I am gonna be honest here and confess that Betty is the reason why I find the whole Natasha and Bruce relationship weird. The way these two act in this movie makes it difficult to believe Bruce could just forget Betty's existence and start feeling like that for Natasha

Thats why phase 1 has a special place for me in the mcu. they share the same universe, but tone and feeling are different, and IMO looks a bit better, oppose to the new marvel movies, (excluding the netflix shows), feel and look the same and it doesn't quite stick with you.
That doesn't feel the same here, they could feel like they would exist with tobey maguire's spiderman and the X-men or etc.
But unfortunately that never happened and the phase 1 tone quickly went away when avengers came 💔
@@theraginghouse 110% agree with both of you. Your observation feels 50x more relevant after Love and Thunder and with the upcoming She-Hulk. I totally defended the MCU against Scorsese's rollercoaster comment, and still would up to Phase 3, Phase 4 is exactly that and I'm so disappointed by it. Phases 2-3 began following a formula and that's definitely a nitpick I have with them. They were terrified of intimacy being shown in the relationships, no F words, slower moments like in this movie, which was given thorough attention, in the MCU (even phases 2-3) could feel a bit drowned out by all the story and narrative arcs. But man, Phase 4 has totally dropped the ball and now feels like total CGI-fests (bad CGI at that), constant quips, one liners, never taking a breather. Ugh.

This is un ironically the best love story in all of the MCU. Very touching and genuine chemistry between these two actors. Kudos to Craig Armstrong for that beautiful love theme

I miss these types of vibes so much. They ruined the best hulk version that has ever existed. Dark and heartbreaking storyline. Tears comes out of my eyes. And the soundtrack, it can’t get better than this. I miss you Edward Norton.

"I want you to come with me now, please, come with me" Liv Tyler's voice delivering that line is so heart warming, she was the perfect Betty

Betty is one of the best couples in the Marvel Universe, always taking care of Bruce, facing her dad for the pursuits that he make to Bruce, it's a shame that this couple didnt had more time un the screen 😢

unlike most superhero love interests, shit really wouldn’t have gotten done without betty in this movie. threw herself in front of a tank, the hulk, into battle all to make sure banner was okay. and it didn’t feel like she was a plot device either, she offered her own solutions and opinions on the way things were going and just naturally complimented bruce as herself, as opposed to shifting to suit the writing’s needs or his character (mary jane in the tobey trilogy is a good example of how not to write a love interest or woman lol). betty’s superior.
She definitely is a great person and more than just a side character.
She is literally the female character that traditional marvel movie lovers want (doesn't act overly aggressive, doesn't annoy or bully anyone), AND the character that woke marvel movie lovers want (acts strong and protective of Bruce, even when he's Hulk). She ticks not one list of boxes, but BOTH. She's that well written.
Liv Tyler aced this role! Amazing and beautiful woman

@@princesspancakes01 was that really the reason? Saw an interview where Edward says he didn't like the direction they were making the Hulk to be. Imo, the soft and smart Hulk we got to see in the avengers.. He wanted the Hulk to resemble what he grew up reading in comic books and similar to the role he played in the movie.

Such a raw emotional, heartfelt scene. No non-stop unfunny jokes, no corny lines, no overdone CGI, just two talented actors showing us lovers torn apart after being separated for so many years. Kudos to Edward Norton and Liv Tyler for bringing us the best relationship in the MCU. I wish Marvel movies had this kind of tone still.
The scene on the bridge with Bruce thumbing for a lift just reminders me of the 70/80s TV show and always seeing Bruce leaving at the end of each episode from the town or people he helped and moving on again. Always felt so sorry for that Bruce, always alone.
So beautiful when Betty pulls up and begs him to stay. Also Liv Tyler is so beautiful :)

Good news is, this movie is on HBO Max now.
This is why I prefer Liv Tyler’s Betty rather than Jennifer Connelly’s, Liv has shown true, pure emotion for Betty, whereas Jennifer’s was just emotionless, literally no tears or grief whatsoever, and Liv’s Betty has shown true loving relationship with the Hulk.
This is my reaction everytime my husband comes back from overseas.

Honestly I love this film it’s so underrated and I kinda miss Ed Norton as Bruce. Mark does a good job of course but I’ve always seen Ed as the definitive Bruce Banner, maybe it’s because I grew up watching this or I have different preferences but I stand by my opinion. I would also like to see Betty return in the She Hulk tv series coming out on Disney plus.

Does anyone feel like that Bruce and Betty is significantly better dynamic than Bruce and Natasha? Well to be fair, i haven't fully watched Age Of Ultron and the other MCU movies that came afterwords. So i kind of still went with the fact that i am used to Bruce and Betty being a thing. But maybe, she was not there because of the conflict between them. So to hear people talk about Bruce and Natasha as an actual couple, really confused me. It seemed like such an odd match?
But i mean if you like them together, it's all cool. I just really miss Betty's character, as i mostly grew up knowing that she was the main Love for Bruce.

Yep, in this scene, we witness a woman who truly loves her one and only broken man. We didn't need no dialog, it's so obvious, the other dude instantly disappeared from her sight. The movie actually nailed this scene.
Avengers was a great a movie overall, but when looking at Natasha and Bruce, we didn't feel anything. They just felt like coworkers at home depot.

A sadly and forbidden relationship between bruce and betty makes it so diffcult to find. I have got to honest that they are the best couple in history too.
The emotional weight of this scene, hell the whole film, is carried by these two. Maybe people were disappointed overall but they got this part right.

Today I watched once again this movie. This clip is so powerful in particular. It took less than 5 minutes (movie length I mean) to be connected to these two characters.
