Thank you for the review. The pause at 6:54 you mention between the grind and the espresso brewing is called the pre-brewing. The machine will send a small amount of hot water onto the grounded coffee to moisten it which will facilitate the extraction and maximise the flavour. This is a great option.
You mentioned it could push hot water without pressure (for drip coffe). Maybe they pre soak it, wait 12sec, then put pump pressure on for a 2nd pre soak? (Never saw an espresso automatic doing actual drip style coffee even somewhat decent as they all use pressure making it taste horrid, so nice option if that works. I guess still not the same as an actual drip coffe maker but maybe good enough to get rid of one machine from the bench area?)
This is the best video i've had so far. Thanks a lot. I've purchased the same machine 3 weeks ago and trying to figure out all the settings. Specially making nice froth. If anyone knows the trick how to make a good and hot froth please drop a note. I've been using professional machines so for
If your use to professional machines is pull off the cover and attempt steaming with it off. The cover infuses air automatically but if you know what your doing you can do it without
Hi, thank you very much for your review. The best I could find in 48 hours. I just wanted to ask you about the 2x button. What does that thing do? It makes two full extractions (ground, compact, and extract) so you can have two coffees?
All sounds good. My prob is, it's very long. My kitchen here in Europe is small. So trying to fit it in... is a real prob. A real shame. As I could do with a machine like this. I open to suggestions for shorter machine...
Well I wouldn’t use super dark oily beans. A really good starting place would be to buy Lavazza super crema amzn.to/47NkW3r Or buy some good locally roasted medium roast coffee from where you live
I only used Starbucks Espresso Roast beans in my old magnifica S. It last 12 years with one trip to. the repair shop at year 7 and thousands of shots made,. It final stopped pumping. Thinking of getting the Evo. Why no dark, oily beans
Great review. I was wondering how does the delonghi's older model (like esam 3300) compares to this new magnifica evo. Is there any difference between the two model in terms of making espresso? Also, does the new beverage options like americano, long, and overice taste better than adding water (or ice) into a standard expresso? Your review really helps a lot. Thanks.
My favorite way to make an iced coffee in those machines is. Make espresso over ice then steam the coffee to melt the ice to the desired amount than top with a touch more ice. In terms of espresso I think the machines are fairly similar but it definitely adds a lot more ease of use having the pre programmed buttons
@@JoeyVaracalli Wow the reply speed is insane. Thanks one again, I think i will go for the older esam model. The price is more attractive and the design of chassis just looks more classic and robust.
De’Longhi Ecom 290-42 machine - beverage options Espresso, Coffee, long, Doppio+ and Americano. Can you tell me How much coffee and water on each drink, how many seconds extraction done for each drink?
@@HuseyinYildirimturk espresso I always shoot for about 15 to 20 seconds of espresso flowing and maybe 2 to 3 oz of it. The americano should be the same but add an additional 3oz to 6oz of hot water just based on your preference
What's the difference between this and the automatic version? Just the foamer? I feel this one has a better control on the quantity (I have heard the automatic version you cannot control how much milk is dispelled).
I’m searching to buy an (super)automatic espresso machine. I have the nespresso essenza mini and the “coffee” is terrible. It’s more waterish coffee than espresso (lungo). I would like to know if these machines have better taste of coffee or to search something else.. I have 3 models on my mind.. The evo from Delonghi, Philips 4300/5400 and sage barista express impress.. Help buddyyy hahaha. Thanks a lot for your time. :)
I haven’t liked at the start and this machine is still working well we have been using the Terra kaffe tk02 more lately but come summer time it’ll be evo quite a bit. I’ll make sure to compare those soon
Hello, I'm considering buying philips 5400 series or delonghi magnifica evo. I know that philips grinder is seramic and delonghis is steel. What difference would it make? Which one of them would you choose? Could you help me choose?
I prefer steel burrs but honestly I know plenty of people that swear by ceramic. All I’ll say is higher end grinders generally speaking are steel or some sort of steel alloy.
Just ordered this on Amazon for $550!.. was debating between this and the more expensive elleta explore .. not sure it’s worth the price for more options and cold brew. What do you think?
I couldn’t agree more most the times those extra options are pretty dumb anyways. If you want cold brew make a shot of espresso over ice and steam the espresso with ice in it. Top with ice after. Or just espresso over ice than add cold water

I’d say they are great in my experience compared to other super autos. I have an esam 3300 it’s been in the family for almost 10 years now with zero issues
this makes a better shot of espresso but the tk01 makes pretty good espresso and has a lot more features i will say for 599 this isa. great black Friday deal

Yeah i just never heard the pump run and it also does that again. It does a 5 second or so pre infusion after that long hold
There is water coming out of the machine.. looks like a presoak

Good points on the plastics and screen; however, those improvements would surely bring the price up by $100-200.

@JoeyVaracalli wider is ok. Length a problem.
Nice review. I also enjoyed watching your Philips 3200 review. What do you think when compare this with 3200?
This is much better to me mostly because the grinder is much better. But the drink making ability is about the same.

How long does the milk take to heat?
If you watch at 6:23 I explain. It takes about 50 to 55 seconds
Can it do double shot? I read some reviews say the x2 button only pulls longer shot but doesn’t do 2 shots in a row
Yes unfortunately you are correct it just pulls a longer shot
