If you take the right front tire off you have access to both of the lower bolts . With a wobble and extension you can have the two lower bolts off in a matter of a min. or 2 and there off .

Nice job going to do mine soon , shame 41000 miles and my 06 needs one . This car has electrical gremlins , punch it and the air bag light goes on , next day , it’s off had some work done to fix it , it didn’t . Waste of money and the dealer boy installed my passenger seat belt backwards.

I did this and it worked! But then it stopped working again. So I started switching it again but the nut behind the electrical connector is all rusted and wont budge. What should I do?
How the hell did you get the bottom bolt in with the heat shield on? You sure can not get to it with the heat shield on when trying to pull the alternator off!!🤬😡

I used an 18" and it was more than enough.

What size alternator do I need for my cts 2006

What did you use to adjust the tensioner
The tensioner is spring loaded self adjusting. Just used a half inch ratchet and rotated.
