simple diet of red meat, potatoes and oatmeal even in sunny california. Her sweet Norwegian ancestry also helps!! She is the ultimate aryan doll!!
She’s an Angel. I couldn’t stop sobbing laying on my kitchen floor right when I read the news. Was even supposed to pick up my little boy from day care at 4 that day but I just couldn’t and couldn’t even take calls. He stayed at one the workers house for two nights since they couldn’t reach so now everything is fine. THATS how much I love her I couldn’t deal
No offense to Bea, but I suspect she didn't like Betty just because Betty was so happy. I used to identify more with Bea, but now I'm more of a Betty. When you're a very unhappy person (through no fault of your own), there's something about people who are just happy that confuses and kind of angers you. Even when you try to hide it, the happy person notices your annoyance at their happiness. I'm glad I figured out the happiness thing, or at least I'm working on it. I lucked into the right therapy.
What a wonderful thing to share. THank you. Interesting to admire how Betty couldn't care less about who slept with whom, but Joy Behar just wouldn't let it go. Seemed kinda petty and gossipy, while Betty just soared away on the high road. Makes you love 'animals' all the more.

Betty White was phenomenal. Not many people exude grace and charm throughout their lives. Fame sometimes corrupts people, but she always stayed classy and sunny. She was enjoyable to watch, because she brought her sunshine with her to her performances and brightened all that saw her. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Hello Serena how are you doing today? I love how even when Bea didn't like Betty she still respected her for her talent and Betty even thought Bea never liked her she has such love for her and all of that cast. May they all rest in peace.
Betty White was a high priestess in the Church of Satan. She was the Satanic Queen of Hollywood. You didn't get to be famous in LA without Betty's approval.
Love you Betty . If you can tell me the secret I'll be still and listen. If you can't tell me I certainly hope I see you in the next go round . I will be in the best of company.
I noticed Betty was ignoring or skillfully waving aside some things that the interviewer was saying. I absolutely love that. There's too much hatred in the world.
Joy: Let's talk about people being gay. Betty: I don't care about that as long as people are decent and kind. Joy: Right. So let's continue to talk about people being gay.
Joy is too dense to pick up on the concept Betty was talking about. She's also not a good interviewer since she stays stuck on what she wants and ignores the interviewee.
What an absolutely wonderful woman. It's so rare that someone can live as long as she did without anyone having a bad thing to say about them. It seems that absolutely everyone who encountered her just loved her. What a loss that she's gone. I hope there is something after this life, and that I get to encounter her in some way.

Hello Crystal how are you doing today?......I love how even when Bea didn't like Betty she still respected her for her talent and Betty even thought Bea never liked her she has such love for her and all of that cast. May they all rest in peace.
Exactly what would Bea need to defend herself against? Did Betty say she was an evil witch? No. She merely said Bea wasn't fond of her. Nowhere in this interview did she bash Bea Arthur in any way, shape or form.
Plus, I just finished reading story interviews from the Empty Nest cast. You know, the show that was spun off from the Golden Girls. The cast talks about their experiences working with Bea on their show or just being on the same sound stage. It was also confirmed that Bea could not STAND Betty, unfortunately.
DaxShaw I agree. What is so wrong in stating that you know someone does/didn't like you? She didn't elaborate or give any specifics or details, just made a statement.
JhomasE That is sad. It almost sounds like Betty and Bea were the closest to truly being like their characters. That is probably part of the reason why any scenes involving the two of them seemed authentic...most especially the Saint Olaf stories...lol!!!! Life imitating art, or art imitating life, I guess! 😉
Betty was petite, very cute, funny and charming. Bea was big, gawky, had a manly voice and look about her and had an angry vibe about her. I think Bea's problem with Betty was mostly jealousy.
Well, the problem with celebrities and TV shows is no one knows what goes on behind the cameras except the actors. They can act like they love each other on the show and hate each other in real life. Look at Linda Evans and Joan Collins. They were friends long before Dynasty and were friends in the beginning years of Dynasty, but something happened and they ended up hating one another.
I loved how Betty responds to Joy’s attempts to talk about gay movie stars, etc, and Betty is like, “I really could care less” if the person is a good, kind human. You tell it Betty! Class act and I miss you already. ❤️💐
That was truly the best part. It shows how authentic she was as a person. Meanwhile, Joy can't shut up about the superficial topic. Betty had a heart of gold. 💛
Yeah, sure Betty says "I don't care who you sleep with.", but then you wait for her naked in her dressing room and it's all "Who the hell are you?" and "I'm calling the police!"

