    "This movie is 90's" is a funny critique - why yes, it was filmed in the 90s. And even in the 90's it was considered an 'out there' film - mostly because of the bold and speculative stylistic choices, and at that time the vast majority of society still thought computers and the internet were a mysterious and mostly useless piece of technology. I was 12 when this movie came out - so while 28 years of progress later it feels dated and easy to mock for not being 'serious' enough, rest assured that if you'd seen it in the 90's as the rare techy kid in the first generation with computers in school, it was the coolest thing you'd seen in your life. Also boobs.

      @datachu 3 года назад +15

      @@manictiger Oh yeah good point. Though on the other hand a lot of low budget movies and productions, those filmed with TV cameras instead of on film, were actually edited in digital pretty much from the moment digital editing existed, then converted back to analog to release on tape. It was a lot cheaper than mastering and editing in analog, especially doing all the special effects in digital CGI. And on a low budget production the director probably wouldn't be a snooty analog stickler who said that CGI was cheating and looked fake (he'd probably be right).

    Here we are at the 1995 Olympic men's freestyle and Michael Phelps has smashed the world record with a staggering 1.7 second run in the final heat.

Make it a little more atmospheric, a little more character focused, a little more attractive to look at. But at that point is that even a parody? Or a spiritual sequal? Who knows.
