- Here's a recap of all the songs that competed for Bosnia & Herzegovina in Eurovision Song Contest from 1993 to 2016, now with some better footage. Please, enjoy!
Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 19 times since making its debut in 1993, after coming second in the qualification round "Kvalifikacija za Millstreet". Prior to 1993, Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Yugoslavia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's best result was in 2006, when Hari Mata Hari finished third with the song "Lejla". This remains the country's only top five result in the contest. The country also achieved five other top ten results: 1999 with Dino Merlin (7th), 2004 with Deen (9th), 2008 with Laka (10th), 2009 with Regina (9th), and 2011, again with Dino Merlin (6th). Bosnia and Herzegovina returned to the contest for the first time since 2012 at the 2016 contest, where they failed to advance from the semi-finals for the first time. They then withdrew once again from the contest.

Hari Mata Hari with “Lejla” was way beter of any song from old lady Europa but did not win because of his religion (Islam) but in future InshaAllah will win one of my brothers from Bosnia (Serb,Croat or Bosniak)

I really wish Bosnia comes back to Eurovision in my lifetime.

Bosnia was my winner three times. In 1993, 2006 and 2011. Bosnia was one of the most underrated countries in ESC. I wish they'll comeback.
@BoliTeK dugujemo oko 5-6 miliona eura Europskoj Radiodifuzijskoj Uniji, to je neki dug od ranije što BHRT nije platila kao članica ERU. Ta participacija se mora plaćati svake godine da bi nacionalna televizija (naša BHRT) dobila dozvolu da učestvuje u takmičenju Eurovizija i da bi dobila koncesiju da prenosi show u tri noći kada se dešava (dva polufinala i finalno veče). BHRT trenutno nema pravo ni da prenosi show, pa ako hoćemo da gledamo moramo to preko youtuba, ili preko RTS-a ili HRT-a na televiziji.
Jbg, ne možemo se dogovoriti ni oko čega, pa ni oko ovakvih stvari. Brukamo se užasno.
@BoliTeK Nobody "took us out". Bosnia's public broadcaster BHRT is in a lot of debt to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which hosts Eurovision. That means BHRT needs to find a way to get money and pay off their loans before returning to the Eurovision.

lejla is written by zeljko joksimovic who sang lane moje and also wrote this masterpiece. very very beautiful songs i agree an about molitva.. have nothing to say jst stunning .

Lejla by Hari Mata Hari (his now disbanded band) or Hari Varešanović (him alone) warms my heart because my cousin's name is Lejla, and I've watched him once. What an amazing man.
IMO, the best entries from Bosnia are “Love In Rewind” (2011) and “Bistra Voda” (2009).

Most underrated Eurovision country especially in 2000´s. Lejla and Bistro Voda could be easily winners on other year, both had bad luck, Pokusaj also deserved much higher place and not to mention Fazla in 1993... Hopefully Bosnia comes back soon😍

You do know that thousands and thousands of Bosniak women and young girls were very unlucky during that aggression on Bosnia,right? We should be little devils back then also and do it to Serbian women and girls also. How would they feel if we Bosniaks did this to Serbian women and young girls?? Bosnia. 1992-1995 Yes many girls ,even Bosniak girls called me ugly when it’s not my fault and lied to me and played ,were very mean to me, and I also find this very unfair ,while the Serbs got to make babies in the aggression…….I better get justice. We also did not forget Srebrenica and so many of them still support the evil injustice ,some openly,some secretly.

The song of 2008 deserved a better position than number 10; in Norway, we gave it 12 points. I love that song.

Friend from Serbia here! i love It, the old one are insane (1993 till 2000) and i love the 2006 one, the 2007 one, 2010 till 2016 where also amazing, i think the old ones are still a bit my favs.

It's a bit sad that the ESC should be such an expensive affair that poor TV broadcasters can't afford to participate. I miss having Bosnia and Herzegovina in the contest.

Underrated country
My favorite song ever is Bistra Voda (2009), I also love 2010 and 2011 a lot.
Lejla Harijeva je remek delo i tu uz Molitvu Marijinu i Joksimovica nema dileme kad je Ex Yuga u pitanju.

Hari bi pobjedio da je bio peder, a posto nije osvojio je 3 mjesto, puno bolju pjesmu je imao nego naredne godine ona lezbjeka koja je najvise zbog toga pobijedila... Lejla je mnogo bolja pjesma od molitve, koja je skoro pa kopija lejle

Bosnia and Herzegovina are quite a decent country at Eurovision. Their best entries in my opinion are 1993/2006/2007/2009/2011/2012 & 2016. Bring back Balkan ballads. We need them in Eurovision!

I dont understand how "ljubav je" failed to qualify
I've been thinking about the validity of the argument for the juries, which is that "the eastern europeans/balkans just vote for each other and get good points for that reason. We need juries to balance out the politics". Regardles of how the juries also vote for their neighbours/friends often, it's also apparent to me that during the years without the jury, the placement for bosnia Hertsegovina seems to be accurate imo. The ranking seems to match the song and they clearly didn't do so well every year.
This is the first country I'm looking through tho, so we'll see if this holds up. So far to me it seems like eastern europe/balkans just simply send bangers and that's how they succeed, not because of politics.

Fun fact about Fazle, the first Bosnian entrant, he moved to the US and now coaches football.
He returned some years ago and entered the politics, without success.