Show bussiness back then: co-stars didn't like each other personally, but respected each other and kept it professional. Now, everything is about catfights and throwing shit at each other even if you work together. It used to be about talent, now is about gossip. Is even funny how the video's title is about Betty's relationship with Bea, when the subject was talked about for ten seconds more or less. Drama sells.
Joan Crawford. and Bettie Davis had one of the most talked about feuds in Hollywood. Basically the only difference between now and then is social media/the internet. People are people at the end of the day. Not everyone will like you, that's just human nature.
Betty White has to be an angel. She is wise, Shes funny, Shes caring, Shes open minded and very intelligent. Wealthy but very grounded, I hope she stays around for another 50 years!
I read somewhere about Saturday Night Live-Betty White, Madonna and Tina Turner didn't need to use the monitors to read their lines in the skits. They memorized all their lines in the skits they were in. Watch Coffee Talk with Madonna and she delivers her lines like she's just talking naturally.
Betty was just confirming what Rue McClanahan told everyone before she passed. It's not that Bea disliked Betty, I think Betty just got on her nerves sometimes. Conflict of personalities. They both admired and respected each other immensely on a professional level. Bea and Betty were polar opposites as far as personalities go so it's not unexpected that sometimes Betty's super sweet personality would grate on Bea's more reserved personality's nerves. Betty didn't say anything negative about Bea here, went on to say how much she admired and respected her. Love them both - they made magic together on screen along with Rue and Estelle. I still watch Golden Girls to this day. No other show matches it's level. Hot In Cleveland is also good since its great to see Betty on TV regularly with an ensemble of women, but it's vastly different from Golden Girls.
Bea initially turned down Golden Girls because she thought Betty was the put up to be the star - so it seems she didn't like her even before they worked together. But that happens - a lot of people say they don;t like someone who's famous despite the fact they don't know them as a person
Me, too. Sometimes, my jaded 19 year old watches it with me, and she thinks their funny. Usually, she doesn't like the old shows that I used to watch when I was a teen, twenty something, and thirty something. But, she likes the Golden Girls.
Such a happy, genuine soul. We will miss you Betty. A few weeks shy of her 100th birthday, what a long life! May you continue to make others laugh in the after life, now you know the secret 🙏🏼
Sorry for being two years late with a reply but heres the Answer. I've just stared watching the Golden Girls this year. It's sad to think Betty is the only one left. But it's great to see her doing so well. And I can understand Estelle's fear of death very well. You don't know what happens at that moment..not a nice thought at all.
***** That's true. In the end she forgot about that fear, lucky for her. But, when you still know you have it, it's not nice. It's not nice for the relatives too.
The bible says you can know where you go after you die. Jesus said " He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Trust Jesus as your lord & savior. Repent of your sins & live for Jesus. He died on a cross that we might have eternal life.
It's a nice story. LOTR has a good one after death too. Truth is, nobody *knows* until they die. (Though arguably, an MRI has some pretty compelling evidence.)
You might be interested and maybe relieved to know that many questions on talk shows like this are discussed and agreed upon before the cameras roll. Some might think it takes away the “magic” or whatever, but it’s actually a courtesy to the guest, to ensure they’re prepared to talk, make any statements they need to make, and happy to come back on the show.
Betty is proof that if you're kind and talented you can have a long career... and I can't think of anyone who has had a longer career than Betty, who's been on TV pretty much since it's inception. She is and will always be amazing
As someone who has a very upbeat friend, sometimes it's hard to take. Doesn't mean Bea truly didn't like Betty, just means sometimes your having a day where "sunshine, lollypops&rainbows" is hard to take...
I heard years ago that Bea Arthur wasn't fond of Donna Reed either because her happiness and positive outlook on life. I didn't see many episodes of _The Golden Girls_ but I was a fan of _The Mary Tyler Moore Show_ . Bea seemed to have a problem with small petite blondes then. I get it. I’m a tallish brunette who gets overlooked for such petite blondes. I could dye my hair but I’ve done that and ruined it lol I don’t go hating on anyone tbh but it’s disheartening how society favors certain types of girls.

