The Phillies got lucky enough to get through 1 such team, it would have been asking a whole lot for them to get through two of them. I always said that it would be nearly impossible to beat Justin Verlander two times and Valdez two times. That was what had to happen for them to win the series. I give them credit for getting Verlander once.

I think a lot of us had similar anticipations. He steps up to bat ... I'm thinking, "OK Bryce, this is your moment." If Bryce Harper chokes in the World Series, Phillies fans will be the exact same way.
Honestly his walk-off Grand slam 3 years ago, and his game tying Grand slam made him legendary. How about his MVP season where he nearly drugged the team to the playoffs when they had nothing around him? 2021 and the Phillies not making the playoffs was not Bryce Harper's fault, it was his fault that they were even close. I think last year is what made him a legend. Many times he came up with his team down by one run or the score tied, he flipped the score with his home runs and doubles.
Since I was a kid, I always got goosebumps hearing the call of Thomson's pennant winner at the Polo Grounds. As I got older, it's been just as much fun watching banged up Kirk Gibson battle the great Eckersley for what seemed a half hour before hitting that game winner (really effectively ending that Series in game 1) whether listening to Vin Scully call it or the nearly as great Jack Buck screaming "it's gonna be a home run!!! I don't believe what I just saw!!". But as a Phils fan since Callison won the '64 All Star game with his own dramatic shot (yes, that precise moment), what Harper did yesterday, let's leave out all the cliches, this is the peak of the mountain. Houston better bring its A game to even extend the Series to five. Jump on his back, boys, Bryce is @#$%&%*# locked in. Did you see that at bat. Locked and loaded. "The swing of his life" indeed.

Die hard NY Mets fan here - what an exciting team the Phillies became in the playoffs. It’s been impossible to suppress feelings of excitement when watching this ball club. Love the energy in the stadium as well, incredible!
I hate the in dugout interviews before the game is over. Let these guys play the game out and celebrate if they win they don't need some fucking reporter in their face after each home run before the game is over
I don't know how people can hate this guy lol. I'm not a huge baseball fan (usually only the playoffs) but Harper from the day he came in the league till now is an awesome character arch. Something different about dude.
Agree. He took some heat a couple of years ago when he said baseball needed to bring the passion back, but he was absolutely right. Go Phils!
Phillies in the World Series!!! Yankees Swept!!! It doesn't get any better than that!! GOOO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!
Smart broadcasting change get the reaction moments after not way after. Makes it more intimate.
i still can't believe he did this. One of the great moments of the last ten years in american sports
I can't stop crying this doesn't feel real
I've watched this 1,000,000 times and I'm still amazed.
Absolutely incredible poise. Even among great hitters not many would have laid off that changeup. Fantastic pitch. World class at bat when they needed it the most.
Such a great pitch I can’t believe he had the discipline for that. Any other batter would have swung. That pitch looked like a strike all throughout
I was there mannnnn, it was probably the best Philly sports moment of my life....
Ps this video does the crowd no justice
Dude is worth every single penny
Fighting-off 1-2 count ... 7-pitch at bat ... 4 pitches w 2-strikes ... laser-focus... steely determination... brass balls ... savage swings... PHILLY BASEBALL LEGEND !!!
I had season tickets for the 2008-2019 seasons. I was at every Phillies home game in the 2008 play-offs, I was at every Home game in the 2008 world series.... and being at the winning 2008 world series game, this has GOT THAT FEELING ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! 🤘🙌 LETS GO PHILLIES!!!
6:03 "I just did that"
YES YOU FUCKIN DID LETS GOOOO
Most team sports, the game winning drive doesn't rely completely on one person's shoulders. But in baseball it does. Imagine the feeling he had rounding those bases with the crowd cheering for him alone. What a moment
CHILLS!! This is what baseball dreams are made of. Ty Harper. Phillies all the way 🏆
I'm a ride or die MN Twins fan and I've never in my life got excited for another cities baseball team....... UNTIL NOW!! I absolutely love this Phillies run and everything about it especially the fans and players singing "Dancing on my own" it actually makes me emotional 🥲
I want them to win the World Series so frickin bad lol!!!!
So did I. I wanted the Phillies to win so bad, but Houston's a machine.
Sometimes a 106 win team actually acts like it.
When this happened my knees buckled and I fell to the ground. You’ve made a grown man re-cry. Thanks
Whoever was in that stadium will be forever touched . Wow.
WE'RE GOIN' TO THE WORLD SERIES!!
WE WON GAME 1 too
They said it on the padres broadcast, but as soon as he took that filthy 1-2 change up I knew he was going deep. I was telling my mom we win the game after he took that pitch. What an amazing moment from one of the greatest hitters of all time. Can’t wait to see what we do in the postseason this year.
Can't stop watching it. Fairy tale stuff.
No debate. Statue of Brycey Harper at CBP. MV3!
