She was a female Marine. One of her performance reviews described her personality and it was pretty much Dorothy all the way. From what I understand, there wasn't much acting involved; for most purposes, Bea WAS Dorothy. And how blessed we all have been because of it. Hand salute!
As I’ve said before, I wish the Golden Girls had aired for fifteen seasons instead of seven. Bea and Betty (not to mention my favorite Rue-Rue) were still so sharp in 2000-2001, their characters could so easily have aged gracefully from 55-70.
I sent Bea Arthur a letter as a 14 year old from Manchester, England. Three weeks later I received a signed photo in return in the post, she didn’t have to do that. As you’re all wondering, I turned out completely straight.

Its from the 90s when Graham was on channel 4! he got a way with so much on the show! once the BBC poached him and he defected he wastnt as funny or near the nuckle i think the bbc had told him to tone it down ( like he couldnt joke about royalty and things like that anymore) henc him having the graham norton show were yes he still makes some jokes but its more a stright up chat show now i still watch it now and then BUT not often!

clearly you don't know Graham Norton. He is not a proper interviewer (certainly not back then) and he knows he isn't. He just casually chats to his guests which is one reason why famous people like him: they know he won't delve deep or try to upset them

Ah!! This was a little hard to watch for a bit. I just can't believe he had just Bea sitting there while he was interviewing/talking to someone else and looking at useless cakes. When you have someone like Bea Arthur, an actress of that type of caliber on your show, a QUEEN like her.... She deserves ever minute. Every SECOND.
Jessica Santillo you do realize this is the 2nd of 2 parts. He talked to Bea before Stephanie came out. Also, people don't seem to be acquainted with Bea's penchant for raunchy humor. Listen to some tracks from her one woman Broadway show.
Bea loved doing Grahams show for that exact reason. She was able to talk and chat but it was light hearted and silly. She hated chat shows generally but loved this one.
I think it was really nice when they used to send people on weekends away rather than just give them the money, it was more special. The American guests were also so impressed when people won citybreaks to Paris and Rome etc.

What in the absolute fuck. He has an absolute legend sitting in front of him and he calls Joe Pedo Schmoe? God, I would have just stood up and walked off. What an INSULTING interview. He clearly doesn't deserve her grace, wit and charm. She was amazingly gracious during that fiasco.
He was soooooooooooo disrespectful!!!! Bea Arthur barely talked!!! He was talking most of the time. (and yes i know Graham Norton). It's like inviting Mahatma Gandi to talk about painting nails and beauty tips!!!
zzindorf, I agree. I bet Bea Arthur and Stephanie Powers we're sorry they agreed to appear on this show. The most ridiculous and idiotic show I have ever seen. That show would never last in the United States.
Graham’s ok-He’s a bit of a tit but he’s funny on occasion I’m not fussed on many Irish or British comedians tbh. American comedy is funnier. Bea was a legend.
Bea's sharp wit here is so reminiscent of Dorothy. No wonder she delivered those one-liners so well.

Oh dear God, I've been in love with Stephanie Powers since she was The Girl From Uncle. She is still breathtaking.

I loved it. I had one too when I was a kid