Especially when talking about her co-workers. Death is a touchy subject and I am not going to talk about it with someone in their 90s when they are the last one standing unless they bring it up.
Oh come on you guys! They're all friends there and both elderly women, it's a legitimate topic to address for the benefit of the audience, people would like an example of how positive an attitude to death one can have, even in their 90s.

You don't know that. We'll never know the truth. Bea can't defend herself because she's not here anymore. This whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. Betty should not have even mentioned this Bea Arthur business; and because of Betty's revelation, many people will merely consider Bea a cold mean grouch and nothing more. Maybe Bea wasn't loving and affectionate on the set. Betty never said she was mean or harsh. I love Betty but the better thing to have done was not even talk about it.
@@eduardo_corrochio Betty was speaking her own truth and there's no harm or shame in that. She wasn't being disparaging of Bea; only expressing her point of view. I have a great deal of respect for Bea Arthur as an actress but feel like she had a big chip on her shoulder and looked down her nose at a lot of people. However, my opinion is based on things she has said herself in interviews and not on what anyone else has said about her.
I love how the interviewer was talking about odd topics and how Betty redirected her by saying that it wasn’t her business and that she didn’t care how people were. I’ve always loved her.
Why do we have to regurgitate this? No matter how lovely a person is, not everyone will like that person. Betty White did have a wonderful perspective; she acknowledged that Bea didn’t like her, she didn’t know why and it didn’t stop either of them from behaving in a professional manner to produce a wonderful show. We have all heard this before and since both have passed we will never have any true insight into what the root of it is. How about if instead of this being reposted a few hundred different times we actually honor the talent they brought to any of their roles and how they improved the world one laugh at a time? While I hadn’t been a big fan of many game shows in the 60’s-70’s I have greatly appreciated being able to go back now and watch her and Her husband together as well as some great clips from her different sitcoms.
Betty White off screen is said to be a sweet lady. Bea was a funny lady on camera but wasn't a happy or nice person. I guarantee that there are some choice words people have had to say about me at different times and am i going to deny that I haven't made mistakes. Like Pele said "Everything is Practice" I think a key is this. Do i have a right to be upset do to someone elses behavior and call them out on it if i find it disrepectful to me sure but theres a flipside and that is am I open enough to judge myself the same way, to be open to that same criticism that i gave them. Am I open enough to practice changing that about me? Am i sharing the information with the right person or am i just telling everyone elsr cause i want to attack them? Am i seeing my own behaviour through open eyes that day? Some people will behave badly on multiple occasions. Are we looking at the situation as a whole and i know many times i am not. I have also made my accusations. I dont think celebrities should be unaccountable but they make mistakes just like we do and by that I am only referring to what may be simply considered as simply rude or simply not nice as I want to keep this in the context of the aforementioned behaviour.
Ahliy[Pronounced Ah-Lee] Well, a few have terrible reputations (Chevy Chase, for example, is supposed to be insufferably nasty!) but others are super nice by all accounts. So very tacky.... I guess that's what she feels she need to get her ratings up. Wise & classy Betty wasn't having it.
I always feel kind of gross when I chime in with a negative person. I think, 'What was the point to all that except now I feel even worse'. Better to stay positive.
Class act all around.
After 99 years Betty finally knows the secret. R.I.P. to one of the best people who ever lived.

The story I heard, is Bea liked to stay in character at all times, Betty did not. Bea felt Betty wasn't serious enough. Pretty petty to be honest
@@BRockIITWi I mean, her character was pretty mean to Betty's character, so maybe that's why she didn't like her. 😂🤣
What a wonderful thing to share. THank you. Interesting to admire how Betty couldn't care less about who slept with whom, but Joy Behar just wouldn't let it go. Seemed kinda petty and gossipy, while Betty just soared away on the high road. Makes you love 'animals' all the more.

"And it's none of our business!"
THANK YOU, Betty!
And how would you know? You are just going by hearsay.
Me, too. Sometimes, my jaded 19 year old watches it with me, and she thinks their funny. Usually, she doesn't like the old shows that I used to watch when I was a teen, twenty something, and thirty something. But, she likes the Golden Girls.