Bryce harper is electric! "Harper the swing of his life" Joe Davis. So awesome! So glad he's a Philly. Go Phillies!
I’m not a Phillies fan (go Jays! 🇨🇦)…but as a fan of the game, this is just incredible 🎉⚾️
So what you’re saying is we have this man for 10 more years!!! GO FIGHTIN PHILS!!!!!! BRYCE FOR PRESIDENT ❤
One of the top five players on the planet.
You have to rank that at-bat alongside the greatest in post-season history. Padres had zero time to get over that since their last shot was next.
This is literally one of the greatest at-bats in the modern era of baseball. Laying off that (excellent) changeup is just insane
Legacy changing at bat
@@jamiljamillmeadows3977 he just proved during this AB just how good he truly is and that he’s for sure lived up to the hype. Better than trout…. in my opinion
O-M-G...this makes me cry. So jealous for those fans that witnessed that at CBP
To give a little background, I am a Nationals fan. Not die hard, but a fan. So I hated when Bryce left, but I knew it would happen, it always does with the Nats. I watched all of this series, and the wildcard before. You Philly fans have a really great chance of a WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. Your team looks so good, and that Homer that Bryce hit was an EPIC moment in his career, in my opinion. You could just feel it getting ready to happen. So congrats to him, and the fans of Philly. Don't tell anyone here, but I'll be rooting for you guys. Until next season when we hand you your a$$es. 😁😁😁 Good luck in the series.
That shot from behind Harper…. Jesus Christ what an angle. THATS. The single greatest shot of all that. Camera pointed exactly where the ball was gonna go. God it gives me chills. The way Harper walks off like “wtf did you think I was gonna go d*ckhead I smacked that jawn “
One of the most clutch moments in Philly sports history
Bryce Harper you are the man
Will go down as one of the great moments in Philly sports history 🏆
Baseball was one of those sports I never really played as a kid so I don't understand all the intricacies of the at-bat but I can recognize a legendary moment in his career. Congrats Bryce! Honorary Jawn for life.
It’s clearly a nice time to be a Philadelphian, perfect start for the Eagles, now this!
What a moment! I have to admit, I was skeptical about Philly paying Bryce Harper all that money. I was wrong. Harper has had a sensational post season. It’s wonderful to see people get to be so happy about something.
Harper just elevated to Dawkins,Kelce Iverson, status.
Dr. J , Mike Schmidt,Charles Barkley,Steve Carlton are all beloved Philly icons.Harper is right up there with them.
@@__jack________________2225 Don't forget Nick Foles
@@hondaphan4172 Of course who could forget him.He was on fire in the NFC Championship and the SB.Too bad the Eagles chose Wentz over him.But could be a blessing in disguise 'coz the Eagle have found a franchise qb in Hurts. But that's another story.
Thank you from Section 114 Row 13 and phellow phanatics! The entire AB is why I came to RUclips....will never grow tired of watching it. LET'S GO!
I was eagerly waiting for someone to post this. I was alone for this at bat but about 4/5 pitches in I said out loud… to myself, He’s got his timing!!! He’s got his timing!! He’s gonna launch one!!! And it fucking happened. God damn this game is beautiful.
I think a lot of us had similar anticipations. He steps up to bat ... I'm thinking, "OK Bryce, this is your moment." The tension builds; Harper the calmest one in the entire park; and then, Bang! ... and the earth shakes. As he trots around the bases, my next thought was, "The Hall of Fame awaits." One of the great sports moments that no one who saw it will ever forget.
Let's Go Philly 😆 One More Bring It Home 😆
Bryce words, “I did that.” We believe in the you and our Phillies❤.
Watched this live. Just watched it over and over again on this VID. Goosebumps...every...time!!
I have lived in Seattle for over 51 years so not a huge baseball fan but when I saw Harper come to bat and hit that homerun, I had goosebumps. As a huge sports fan, that was the sports moment of the year so far.
Thanks for uploading this! Seeing the entire at-bat is crucial to really appreciate how great Harper really is at the plate. Legend status cemented.
Been looking everywhere for this thank you
Thanks for uploading this. This is the at-bat that made Harper a legend.
Isn't he already?
@@andyteri777 Phillies fans are almost as bad as Yankees fans. Matt Carpenter received DEATH THREATS after going 0-for-9 with 7 strikeouts in the ALCS, after braindead looney tune Yankees fans completely forget that he had one of the greatest regular seasons in history. If Bryce Harper chokes in the World Series, Phillies fans will be the exact same way.
Biggest home run I’ve ever seen
Thank you for the entire clip, still brings the same excitement today as it did 6 months ago. Unreal moment.
His take on that 1-2 pitch was even more impressive than the homer. Like he didn't swing?! Even the padres catcher looked over like HOW!?
Thanks for putting this up. That was a *great* at-bat by Harper.
