    • @fartkerson
      @fartkerson 4 года назад +83

      Yes, but that saying isn't literal. It means the good die young at heart. All good people die young at heart because they don't have anything to fear from death. When you die hardened from the years, you die old. When you die just as enthusiastically and full of optimism as a child, you die young. The bad will always die old because they're worried about punishment for their ill deeds.

      @@ingridfong-daley5899 Not exactly. First of all, Ecclesiastes is a book from the Hebrew Bible which is also one of the "wisdom books" in the Old Testament. It was written about 300 years before Jesus Christ. Also, he didn't write the entire verse. It says "“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.” Solomon wrote this book from an entirely EARTHLY perspective. In its most simplistic terms, it means that the dead can no longer enjoy or be rewarded for their activities in THIS life. If you read the entire book, Solomon says in 4:2 that the dead are happier than the living. But, when a person is dead, the opportunities to enjoy things on earth no longer exist. Its not a passage of gloom and doom.

      I remember watching Lake Placid. I've only watched it once.
      My heart about leaped out of my chest when I heard Betty White drop the F bomb.
      I think I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I remember both my husband and I staring at each other in disbelief that Betty White actually said that word.
      Think we sat there for a good 10 minutes stunned. Granted I do say that word, but it was just something about hearing it come out of Betty Whites mouth.
      I've never been able to watch that movie again.

I'll have to check that out as well! I have seen a few episodes of a show called "Hot in Cleveland" that she acted in and her role was much more risky. But no matter what she's in, I'm a fan. No doubt this was because she was born at home (how quaint), fed her mothers milk until she was 2 years old (which beautified and feminised her). No offense to Bea, but I suspect she didn't like Betty just because Betty was so happy. I used to identify more with Bea, but now I'm more of a Betty. When you're a very unhappy person (through no fault of your own), there's something about people who are just happy that confuses and kind of angers you. Even when you try to hide it, the happy person notices your annoyance at their happiness.

    Betty was just confirming what Rue McClanahan told everyone before she passed. It's not that Bea disliked Betty, I think Betty just got on her nerves sometimes. Conflict of personalities. They both admired and respected each other immensely on a professional level. Bea and Betty were polar opposites as far as personalities go so it's not unexpected that sometimes Betty's super sweet personality would grate on Bea's more reserved personality's nerves. Betty didn't say anything negative about Bea here, went on to say how much she admired and respected her. Love them both - they made magic together on screen along with Rue and Estelle. I still watch Golden Girls to this day. No other show matches it's level. Hot In Cleveland is also good since its great to see Betty on TV regularly with an ensemble of women, but it's vastly different from Golden Girls.

      Bea initially turned down Golden Girls because she thought Betty was the put up to be the star - so it seems she didn't like her even before they worked together. But that happens - a lot of people say they don;t like someone who's famous despite the fact they don't know them as a person

    Why do we have to regurgitate this? No matter how lovely a person is, not everyone will like that person. Betty White did have a wonderful perspective; she acknowledged that Bea didn’t like her, she didn’t know why and it didn’t stop either of them from behaving in a professional manner to produce a wonderful show.
    We have all heard this before and since both have passed we will never have any true insight into what the root of it is. How about if instead of this being reposted a few hundred different times we actually honor the talent they brought to any of their roles and how they improved the world one laugh at a time?
    While I hadn’t been a big fan of many game shows in the 60’s-70’s I have greatly appreciated being able to go back now and watch her and Her husband together as well as some great clips from her different sitcoms.

      I think we forget sometimes that they are human too. People may not always be there persona as on tv but hell I practice being decent .It doesnt mean that i dont have issue. I guarantee that there are some choice words people have had to say about me at different times and am i going to deny that I haven't made mistakes. Like Pele said "Everything is Practice" I think a key is this. Do i have a right to be upset do to someone elses behavior and call them out on it if i find it disrepectful to me sure but theres a flipside and that is am I open enough to judge myself the same way, to be open to that same criticism that i gave them. Am I open enough to practice changing that about me? Am i sharing the information with the right person or am i just telling everyone elsr cause i want to attack them? Am i seeing my own behaviour through open eyes that day? Some people will behave badly on multiple occasions. Are we looking at the situation as a whole and i know many times i am not. I have also made my accusations. I dont think celebrities should be unaccountable but they make mistakes just like we do and by that I am only referring to what may be simply considered as simply rude or simply not nice as I want to keep this in the context of the aforementioned behaviour.
