It's amazing -- he's been on for 20+ years now. This was his first season. And having Bea on his first season on the air? PURE BRILLIANCE! She was my FAVORITE Golden Girl, ALWAYS & FOREVER. ❤️
Graham really adored Bea, we can see it clearly here. I love that he knew she didn't want to talk about her private life and was shy, so he focused on making her laugh and feel at ease. Thank you for this lovely interview!
She's obviously having a good time! She knows British humor, and she knew what she was getting into when she flew hours on a plane to get there! She looked so happy!
and ... even barefoot, Bea stood radiantly above everyone on premises. I recall when I met her In Chicago back in 1980, how surprised I was that she was almost my height.
Bea Arthur, wow... Just so quick and witty yet so elegant and timeless all at the same time. Just such a beautiful being she was. R.I.P. Bea. U are still the queen!!
That show taught older women that they were still fine, attractive and can still turn heads if they keep themselves looking their best whether it's with swears and ponytail or with that little black dress. Sexy is not just about showing skin and don't forget to walk like you own the world..No, they gave these women hope because most women age with their numbers, these women did not even have bdays, did they..I still love that show and boy do I miss the tv era...Pearls and barefoot.
This is the best Bea Arthur interview I've seen. Normally they ask inane questions and miss the flow entirely and it ends up becoming super awkward to watch. Graham, however, just finds the natural flow and you can see it in the relaxed and funny responses from Bea. Huge fan of both.
He is so respectful and loving towards Bea 💖 and you pointed it out better than i could; they fit together very well and im so happy Bea got the respect she deserves in this show! 💞 Oh, how i miss those early 00's! 😓
Very smart woman. In the Marines she was a truck driver and typist, left as a staff sergeant in WW2. Trained as medical technologist but didn't like it. Long career as an actress. Bea Arthur could handle anyone or anything! Died at age 86 in 2009.
I remember watching "The Golden Girls" as a kid and not ever wanting to miss it. Even still at 42yrs old I watch it on TV Land whenever it's on and it doesn't matter how many times I've seen each episode, I laugh as hard as I did the first time!
All the complaints and people don't seem to notice how much Bea is enjoying this. She never much liked interviews from what she said in other interviews.
Being a 80s baby who grew up on The Golden Girls, and not seeing a single Maude episode until Bea died, I'm now offended that she is not more known for Maude...
I think Golden Girls was on air for a longer time (more series or seasons) and she got more Emmy nominations for that show. Maude was I think about a decade before GG. Graham Norton seems to have more British accent here than in later seasons.
This is my absolute favorite TV spot with Bea. She's truly enjoying herself here, rather than dragging herself through yet another horrid interview where they ask her stupid questions about her voice or who she liked best out of the GG cast. She hated interviews because she hated talking about herself, so she came off as terribly serious & clipped. Pulling pedal pushing phone pranks with Graham is making her laugh. And she could tell a dirty joke like no other.
Or when Blanche mentions men have more to offer than lesbians, Dorothy says she found that out in 3rd grade when a boy was running for class president and his campaign slogan was “vote for me & I’ll show you my wee wee”
Dorothy Zbornak will always remain my guru of wit and sarcasm. Bea Arthur graciously drop a spoonful of herself into that character and I couldn't thank her more for it. Rest easy you Golden Girl ⚘⚘⚘
This is gold. We need to commemorate these moments. No star today would be as free, honest and open as Bea. This is history of freedom of expression and what we should be able to say. It is a spotlight in the damning on the repressive influences on modern society. It also shows the seed that was sown, on what we are currently reaping 🤦♀️
Thank you SO much for uploading this very funny episode with our beloved Bea Arthur from the Golden Girls! 💞 She's so sweet in responding to that caller and im so happy that this precious, unforgettable, life-changing tv series will never be forgotten and continues being memorised here on RUclips, with both newer and older fans! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 Im one of the original viewers back in the 80s and 90s, i had a website and a forum which stil is alive 😳, wrote all of the Golden Girls cast multiple times when they were still alive and i treasure their response and, most important, keep the attitude and the spirit of both their characters on-screen and off-screen (even if they sometimes denied it, they really were some kind of similar, dont they? 🤔) alive - in my heart, in everyday life and in rewatching all of the episodes plus Golden Palace! 💖 I wish every TRUE fan out there nothing but peace and joy 🕊🌈 and continue the support here and anywhere else, so they really can live _forever_ - they deserve it more than any other sitcom and im looking forward to the day ill meet them all in heaven above!! 💞
I don't know why and if it is true, but she always looks more relaxed and at ease when she's in british TV shows. I remember she said she didn't like interviews and talking about herself made her terribly nervous, that's why she always looked very serious or rude. She is lovely here and she seems to love this weird interview!
Bea was brilliant she had such a great sense of humour and she seemed to really have fun and enjoy our humour. Apparently she loved London and said it was her favourite city
Graham is my favorite show host today! His British humor allows him be REAL and he gives a chill cozy kind of funny. Yet, he’s very proper and charming, which is very English. And he lets them talk!! He gives room for the guests to be themselves. I love him!
So funny... 🙃 And so Golden Girls-like 💞 - always wondered what kind of jokes thed make if the show would have continued a few more years past '92... 🤔
When I saw this woman in Malcolm in the Middle while I was just a kid, I always dreamed of knowing who the actress was. She was a lovely woman and a genius of comedy.

I was thinking yesterday that I wonder if people realize the level of professionalism these ladies had to be able to deliver their lines with straight faces. I mean some of the lines between Bea and Estelle must have been so difficult to keep a straight face. Or listening to Betty telling St Olav stories and not breaking character must have been just as difficult. They might be gone but we will not forget them. 💞
I saw Bea Arthur when she played an angry ghost who is enraged when her living husband was getting married. She was larger than life, had a powerful Singing voice and took over the stage. It was Fiddler on the Roof. I was only about 5 years old. Stayed with me forever. Love her.

Continue resting in peace Bea. 🙏🏾

'Would you destroy it?' - delivered in a way that no one else could deliver such a line. Bless her.
Jim Bob Agreed! So nonchalant! Just beautiful.
It was a fantastic line delivered so well.
She was a one of a kind comedian.
She's obviously having a good time! She knows British humor, and she knew what she was getting into when she flew hours on a plane to get there! She looked so happy!

She's deranged. It's natural for her.
It's a NE/NYC thing...many Brit influenced things never left.
Walks on the stage without shoes. That is how you make a real entrance.

Liche Christ oh my, you met Bea. You're so lucky to met such and amazing woman.
PogoQueen
although I'd commented only on her height, what amazed me more was how cordial and at ease she'd been with her reception.

Bea was quite a lady. Such class, and a wry sense of humour.