I remember hearing her share her mother’s philosophy on death a while back and when I heard the news about Betty, I cried a little but was like well she knows the secret now. Rip Betty 💕
“I can’t believe I’m the only one left, I’m the oldest which is so silly”
And she’s still here a decade later. Pretty sure Betty is going to outlive me.
I’m 35.
R u still there
0:19 - 0:22: Well, sadly, not anymore, Betty. You’re with the Golden Girls, Allen Ludden, and everyone else. We’ll miss you.
@Hol M I think she’ll be with Rue they were close
Maybe there is some truth in having a positive outlook that helps you lead a long life.
Maybe.
I think so. My grandpa lived to be 94 and he was the most laid back, go with the flow, positive man I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. He was pure joy and I believe that’s what helped him live such a long and healthy life.
I've been binge watching the golden girls... The scene where they all talk about growing older..and betty white says "what happens when there's only one of us left?" 😭😭😭😭
That broke my heart i cried
Yeeesss! I watch this series often, and that scene always causes me to pause. But then Sophia says, "Don't worry...I can take care of myself." 😂 It was the perfect levity to a sad moment.
@@ThriftDiving yes that sounds like something my own mom would say. Always bringing the light heartedness to those somber moments!
I can't watch the GG because of Arthur. She is terrible.
I’ve spent all my birthdays turning a year older with Betty White and now it’s sad knowing I’ll never have that luxury ever again! May this lovely icon of a woman rest in peace!
HBD 🥳 🎂
Me too January 18th and hers is 17th
Wonderful woman! Even though she was nearly 100, she's gone too soon.
Joy Behar seems to ruin the moment a few times ... tabloid.
I agree. Distasteful, classless.
@@lemostjoyousrenegade That goes to show you how television's standards have fallen when they hire people like Joy Behar, who has no class.
Betty White = classy. Joy Behar = not so much.
Louis G Both are very classy ladies.
Joy sucks. Always has, always will. Can't stand anything she says or stands for.
GRACE ICAM...so true. LOVE BETTY and JOY.
count me in with grace post. i agree with her too, eva. haters of joy behar VIEW will remain hater who cares. love joy, and 1 of the best intervievws! love GOLDEN GIRLS i still lmfao at most of them each night on HALLMARK. and or tv land. love it.
I like Joy, but "You outed Cary Grant" is not class.
I love how she put the concept of knowing what happens at death, and that those people who have died know now what happens.
Big surprise for the majority I’m sure
Me and my granny used to always watch the Golden Girls when I was a young girl. It is so sad that all of them have passed on but I wish I could thank them for being a friend ❤️
Bea was very jealous because Betty was such a nice person and loved by everyone.
There are personalized types that just set you off. It's not always jealousy. I can't stand vanity or greedy people. They irrirate the hell out of me.
If you watch Bea Arther's intimate portrait it gives you more insight into who she was as a person
@@diamondheart1580 omg she was a bad woman??
I just love Betty and her intelligent and kind/caring outlook on life.
Betty White off screen is said to be a sweet lady. Bea was a funny lady on camera but wasn't a happy or nice person. Most of the funniest comedians aren't/weren't nice in real life and those who played villains, were generally nicer. Betty White was just being honest and if you watch this clip she basically was light hearted and goes by the phrase "live and let live". Classy
Very true. I just finished reading some interviews with the cast of the spinoff "Empty Nest". Actors Dinah Manoff, David Leisure and Park Overall had some things to say about Bea as GG and EN shared the same soundstage. Bea hated when people chewed gum. Plus, they mention in their individual interviews that Bea did not like Betty. Park says "Bea could not STAND Betty. Check out Emptynestonline.net. You will get more details.
Is it really true that comedians generally aren't nice people off camera?

I think we forget sometimes that they are human too. People may not always be there persona as on tv but hell I practice being decent .It doesnt mean that i dont have issue.
I think the stereotype (which seems true) is that comedians are often very complicated, unhappy people. A lot of them seem profoundly insecure and/or wounded inside.
Ok
I love Betty! “ it is none of our business.”………exactly.
